Mr. Springer, how do you justify one group in society with adequate power taking a bigger slice of the pie and leaving the less powerful with a smaller slice?

Anonymous said...

Why didn't you inform the last adminsitration they were being wasteful when you were in their midst? Were you too busy singing for your supper Mr Springer? Is that your trademark?

Anonymous said...

Lol this article is ridiculous, might as well stay in Europe, don't need anymore idiots in Saint Lucia.

"I am glad that I am in England to have been able to read his obituary in the Guardian"

You can read the Guardian online you know, don't have to be in England.

"The government is subsidizing petrol at an exorbitant level which means that there is less revenue coming in. We probably have the cheapest petrol in the Caribbean."

Are you serious? Fuel prices are way above market prices. The government is COLLECTING significant revenue from petrol. And Trinidad, Antigua, both have cheaper fuel than Saint Lucia.

This article represents the trademark of the Springer family. It is about identifying with party in power and what is in it for them.

Prior to the last election Winston Springer was one of the most ardent critic of the UWP. He often talked a lot of trash about them. Guess who is the government spokesman today? That very same Winston Springer.

I would not place much importance on this Springer writing all of those -going nowhere article-. After all, he is a Springer!

Anonymous said...

I agree with the last comments. Can someone tell me the cost of fuel in our neighbour country St Vincent?

Anonymous said...

Nothing wrong with what the two Springers have done. Richard Frederick, Irving John, Sarah Flood, Guy Joseph were strong Labourites. Cass elias was a top member of UWP before he joined Labour. Estephan was a top member of the NDM. Kenny Anthony once took a consulting job with the flambeau government. calixte George took a job from Compton as Manager of the SLBGA. Dr Vaughan Lewis was a UWP PM and Political Leader. So why can't the Springers change their allegiance too?

Anonymous said...

Are the Springers allowed to change their allegiances everytime a government changes?

As a matter of fact, what the writer before said is so true. The Springer's are nothing more than political beggers.

I remember seeing Winston Springer in a couple of rum shops putting pressure on the Flambeaus. Just like that they offer him a job and all of a sudden his tail is between his legs.

These are the people telling us to put country ahead self. These brothers are not about country but about self. As long as they needs are met nothing matters.

The love of country equals what comes into their pockets.

I know the Springer brothers well. They are not the same - say what you want about Denys, but Winston Springer is not a political beggar. The man paid a heavy price for his loyalty to Vaughan. For 10 years the man got no work from Kenny even after Vaughan became an SLP. Springer only started to bad talk UWP when Compton shafted Vaughan. The man has a family to think about. All those who writing their crap will not give him a cent to care for his wife and his children.

Anonymous said...

Up to earlier this year, a whole year after Compton died, Winston Springer did not have anything good to say about King the UWP.

You are right, he has a family to feed, and like all political beggers had to do what beggers do best.

How can he explain his sudden turn around support for King?

Hello! Hello! I am confused here. Winston Springer is the spokesman for government and Egbert Andrew is the spokesman for the PM? What going on here? Is this the same PM talking about economic hardship? Why so many spokesmen for a government of 11 people?

Hello! Hello! I wish somebody who know a little more can enlighten me.

I agree that the timing is bad for an increase given the global economic climate. This recession is world wide and St. Lucia is not exempted. I appreciate that this increase is owed but right now around the world there is a massive loss of jobs and people are taking wage cuts just to stay employed, yet in St. Lucia school kids are being denied an ... Read Moreeducation because teachers decide they won't work until their needs are met. I agree that they can wait until the economic situation improves after all they won't lose because they will get whatever is due to them retro-actively...
And what does personally attacking Mr. Springer have to do with the issue at hand? These are hard core points that he is dealing with. Wake up St.Lucia look around the world see what is happening!
And to the person who said he could read the guardian online. How shallow? Your point being what exactly?

Anonymous said...

As usual with St. Lucians discussing any issue, all these comments are a distraction from the issue at hand. I don't give a damn about the Springers. What is important is the issue at hand. It doesn't matter whether it is Dockie who delivers the message.

Just about every single comment has gone off on a tangent and not discussed one iota regarding the current crisis. It is time we stop this nonsense as Lucians and discuss things intelligently!! It doesn't matter who you support, we must all evaluate this situation fairly for both sides. Don't shoot the messanger.

Personally, this situation all boils down to egos and politics (nice name for a book). There is hardly any doubt in anyone's mind that we (St. Lucia) are in dire economic straits along with the rest of the world. It is also clear that an agreement was reached between the unions and government which has been honored until now. We all understand that more likely than not the government is in tight financial quarters. So my goodness, why can't there be a reasonable discussion to work out a reassessment of the payout period. EVERYONE knows and agrees that financial times are hard as nails, however, sadly it seems to be the last consideration in all of this.

We are all clowns pretending we live in a world where everything is nice and rosy in 2009 and we should get what we are entitled to regardless the outcome. Any sensible person who can do primary school maths will deduce that the only reasonably expected outcome to paying the final installment to the increase WILL be job losses in quick time.

So St. Lucians I say, "Pick your poison wisely." Either you be a little patient or lose jobs. It's not the government you're squeezing, it's only yourself.

Has the government shown any willingness to end the big spending spree by Ministers?

While u are right in saying St Lucians should approach the situation in an intelligent manner, I worry about the maturity of this government to do likewise.

Some of the bloggers before allured to the wasteful spending habbits on the government. Are you saying that it is onl the St Lucian people that should worry about their jobs and not the government.

Anonymous said...

Isn't giving a 14.5% pay raise "wasteful spending"?

Anonymous said...

Of course it is. Any right thinking or intelligent PM would have looked at the world situation including what was unfolding all around us a year ago, and say, no way, I am not offering a 14.5 % to the public service.

It just goes to show that Mr. King and his government are not not fit to be caretakers of our country. Their lavish lifestyle seems to have prohibited them from reading the indicators of a global reccession that was looming.

It's so easy for Lucians out there to pass judgement. The civil and public servants want the Government to act responsibly in managing the countries financies, especially in this crisis. How can a Government be spending money so recklessly, turn round and ask their workers to accept postponement of pay! We are paying to UN ambassadors,an inquiry that amounts to nothing, rental for a house for the PM, while the official residence remain empty, 27 consultants, rehiring of retired person so that they get a pension plus a new salary, ect ect ect

$65 MILLION DOLLARS on the broken down Daher Building (a building that is not structurally sound) as a payment to one of their friends

- $2 MILLION DOLLARS in a commission of inquiry that is not of BREAD and BUTTER significance

- $3/4 MILLION DOLLARS on a Kessler Report that proved that nothing underhanded was done by the previous administration

- $MILLIONs to American Drywall in advance rental payments - helping a party supporter. Paying rent for offices that were not yet even occupied

- $ MILLIONS to Cyril Dornelly and others for FAULTY CONSTRUCTION and other WORK - including $450 to change a door lock. YES, $450

- $ MILLIONS to ANGEL BROUET - a party hack who used the talkshows before election to make UWP look good and now is silent on the
airwaves. Numerous contracts were given to her.

- $43 000 (FORTY-THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS) a MONTH to James Hepple for according to Allen Chastenet "compiling Statistics in Tourism"
TAX FREE and WORK PERMIT WAIVED

- $3 MILLION DOLLARS to American Airlines - and then soon after they stopped coming to St.Lucia

- $ MILLIONS to C.O. WILLIAMS on the Gros Islet Road - That is for another show - we wont speak of Guy Joseph POCKETING HUNDREDS of
THOUSANDS in that deal

- Sarah Flood as the WORLD"s ONLY deputy ambassador to UN - in these HARD economic times

- $12 MILLION DOLLARS in Excess Travelling (1st Class mind you) - Richard Frederick 3 weeks ago BOASTED how "I am always out every
weekend for the last 5 or so weeks on business"

- $ MILLIONS in bail-out for hotels - YES - for the same hotel owners who make MILLIONS in profit and who dont pay their workers well and pocket
the money of the farmers and taxi's

- $MILLIONS in gas guzzling SUV's for Government - just check ot Estephan (white Toyota Fortuner) and Guy Joseph (white kia Sorento)

- $8000 plus MONTHLY - for an information officer to the Prime Minister when he already has a PRESS OFFICER doing basically the same job

- Ministers blackmailing investors who intend to come to our shores, asking them for MILLIONS even before they land here and chasing them away
in the process

- MILLIONS received by GUY JOSEPH in the FRAUDULENT water deal for privatization

- MONEY spent in Martinique on the hospital bill of a woman who was BATTERED by the UWP TREASURER ANTHONY WALCOTT - shouldn't they
have "encouraged" him to foot the bill?

Richard and Rufus have a yacht each, BMW's not to mention SUV's and pick-up vans.

Arsene James, Edmund Estephan, Ezechiel Joseph to name a few also have EXPENSIVE RIDES.

Richard and Friends ran and own Prio's Country Palace.

Richard and JJ have sold JJ's paradise for MILLIONS to Discovery Hotel.

Richard's Corinth home is up for sale as he intends to move to a more "conducive" environment.

Many of these Ministers are building new homes.

Mondesir has his mini hotel, not to mention the customs concessions that he RIPPED off St.Lucians from.

Allen Chastenet has his large hotel and his family owns the MAJORITY OF THE FOOD SUPPLY in St.Lucia.

UWP ministers have party meetings at Green Parrot Hotel on TAX PAYERS money. Eat at all the fancy restaurants and five star hotels. Not to mention, all the ministers have Taiwanese money at their disposal.

OFCOURSE they can take a pay cut.

They can AFFORD it. Can you teacher? can you police? can you fireman? can you civil servant? can you St.Lucian? I can't, Can You? Huh, CAN YOU???????

Just because you post as Anonymous, it doesn't mean that you are really anonymous. Your posting can be traced back to you, so if I was you, I would see if I could get TheVoice to delete your posting because some of it is definitely libelous.

Look like someone is running scared about the revelation of the net worth of UWP MPs.

I can't rationalise bloggers who wish to ignore what Springer writes, but want to suggest that we focus on the message, what message?, bashing the former Government or we accept that the uwp should not pay.Get serious,Denys Springer up until to the day of election was a staunch advocate, and ally of the slp,and Dr.Kenny Anthony , albeit he fled to England on election day there he metamorphesized into what he has become a 'hack'
Springer is nothing but a prostitute, boastful, and more opportunistic than a maggot.
It is people like him that continues to be a disservice to St. Lucia,he has no Character, and is sending the wrong message to the young people of this country.

Anonymous said...

After all is said and done, people like the Springers are the real winners in St Lucia.

You can't help but marvel at the nerves of these guys. Now mind you, they are not a lone in this game. There are many like them who refuse to get involve in the hard work of electing governments, but are simply comfortable in positioning themselves for recognition or association with any poliical organization in power.

The great majority of St Lucians who are busy working hard and supporting these political organization must awake soon. It's not people like you who benifit. Look around, it's the people like the Springers who do. Why waste your time to cast a vote only to secure jobs and favours for the boys.

Springer is such a HACK and a political PROSTITUTE, that he is satisfied to lazily say "we probably have the cheapest petrol in the Caribbean." Probably? Why don't you do your research Mr. springer? You are damned lazy to research, yet you are so damned quick to type your childish sounding words, as you sing for your supper. This is why the readers, both Flambeau and SLP have no respect for you, Mr. SINGER!!!! This is why you continue to put shame in the eyes of your brilliant brothers, Winston and Cletus Springer. You are so in a hurry to defend the indefensible UWP Taiwanese Puppet Government, that pays your dirty consultancy fees for writing your crap, that you refuse to do the research. People like you are the ones who do more damage to governments than anybody else. Don't you see that Jeff Fedee realized that the UWP government is indefensible and he has SHUT his mouth? Why don't you return to England and rid us of your useless company? It's people like you who make the Taiwanese believe that all Lucians are for sale. Sing for your supper if you like, but at least, Mr. SINGER, do your research and stop insulting the intelligence of the readers. And let me inform you Mr. Singer, since you are too damned LAZY to do the research, that you can get the prices of petrol of all the Caribbean States in a minute on GOOGLE. And, while we are at it, Saint Lucia's gas at the pump now ranks among the most expensive in the Caribbean. Come on, SINGER, you gutless, lazy bastard, do the research. Donna.
