This is a great story - the use of 'new' social media tools for marketing offers so many possibilities for Caribbean companies - large and small - who previously would not have had a chance of reaching these kinds of audiences - even with big budgets.

Companies should also look at Twitter - although in the Caribbean this is as yet to really catch on, the advice all round suggests get in early, get used to using the platform.

The value of twitter is in the conversation, and it does take time, so companies now are hiring employees who's job is to tweet with customers; may seem lavish, but it opens whole new lines of communication that can be used in customer service.

follow me on http://twitter.com/finolaprescott - does the Voice have a twitter account?

I just tweeted this article and immediately got a response from a Trini Tweeter - re-tweeting the message with the addition: "Great place for a regional Tweetup". A 'Tweetup' is an informal gathering of people who Tweet 'Tweeters' - a message goes around like 'Tweetup at Bay Gardens, Oct 16th, Pool Bar' and there you have it, Viral Marketing.
