SLP have to get rid of Chastenet because he exposes what a non-performer Philip J. Pierre was in the tourism portfolio.

well done St.Lucia at last u take a stand

Why would you want to get rid of the tourism minister, he's the best you've got. Kenny & CO. are becoming senile. This is only going to hurt the Nation and not Kenny & CO.

DEAR READER,
STLUCIA HAS A HISTORY OF NOT LETTING IT'S GOVERNMENTS FUNCTION.
HOWEVER IN THIS CASE THE GOVERNMENT WOULD BE WELL ADVISED TO CONSOLODATE ITS POSITION BY SHOWING SOME GOOD FAITH AND GIVING MONDESIR AND CHASTENET THE BOOT.

Kenny Anthony can make an ass of himself for as long as he wants. There is nothing he can do to remove this government. Stephenson King will serve his entire term in office.

Poor Jab Kenny.

If one were to inspect the present Cabinet, although it appears EVERY one of them have acquired tremendous wealth for the past two years; very few of them had an established profession prior to 2006.
Now why would they want to leave this rosy seat?
I still think Kenny should continue to ask for the resignation of ALL who seems bent on trangressing the Law!!!!!! Even if we, who do not understand keep on calling him names and making fun of him.

That's why good leaders can't step forward to lead the country. When NGO's and the opposition party marches to have competent people like Chastanet removed...there is no honour in politics. Those poor protesters being lead like lambs to Kenny's slaughterhouse.

I'm not saying the protest is unwarranted but the message could have been different. Kenny Anthony doesn't inspire me.

Kenny and Co are preying on the ignorance of St.Lucians. Yes the Gov't has its faults but couldn't he have found a more diplomatic way of addressing this issue. No wonder we can't find competent people to lead this country.... Shame you Kenny&Tonny for using the people of SLU as pawns in this obsessive feud with UWP... I no longer have respect for you...as if I ever did????

They can kick Chastanet out when they can replace him with someone equal to or better than him. Good luck.

Why is Kenny and CO so intimidated by Alan Chastnet. I'm sure Alan can do and be whatever he wishes instead he has chosen to move The tourism industry forward with his creative ideas. He has probably done more for SLU than Menissa or Pip did during their tenure as M of T.

Anonymous said...

Chastenat has done more than Menissa and Pip?

Such as?
Boxing in Paradise?
James Hepple?
Food and rum?
Killing Jazz?
Tuxedogate?
Frederickgate?

Anonymous said...

PIP and Melissa

Have done More than Chastenet

Such as

NOTHING!

For all those who are critical of the SLP, ask yourself this one question. Are you better off than you were three years ago. It's very hard for people to admit that they screwed up in getting this incompetent group in power. They will try their best to bring back history. They need an excuse for their screwup. Kenny and Co are their excuse so they will continue to look at the past than to see the oversize pimple that is destroying the fabric of our once proud Island. We need to get rid of these guys before we get to a point of no return. Just remenber what these guys promissed before they got in power. They havn,t delivered anything yet of substance, only retheric. As for Chastenet, he should never be in such a post. It,s a case of the fox guarding the henhouse. Remember, this is the guy who wanted to deminish the role of the jazz festival. The boxing was a waste of a few million dollars. Shame on those who keep defending such mediocracy. The problem is right before them to see but they turn a blind eye to the present happenings and try desperately to focus on the past and history. Keep thinking this way, the road to prosperity is not the past but the present and future state of the country. An alcohlic first needs to accept that he is an alcoholic before he can move foreward to recovery. For all those complainers of the past adminstration until you people admit that you really messed up in putting this bunch in power you will wallow in your our filthy past.Good riddance. Ignorance is a prelude to self destruction.

You speak about ignorance but your very diatribe is devoid of anything to support your claims. Now let me educate you. Chastanet (and people please spell his name right) did not want to get rid of the festival. He wanted to move the tourism budget away from hosting the festival and putting it into marketing the island with tv ad campaigns. People are talking about St. Lucia, now we need to be seen so that the tourists will come. The festival would be privately run.

Are you saying that it is right to have someone who is heavily involved financially in the industry to be the one running it. I do not need to support any of my claims, for they are very visible for anyone to see. It's a pity guys like you only see what you want to see and not what is happening presently. This is exactly why we are in the situation that we are in right now. Keep defending mediocracy. You are one who will go down with the ship no matter what the circumstances. Good luck, and good riddance.

What is it that you say I am seeing? What is happening presently that I am turning a blind eye to? Stop speaking in parables man and bring some concrete points to this debate.

Now to counter your point. Allen Chastanet has his hotel, fine, but at the end of the day the Tourism Ministry's efforts will benefit all hotels, including Chastanet's, so how do his efforts aim to benefit only him?

Educate me. What are the conflicts of interest Allen Chastanet faces, being a Minister of Tourism in the same country that he has a hotel? People are quick to pin that on him but I have yet to hear why such a circumstance compromises the integrity of the Tourism Minister!

It is sad to see how population's manipulation works. While all have your eyes riveted to the who's more crooked one... the next episode of "So you think you can... Govern", has Saint Lucia dancing a sad tune. The doom of Saint Lucian islanders is found in their narrow vision and limited scope of reasoning. Partisan wars are much more fun to fight as winners and looser are immediately identified. Once in the favor of the populace, next time in disgrace, names and guilt are easily identified.
For a minute, take a step back. Who did really give power to any of the culprit. YOU, the people... The same one who (at your level) rip off daily your customers. The same who daily defraud government, the same one that envy the success of these "elected" disgraced representatives. Your envy and hope to do as they do bring the worst leaders in the light. Greed, selfishness, hope to be part of the scam ruling the land.
One day, and that day is coming, the masters will change. But as you reach that day, the legacy left behind will impair any greater developments. Look around you. To the older ones, remember who had the power of CHANGING things in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Where are they? Where are these rich kids attending college in the early 80's...? where are the one "favored" before you for the wealth and privileges of the bright future of Saint Lucia?. Most of them, the one you used to look at whisper about have either lost Dady's money, or fell out of fame. The other managed to hang on the "left over" of their fame. The same people you disliked as you were growing up for the unfair favors they had privilege to, are the one you trust to represent you.
Wake up... nah.. too late. Change... i doubt much can be achieve... Start over.. YEAH!... start over, bring value to your actions, changes are good. You must close your eyes and remember, your past will guide you future by identifying the ones to lead you.

Zeigy is showing up himself everytime he write. He is a clear UWP party hack who is just singing. It is useless for the anonymous writer to get into any conversation with him because zeigy is not reasoning clearly.

For zeigy to say the march is against competent men is something to laugh at. there are three men being asked to be remove. Zeigy never mentioned Mondesir nor richard frederick. Maybe because their incompetence is too glaring and does not favor the UWP, so he left it out. Chastenet has not been all that effective either. All he has done is a number or trial an error project, that has mostly failed. Had he worked with his staff, in developing well thought out ideas, he may have been more effective. So to argue that Chastenet is competent is no true unless he proves he is.

In any event, the march agaist chastenet is about him facilitating persons like mondesir, richard federick in their unlawful behavior. So there is are credible points for his removal. St. Lucia is not the US, but just last week you heard the envirnmental advisor to Obama resign because he made statements considered inflamatory. But don't tell me zeigy, because we are not the US we must have no standards.

To argue that Chastenet was removing money from the festival to advertisements must be a conversation, Chastenet had privately with you. If you remember the ads about st. lucia came months after the festival, only when he realised that the tourism board budget was short of the ad funding. Castenet said it himself. Finally to argue that his efforts will benefit all the hotel, you need to tie your in with benefiting st. lucians, because all he has done try to reduce the bills of hotel (which is a case of double interest). there is nothing to say that reducing the hotel bill will bring more tourists to the island.

Zeigy needs to stop playing politics and get a clue, He is just being an idiot.

You know, just once I'd like someone to deliver a well thought out argument without their last paragraph ending with an insult.

Now Tim, to say that Chastanet is engaging in trial and error projects...last I checked that's what being a leader entailed...there is some element of risk involved with a venture. To advocate for putting in place a team of analysts until a well thought out plan is in place only brings inaction, you can't learn whether something works until you put it into action.

I would opt to try and fail rather than over analyse something and take no action.

My first comment stated that I found the protest march not entirely unwarranted. It's just that having Kenny attack the few people we see trying to do a descent job when St. Lucia is crying out for good leaders is not honourable.

Kenny Anthony needs to fight his battles more ethically than that. Allen Chastanet helped him in his case against Mondesir, call for Mondesir's head and Frederick's.

It is amazing when one tries to go into territory that they have no knowledge about, how ignorant they sound. According to Zeigy being a leader entails pursuing trial and error projects. He argues that working with your staff may not be all that valuable because you only know whether the project will be successful after it is implemented.

I am sure Zeigy can look up any management text or simply check the web on what it means to be a leader. There is nothing that says undertaking trial and error projects, but Zeigy says last he checked that is what a leader entails. A simple definition is " one who guides and inspires." But I do not intend to dwell on leadership.

When any project is undertaken, there is always risk. But, the appropriate evaluations need be done to minimize the risk. One do not just head first in an initiative not knowing the potential costs nor benefits expected to accrue from the initiative. Proper analysis is different from trial and error. But I guess Zeigy did not know that. If you take the last project with Sandals, where Chastenet stated that he approached the Manager of Sandals after he found out there was no funds for advertising in the tourism board budget. If one follows the time line in which everything took place. It is no secret Chastenet went head first. The reason is because all advertisement is not necessarily good advertisement. To request monies from the government purse without a full idea of of the scope of the initiative is no way to undertake a project. Speak to any professional they will confirm this for you.

I gave one definition of a leader above. By Chastenet not getting his staff involved in numerous projects (I am sure you can think of quite a few, trade shows, boxing, advertisement), how does he inspire the staff? How can he lead them appropriately if they have no idea what he is doing?

So Zeigy take a moment to think before you speak. cause you are showing up yourself as someone who is speaking just for the sake of it.

Zeigy said...

Timmy boy, for the sake of brevity I summarised all the traits of a leader in one simple sentence: being a risk taker.

A comment box under a news article is hardly the place to engage in long winded debates and since I have better things to do with my time than respond to your comments solely because you can't keep the name calling to yourself, since apparently you were born with a PhD in your hand, I will be parting ways.
