I understand where Micah is coming from with his comments but he is being too one sided and if he were more balanced he would also have seen another aspect of this show at Dennery and what it meant.

Micah should kep up his good work at journalism but he must stop looking at journalism as a personal set of announcements and see the bigger picture.

What Dennery said to the St. Lucian public and to the UWP supporters themselves is that there is a viable two party system still in operation in St. Lucia.

The people at the rally said that in spite of the issues facing the King Administration that they KNOW that the alternative under Dr. Anthony is much worst.

What the people at the rally were saying is that yes we know we have our conflicts to deal with but we will not be giving up this country to the people who from 1997 -2006 raped the treasury, saw a surge in the crime rate, despoiled the political atmosphere, victimized opponents, were arrogant and incompetent, failed at finance, foreign policy, agriculture, sports, fishing development, etc.

The people at the rally said they are not going to go back to the cronyism of Leo Clarke, Tom Walcott, Skeet, Deterville, et al.
They are not going to give that crowd the opportunity to drink the $12,000 of hard liquor and champagne that had to be put in storage somewhere in Reduit after December, 2006.

So there was a story in Dennery and it was that the people are awakened and the St. Lucia Labour Party will have to come with new ideas and direction before we trust them to destroy the country even further.

You back again trying to fool us.

"You back again trying to fool us"

This is the same infantile responce of the people who could not "get it" as to why the SLP was kicked out in 2006.

This is the kind of responce that requires no deep thinking or effort and is like those who support Kenny and are waiting for the breadfruit to fall into their laps when the SLP get into power again. Laziness and incompetence personified. This is what keeps us backward.

I will not waste my time answering to your junk of lies. You think people do not know the achieves of the SLP? You believe people do not know which government that is lazy and incompetent, and which one is working and has WORKED. Why can't the uwp drop breadfruits in the lap of the people. I am not talking about hand outs as was done in Dennery. We need work, as was done by the SLP. You remember when we could not find a bag of cement in St Lucia because there was so much work going on in St Lucia? This could not have been done by a lazy, incompetent government as we have today in St lucia.

@ Anonymous No. 2

So you mean to tell me that's what the Editorial Writer should have gotten from listening to the presenters at the UWP rally? If you're going to criticize him because he's leveling criticism at the party you support, at least deal with the substance of the matter. You do not address any of these points yet you go on to criticize the SLP as if they're in power and they're the ones currently liable to account to the public. Throwing around people's names won't really help you. Need I not remind you of the history of the United Workers Party, a party strongly rooted in the Saint Lucia aristocracy and the business class. Need we not talk about the cronyism++ that exists within that party's hierarchy. You clearly have some personal resentment towards certain people. I suggest you deal that with those persons and not try to muddy the waters as is haute couture these days in Saint Lucia. All parties will have hierarchies but I think we should deal with the essence of how these organisations operate. At the heart of the UWP lies very little democracy. We've seen how things get done with the current bunch in the UWP hierachy, full of arm twisting, bribes, graft, gimme- this-for-that, and so on. Then you have the gaul to go on to talk about crime, while we're seeing that same crime right now in the country. You have the nerve to say that the SLP administration were "incompetent, failed at finance, foreign policy, agriculture, sports, fishing development, etc." ... if this is the case, what does that make the UWP before the 1997 and currently? Am I to think that the investment in two sports stadiums, establishment of Sports Saint Lucia, hosting a World Cup which is now having spin-offs up to this year coming with 20/20 Cricket World Cup in SLU, investments in other sporting infrastructure, was incompetence? I suppose investment in fisheries ports and allied infrastructure at Vieux Fort, Choiseul and Soufriere was just pure incompetence. So please, if I must remind you of the actual record, it shall be done. Perhaps you need to be more balanced, and not the Editorial writer....

Micah listen!
For the last time plants cannot achieve photosynthesis by locating themselves behind Kenny's posterior!
It is refreshing to see how analytical you have become since December 2006 and becoming a "concerned citizen" WOW that takes the cake......

Mary , Mary, Rally is Big Business
This Charade of face saving, ground testing, Kleenex politics (use and dispose) in the name of Political Rally is part and parcel of the leftwing (remember super 8) conspiracy, seat seekers, economic opportunist, arm twisters injecting there will on the Party, knowing that Cabinet reshuffle in eminent.

More interesting is who were not available and did not show up at the rally, that’s the hidden list being complied

In the post colonial era the primary purpose of power and control has been the accumulation of Wealth.

However, this concept has produced little development, but rather distinguished more by corruption, repression, impoverishment of the masses and economic insecurity.

"Issues facing the King Administration""!!!
You have a Government with a you scratch my back....I scratch yours.....favour for position....get me out of trouble....and I will keep you as Leader.....and you call that issues???????????

In the mean time the Taiwanese are following the same prostitution method....building small roads and drains to citizens houses moreso in un-planned development to keep poor people brain-watched to vote UWP back in, whilst major projects and policies like building of schools...the Labour Code...finishing the Mental Hospital, Forensic Lab which would help the Poor People even more is left behind!!!

Where are your brains yellow tadpoles???

Where the achievements to celebrate???

Good article!!
Of course UWPees will not like it.....anything that is honest can't be welcomed by them.

We call ourselves a Christian society and we support such gross corruption??

Anywhere else in the world....Guy Joseph would not end the year without answering to the people.

He boasted not needing Education....just common sense!!!

And he has a bunch of Educated people fooled....

He won't give the original cost but will boast there won't be any cost over-runs.
The audacity of a 'common sense' ....uneducated man!!

Only in St Lucia people like Guy Joseph can ever be a minister. What does that say about us asa people?

Am wet to understand our St.Lucia Democracy...if this exits,,what i see is one relative to some( families delebrating public policy and public affairs) and the other solely for the members of the administration.

Thus the government cannot regulate internal policy, and can never speak to the people, in the name of the people itself.

It is best and most natural for the wisest to govern the multitude, not the other way around, as long as it is not for there own.

Nor must 17 men do what 9 men can do more effectively. Becouse thats when the corporate interest begins to direct the public force.

You people don't make any sense.

And speaking of Taiwan, my friends, let's remember that the Taiwanese are being KICKED OUT of every country in the world today. They are being KICKED OUT of Africa, Asia and the Caribbean... everywhere. John Compton, in his wisdom, had decided that he was NOT going to give them diplomatic recognition, but the traitors, Bousquet, Richard and the rest, got their Taiwanese GIFTS secretly under the table, disobeyed the wishes of the BOSS whose name brought UWP into power on December 11, 2006, and brought Taiwan back in. The Taiwanese have JAILED their thieving and extremely corrupt President, a friend of Prime Minister Stephenson King. ALL countries are kicking Taiwan out, Saint Lucia is bringing them back in. What does that say to you, Saint Lucians? That while the world is going forward, we are going BACKWARD. Micah is on the button when he speaks of the incompetence of the WORST administration we have seen in the the history of our poor country. Forget about Micah the messenger...listen to the message. Donna.

Honestly, I regard commenting on Guy Joseph to be an insult of great magnitude. He just isnt worth it! He clearly needs to be taught basic speech and language skills. Otherwise it is refreshing to read articles from people not being biased and telling it like it is. We should all read and learn well. Great piece, Micah!
