I have nothing against gambling when the odds of winning are regulated and posted, but I don't believe for a nano-second that the incompetence and the culture of corruption that exists in St. Lucia will ensure that unsuspecting patrons do not get robbed by unscrupulous operators.
Did you read and understood the comment before yours? You cannot compare lotto to casino gambling, eg with casino you buy a few tickets and wait to see if you win, but in casino people could lose all their belongings in a casino and go ahead to commit crimes to replace it.
I certainly agree with the 3rd anonymous note that casino gambling should only be for the visitors, and if memory serves me right, I believe that this was one of the grounds under which legislation was passed. What strikes me as odd,is the fact that some religious leaders are talking "MORALITY" when it comes to casino gambling. Knowing the lifestyle of some of those, they should never mention morality, and they better not get me pissed again, or I will surely expose all of them in a calypso. I handled the first one to a point where I had Father John get on my case, and I am prepared to do the same again.
I wish that the churches would concentrate on the things that really affect our people.
The greatest contributor in 21st century western civilization to crime, gang formation, homicide and general breakdown of society is guess what ?
Not povery, not government, not the type of society but single parenthood, the absence of a father in the home and the breakdown of the family. All the UK and American academic analysis prove that point. Criminality in the US among blacks is massively greater than among whites. If you take out the factor of single motherhood the difference is negligible, yet we act in the Caribbean as though having babies out of wedlock is "we ting".
The churches should be informing young women and our political leaders that the attitude towards family formation is what is killing our society. Casinoes are a drop in the bucket of any potential problems.

IF THE ARE SO AGAINST A CASINO BECAUSE OF GAMBLING WHY DID THEY ALLOW LOTTO WHICH IS A FORM OF GAMBLING

They should only allow visitors to gamble. Gambling is as addictive as drugs, alchohol and tobacco, we don't need another disease.
if they have lotto, what's wrong with casino gambling?

The casino should only allow foreign visitors.

We don't need another drop in the bucket, we have enough.
