This is an idea that was dead before it was born. Spring break is synonymous with young, drunk, boisterous party-goers on the beaches and streets while bunking at cheap hotels that are so desperate for money that they will endure the noise and damage. Where would a "spring break festival" occur in St. Lucia?

Did everyone get their deposit back?

I suppose the Voice will rectify this error in the next edition. The disconnect between the story and the photograph.

If I didn't know better I would have gone away with the impression that the Clarkes are responsible for the event.

Anyway congratulations to the proud parents (Leo and Elizabeth) and in particular to the young man for his educational/professional achievements.

Spring Break has been used to revitalize tourism areas like Florida that were dead. And now it is flourishing. It can also be used to bring foreign and local students together for netwroking purposes and to build relationships.

There is the misconception that it is all about drinking. I went to Springbreak in Jamaica and we painted schools in the Negril area. Some students also use their spring break to take of kids.

I was looking forward to St. Lucia's first Spring Break and will surely miss it. The organizers must be given kudos for thinking outside the box.

Don't give up.
