I knew it! Out he pops: the same blogging-griper crawls out of his dark hole spewing his usual foulness.
YOUR DAILY PERFORMANCE IS SO BORING! and relax, I have no connection with the minister or party you hate so much.
Everyone knows your type are only energized by anger. Nonetheless, if you can, why not try getting a life of your own instead?

Don't bother responding directly to my words because I have no intention of reading yours.

We must stop thinking politically and think of how it affect's us. There is only one airline now operating in the eastern caribbean which charges astronomical fares. We can no longer travel between the islands. The reason for this is ECCAA protecting this airline and preventing other airlines from operating which would bring competition to the market thus bringing down the cost of air travel. Most of the employees of this organization is past employees of this regional airline.

Well as long as Ralph Gonsalves is in WE will have to contend with LIAT whether we want it or not. Ralph will do ANY and EVERYTHING within his power to ensure that the LIAT monopoly remains; i.e until his new international airport is built and then he will push to promote SVG airways too...wait...... Ok then pray that a member of his carbinet crosses the floor and he is forced back to the polls; Arhnim Eustace MAY just have another plan for LIAT. makes sense?

The way I see it LIAT did not creat a monopoly for itself. Many mightier airlines like British Airways and American Eagle tried to do profitable business in the Caribbean. Caribbean Star came with Stanford's billions behind it. But they all went under when the reality hit them: that while the population of the region may be 40 million, less than 2 milion have the means or reasons to travel; that when fuel prices go up LIAT has no option but to pass on these increases to passengers just like electricity companies, supermarkets, and everybody else. The Caribbean does not have enough economic dynamism to fuel increased traffic. National and regional markets are wafer thin. Instead of beating up on LIAT beat up on the Governments. Get them to push through with the CSME so that economies and markets can be better integrated and thus spur business and economic growth. Get them to remove restrictions on the movement of people through the region and to improve the investment climate in their countries. Outside of the hotel compounds, the harsh reality is rampant unemployment and underemployment, crippling poverty, high dependency ratios, high crime levels, etc, etc.

This is Allan second bite at Liat. We all want cheaper fares but there is a proper way to go about doing that. Bring in the right planes, follow the rules and give others an opportunity to compete, like the local guy.

Allan can try as he want, Finally someone can tell hin no now mean it...next is Soufriere..to tell him never.

Competition in small markets like teh Caribbean is a figment; and impossibility. Allen is encouraging competition on the most profitable routes. Saint Lucia is not a shareholder of LIAT. If it was, it would have shared the concerns of Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Vincent on the impact which such cherry-picking competition would have on LIAT which must service unprofitable route with micro-markets. Maybe the solution is fo rLIAT to abandon these unprofitable routes too.

Chastanet doesn't know what he's about; and he's not consistent either. He can give million to legacy airlines (AA, Jetblue, etc) from the US to fly into the Saint Lucia without having any influence on the ticket prices of these airlines; but he wants to encourage competitiion for LIAT because he says its taicket prices are too high. Why doesn't he enoucrage SLASPA to reduce teh landing charges for LIAT? Why doesn't recommend that Saint Lucia invest in LIAT? At least he will get to see its accounts and influence the changes he wishes to see from the inside.
