Writer, is this for real? So what was the purpose of that s-called friend taking that bolom to your home? To do you wickedness.

Well there must be a reason why the Almighty God had me to read this article. I am currently experiencing some strange and unexplainable things regarding a man from Guyana, where I work overseas. I somehow keep feeling this nagging discomfort with his complete behaviour, which is just not normal, and in particula, the way his eyes apear when I look at hi. Something is not right. As I went one morning to usethe toilet I saw a fairly grown size frog in the toilet bowl, good thing, I looked down at the bowl, before I sat on it. I never used it since. Something about that man isn't comfortable. And I sense that he now tries to avoid me. I am a very strong praying person. I know the power which GOD has provided within me, that is to say, the power of the HOLY SPIRIT, and that man may have been doing all his evil crap, but to no avail. My anointing I know full well is powerful. I pray just like I breathe, none stop. Prayer and studying the BIBLE, Faith, and complete confidence in GOD gives those evil wretches the chill. Not to mention the name of JESUS.

Obviously dear Writer, you are an inherently good person, otherise, you might well have been affected negatively, in a physical sense.

But those of us who know the power of GOD ALMIGHTY, the only TRUE AND LIVING GOD, must remind ourselves of the power he demonstrated with DANIEL, THE ISREALITES, SAMPSON, JACOB, MORDECAI, SHADRACH, MISACH, AND ABEDNEGO.

THE GOD OF MOSES, IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD.

We had people with those in St. Lucia especially before the 1950s. One unfortunate person picked up one as a lost sick child was taking it to see a doctor. The owner on hearing of the 'capture' of this thing went to the person who had this thing saying 'Boufeelowlow, where you are go'? It replied 'Me go docteur'. The owner then said 'You sick non?' It said 'So dem a say'. 'Well fall down boop nan' the owner replied.

In times of hardship and misery people resort to all kinds of things to gain material wealth. It would appear that Guyanese culture encourages this. There are stories about Guyanese owning these things in some neighbouring Caribbean islands.

Well, well, well. The three bloggers above are a bunch of silly and superstitious fools. A "bolom" is a patois or french term that refers to a child. I think the writer has only cleverly used the term to inform that a miserable child visited his home and the child was involved in extensive disruption of the writer's property. I would rather think that Marquis (like myself and many other people too) does not like too many children around him because many parents cannot control their children. What has intrigued me here is the latitude taken by those bloggers to interpret the story otherwise. The mentality of Lucians!

If there is good and the opposite is evil, good people are gods and evil people when they are just 3 feet tall are boloms. Yes, we all know that calling little children boloms can be a form of endearment. But in our superstitious past, unexplained wealth was explained as someone dabbling in the occult. Today, they dabble in drugs.

What a twist! The drug baron in cabinet has lots of boloms terrifying the lives of people all over the place. The police took out a few and the place is quiet. These boloms, all of them dear friends of the baron are just a little more visible and taller than those of old. The police can shoot back at them and even kill them.

I was told that my great grand uncle was skilled in the occult...I wish he were alive, and maybe I would get some real answers to the mystery of these beings. But they truly do exist just as the "Greys" of the Extraterrestrial world exist. But that's a whole other dimension we are speaking of.

Have you ever seen movies about Dracula! Well Bram Stoker was right about one thing...Dracula can enter your house only if you open for him.
Suffice to say, you let the bolom in.
Could it be that your Guyanese friend was actually looking for someone for his bolom to eat? You see, usually, people with the bolom have to find food for the bolom depending on what promise they made to him when they created him. Well, in Guyana they call these creatures, "Bakoo," and they are created or can be found in the jungle of Suriname. Apparently, the native people, those short ones who look like the Phatites (pygmies) of Africa are the ones who possess the knowledge to create these beings. These creatures can make you dirty rich but they could make your life miserable too and even kill you. As the story goes, if the owner of the being decides to leave him and he is aware of it he will surely kill the owner. If the owner leaves him elsewhere he will torment the people or person where he is left. It could be from throwing stones on houses or crying loudly in the middle of the nights causing a lot of disturbances. Now it is said that the "bakoo" is very jealous and likes to be the center of attention ("Thou shall have no other friend or lover but me". he will even have relations with your wife. That sounds far fetched but from what I have learned by those who are knowledgeable about these freaks, they are very disagreeable beings. yes, they will make you rich and hurt people for you, but that is the only upside to them.

I am afraid you had a "bakoo" in your house, but better luck next time my friend, "No visitors after hours" particularly from Guyana!

I wish the writer had more time to elaborate a bit more on the artical. What I gathered from this article is that Marquis hosted a family with a troublesome little boy who just didn't know how to behave. He used his humour to refer to this child as a bolom. I don't think he meant it in any other way. Its unfortunate that some of us used this article to lash out on Guyanese. I am a St. Lucian but it hurts me to see how eager some of us are to single out people from another country. Lets not forget that there are a lot of St. Lucians outside of St. Lucia who have left in hopes of securing a better future for themselves and their families, just like many Guyanese in St. Lucia. Would it be fair to single them out that way?

This is too funny!!! I loved it. Wll done Mr EVMMM!

Perhaps Mr Marquis was trying to be funny. Perhaps it was all about an incorrigible child.
Whoever the child was who visited his house surely caused him a whole lot of stress. Who knows!
He spoke about a leg of lamb but he did not say that he had to cook it neither did he say the child ate it raw.
However, what we sometimes regard as sheer superstition is really true. Would we believe that there are actually extra terrestrials who walk among us? there are many things in this world which we tend not to believe until we experience them for ourselves. I sure would not like to come in contact with any "bolom," or what is perceived as one. Real or no, I'd prefer to stick to what I perceive as being "real.' I still think Mr Marquis came face to face with some disagreeable being and whether it hailed from Guyana or Bouton, it was real to him!

This story sound more like a fairy tale. Some made up story without any detail and not much of anything. I don't belive this one bit. Here friend was visiting from St. Lucia. Where did he get the bolom from. St Lucia or Guyana?

I have a picture of a bolom.. It is definately not just a child. It was found by a couple of my friends. Its a 3 foot tall creature definately not from our kind
