A number of developing countries were pressured by the United States to sign onto a highly controversial statement presented at the most recent session of the UN Human Rights Council. The statement and the U.S. press release boasting about their role in getting additional signers.
This statement advances the LGBT/sexual rights agenda under the usual banners of opposing “nondiscrimination,” the protection of “human rights,” and the prevention of “violence.” Its drafters also carefully slipped in the need to oppose “stigmatization.”
What they are not saying is that the gay/lesbian agenda does not define “sexual orientation” and they are 22 such “orientations” inclusive of pedophilia and beastiality looking for recognition as their orientation for which they have a “right”.
This statement is not just about protecting people from violence (which we all support), it is also about promoting the expression of diverse sexual lifestyles as a basic human right. The drivers of this language inevitably want to marginalize anyone who opposes or criticizes the expression of these lifestyles for any reason, including on cultural, religious, moral, social and/or scientific grounds. This is cultural imperialism at its worst! And, ironically, it is contrary to various UN conventions that protect cultural, ethical and religious values. The U.S. press release boasts that the statement was signed by countries in “every region of the world” but conveniently omits the fact that it was strongly opposed by the African Group, Russia, the Islamic voting bloc, and a number of other countries that were strong enough not to give in to U.S. pressure tactics.
Sexual rights are one of the most controversial social issues at the UN, but the U.S. and other supporters are trying to create the impression that there is global consensus on the matter. Why? So they can, as the Statement requires, call upon elements within the UN system such as the Universal Periodic Review process, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Special Procedures, to “continue addressing LGBT issues“ and eventually mainstream their agenda at the international level.
According to a report by the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, U.S. diplomats deceived some of the largely Catholic Latin American countries by telling them that the Holy See (the Vatican) supported the LGBT statement. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Here are some excerpts from the Holy See’s statement clarifying their unwavering position on sexual orientation: “. . . for the purposes of human rights law, there is a critical difference between feelings and thoughts, on the one hand, and behaviour, on the other. A state should never punish a person, or deprive a person of the enjoyment of any human right, based just on the person’s feelings and thoughts, including sexual thoughts and feelings. But states can, and must, regulate behaviours, including various sexual behaviours. Throughout the world, there is a consensus between societies that certain kinds of sexual behaviours must be forbidden by law. Paedophilia and incest are two examples.” Their statement went on to explain: “. .. People are being attacked for taking positions that do not support sexual behaviour between people of the same sex. When they express their moral beliefs or beliefs about human nature, which may also be expressions of religious convictions, or state opinions about scientific claims, they are stigmatized, and worse—they are vilified, and prosecuted. These attacks contradict the fundamental principles announced in three of the Council’s resolutions of this session. The truth is, these attacks are violations of fundamental human rights, and cannot be justified under any circumstances” One UN delegate told us their government is investigating how their name even got on the list as a supporter because the LGBT statement runs counter to their fundamental cultural values and their government’s position on sexual issues. At a recent forum hosted for UN delegates, so many countries complained about the strong arm pressure tactics the U.S. exerts on them on sexual orientation/sexual rights issues that the Americans at the forum were compelled to apologize for what theirown country was doing.
A UN Ambassador even asked a U.S.-based pro-family groups to “Please get your government off our backs!” in relation to sexual orientation issues.
In February, Malawi’s president spoke out against pressure from the U.S. and Germany who are withholding millions of dollars in aid because Malawi refuses to decriminalize homosexuality.
Members of the Malawi parliament from both houses have spoken out against this pressure that donor countries exert to legalize homosexuality.
Some Americans are ashamed at what the left wing Obama administration has been doing to bully other countries into accepting sexual rights that run counter to their religious and cultural values and which ironically also run counter to the values of many, if not the majority, of Americans.
Too much U.S. foreign policy is being driven by homosexual activists who are scattered throughout the U.S. government in policy positions. The sexual rights positions they are trying to impose on other countries and the means they are using for doing so would not be tolerated by the vast majority of Americans if done at home.
A number of American organizations are working on the awareness of the American people and key members of Congress on how their tax dollars are being used abroad to bully countries into accepting policies that undermine the family and promote diverse sexual lifestyles as being not only normal, but alleged “international human rights” that supposedly trump the religious rights of others to express their views. These organizations are also working with a number of pro-family NGOs and UN Member States to push back against the cultural imperialism of rich, developed countries, which are seeking to export the worst of Western culture and force it onto countries dependent on their foreign aid.

It is well known that St. Lucia was also bullied but held its ground but that other CARICOM countries sucommed to the American imperialism.
