The Gros Islet City Council should also look at redesigning that junction into a roundabout instead, complete with pedestrian crossings. This is desperately needed.

With the round about, traffic would flow easier and faster, and pedestrians would be able to cross the road at a more efficient pace.

Pleaseeee!! Give me a break, will you? "...the proprietors of the Rodney Ball Mall are disposed to offering a simple solution..." The reasons these poor vendors were sent marching is all because of those same business proprietors, who felt that the vendors were interfering with their daily cash intake/receipts. END OF STORY.

Not excluding the last comment as it too has a valid argument, it is true that this is an extremely dangerous area road wise. It would be sensible to put even a mini roundabout there, also this junction holds up traffic all day long so people are stuck in their cars waiting to go, re sighting the buses would also benefit, poor rush hour traffic (why is rush hour when nothing moves??); this is a nightmare at the junction being discussed and at the one past Marisule. I also think the buses stopping all over the place to let people cross puts people at risk, at the very least put a pedestrian crossing further down from the junction.

What do you expect of an island of an illiteracy rate of 90% and who is in acceptance of mediocrity. The word POOR is strategically used to the convenience of some political zealots in this country. Firstly if you are poor the bank will not give you a mortgage; secondly people must realize that stlucia is a developing nation and that those tibootic thinking has to stop; thirdly we need to be proactive and less reactive in this country and lastly we need to be more innovative and less dependent on government and my tax paying dollar. on that note i would like to laud the council for taking this proactive and decisive action to avert any catastrophe that would have happen on that road.

One again the pretty boy minister is mute on the issues.

This nice guy image will sting him in the ballot box.

I have never seen an MP so passive.

How come we never heard of such a hut or of such a proposal by the Rodney bay mall owners before? How come the vendors were not informed beforehand?
Jeremie Sayers is the one who ought to "put a cap" on it. He knows only too well that Pedestrian protection was not the reason why the vendors were prohibited from vending around that area. When are these people going to stop insulting our intelligence? Anywhere vendors go they will find a reason to pursue them, because the objective is to stop people from vending on the roadsides, particularly when the vending poses some competition of sorts to the bigger business concerns. Come again Jeremie!

The person who wants to applaud the City Council of their stance ought to keep their opinion off this blog. Do people have to drag on their backsides to be poor? You obviously do not have to struggle to care for your children or to sell the shirt off your back to feed them. have you ever gone to bed without supper? Well, that is what poverty is all about. So give the vendors a damn break. You speak about illiteracy but you are the one who is illiterate because it does not take a brain scientist to see what is going on here. This society caters only for the rich...those less fortunate has no say whatsoever...so you get a grip and tell the City Council or the Town Council to find some other ambition to pursue...quit hounding the vendors who are trying to make an honest living! Moreover tell them to stop lying to make it seem as if they care so much for the ordinary man. Danger or no danger, proactive or no, they had a right to tell the vendors of their plans before they booted them out of the area. Or is Rodney Bay to nice for the shabby looking coconut vendors and the other local vendors? Please.
