What the heck do historians, economics and lawyers know about anthropology and social anthropology? Not much.

That is why the framers of CARIFTA, CARICOM and CSME have resorted to entertaining us and amusing themselves by believing that they are creating anything more viable than paper institutions.

The evidence is in their faces. They drink to the hollowness of these creations at each and every heads of government meeting. The results are invariably the same. A lot of nothing! Send in the clowns!

Excuses for their failures to take positive action to achieve the desired end result in the interest of their people. The fear of taking responsibility for the minor teething problems which is inevitable when decisions are made.
Another excuse to meet, drink, laugh and pretend to do something at the expense of every tax payer across the region. Shame on every Prime Minister across the region for not sticking his or her head above the crowd to say enough is enough we must act or call it a day Caricom is a dead duck floating in the pound.

Those people don't understand that each Island is a continent of itself and that's where the problem lies. Every island is unique and you can't force the people to come together, the OECS is willing but CARICOM is dead...so let it be.

What has turned out to be most comical is the last PM of Barbados. He and Dr. Anthony wrote the documents for the formation of the CSME. Lo and Behold! First test of the relationship, Arthur stood up on a political platform and condemned the participation of a St. Lucian in the Barbados Parliament.

St. Lucians are only useful as consumers of things produced in Barbados. Ironically what we have here is an architect of CSME attacking a positive development of the CSME!

Jamaica said that the small islands would be an economic burden. They scuttled the Federation. Trinidad with its new binary mathematics said, 1 from 10 leaves zero.

The faces of CARICOM leaders should replace those of the jokers in our packs of cards.
