I was a little amused that you said that you are weary of promises made to woo persons to the point that if they vote for the right party these promises will be fulfilled ... this is what electoral politics is all about ,, everywhere (world wide) politicians tell the electorate thIS is what I will do for you if you vote for me.. it is not something that is unique to St lucia, so my dear friend you will just have to use your head to decide whether what is promised is doable and whether you can trust the individual to do what is promised . THE LATTER CAN BE BASED ON PAST EXPERIENCE or your knowledge of the individual etc...

Your other point on politicians craeting a plan of action for presentation to the electorate (my summary of your last point) .. this is done please read the manifestos of the individualsparties and you will see that their respective plans of action are revealed therein. The platform meetings are really for expanding and clarifying what is mentioned in the manifestos but sometimes we see that the people tend to get restless when the discussions are at tthat level ... "it does not have enough sauce for them " one person once said.. so the politicians pour on the sauce sometimes maliciously and what does it become ? maypwis .. personal attacks,,, check it out . Go to one of the meetings (which you appear to view with disgust) and you will see for yourself and therefore will be able to make an informed decision about the position of politicians .....even in the US and the UK a little maypwis is given by the politicians....but not in a way where the press can make the electorate turn against them for being so evil .... yes some do make mistakes to their detriment What I suspect that we have to guard against is what I term "political steroids" the amount of external funds given to political parties by foreign governments with the concomitant result of control ..the side effects , like steroids, may be deadly (politically) in the long run for many individuals .......
