If people want to learn how to save the planet, they better come to St.Lucia.

You would have expected to find such a state-of-the-art animation centre in the parts of the world where pollution is threatening our planet - China, America, Brazil, Europe, etc.- but somehow, it ended up here in St.Lucia where very few people will lay eyes on it. Hummmmm!!! Are we being used?

Anonymous said...

That is the problem with country-bookie leaders. Who decides are development path? You can bet that it is not these retards.

The construction, foreign exchange, and employment aside, is this centre what is going to get us out of poverty or train us regarding how to make products or produce services that bring in a steady flow of money into the country?

When others give us projects that do NOT complement our national development needs, we are being used. Our economic condition remains the same. Our social conditions remains the same with more and more frustrated youth going into drug trafficking and murder.

For example, Morne du Don from the Chaussee to Egard is a hotbed of crime. This whole area is flanked by the Grave Yard, New Village, Bois Patat, La Clery to the north joined at Detour Cadet corner, and Egard on the east. Can the planet centre work to give the young people living the area alternatives to trafficking in drugs?

umm ok... this is random. However, it seems like something positive and I applaud and encourage any type of positive educational opportunity for the people of St. Lucia. I hope this is as promising as it sounds and that our people take the time to go in there and learn at least one thing from the experience.

Nice project. BUT why in St Lucia? Most suspicious!
This is not really for St Lucians. At best, it could be used as a typical tourist distraction - something for empty-headed vacationers with nothing to do. But the deeper truth is this is nothing but a disguise for something-else, and it's most likely something connected with spying, tracking, and globally controlling humans.
Maybe now St Lucians will begin to question who is REALLY in charge of our nation. Here's a clue: IT'S NO ST LUCIAN WHATSOEVER!!!
Often it pays to be a little paranoic, e.g., Beware of Gift-Bringing Greeks!!

Reading the comments, now I see why little Barbadoes is ahead of us. Do we always have to think negative when something new comes to our island? seriously! Now why not St.Lucia? We sit and complain while immigrants come and build our island...oh yea and we complain even more. So we just have to be suspicious on everything? when for years the Amigos are building on our heads. The local druglords doing the same and again yes do we show our concerns?...enough said. I have been to the center..Its very informative and educational. We should try to be optimistic and see what happens. God Bless

sigh the first 4 comments say a lot about the mentality of St. Lucians. Then we are all sad when hurricanes hit St. Lucia and the castries river over flowing because of pollution by guess who St Lucians... ual ignorant people does get me sick

Bloggers #5 and #6 you are evidently ignorant and naive - read this recent article - http://www.caribbeannewsnow.com/topstory-US-suspected-Bahamas-terror-ties-6555.html
The US is interested in the Caribbean for MANY reasons. Think about these matters:(1) Gadhafi has connections with and interest in St Lucia and other Caribbean nations, (2) the US wants Gadhafi destroyed and out of Libya - they have said so openly, (3) since 9/11 the US government placed Caribbean peoples and travelers as high-security risks - especially from Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana; and don't forget, there's still Cuba and the memories of Grenada!
As an American would say: "St Lucians, wake up and smell the coffee."
I would say: "St Lucians, don't be stupid, although there's nothing we can do about it - THEY ARE WATCHING US TOO - at least be aware of what's going on around you; and remember too, Hewanorra was originally a US Airforce Base."
To be forewarned is to be forearmed!

OK. We are going about telling the whole world to save the goddam planet. But in our own backyard, the Castries river, stinking and dirty Castries itself, the Troumassee and Tapion need rubbish and silt removal.

Why our country-bookies and lowlifes in government did not get Germany to send their own-make caterpillars to clean up OUR OWN environment, rather than make us the watchdog to tell others how to save the world. Small-minded idiots! St. Lucia is idiot country.

Instead of an animation centre that creates no jobs; why not bring the IMF or the World Bank instead. After all, we seem to be mighty important to the rest of the world.

I don't see anything ignorant about my comment anonymous #5

*Armchair Anonymous's head is shaking*

I have never read such ignorance in my life!! Before casting comments, have any of you even VISITED the The Planet Centre? Have any of you even asked "what is my contribution? how can I help?" (I was asked to contribute, but was unable to due to lack of local resources - but my good intention is still there).

How many St Lucians have ever even tried to raise the bar to make a better St Lucia, instead of sitting back to criticise, uselessly, ignorantly, and even with no basis?

I'll bet my bottom dollar, that Anon #1, 2, 4, 5, 6 & 7 will NOT visit The Planet Earth. I would just love to see them there. see there jaws drop. Blogger #1 claims that "very few [St Lucians] will lay eyes on it" ... meaning that La Place Carenage is not for St Lucians to visit!!!! See the ignorance? I go there to use their toilets even!!!

Don't knock it till you've tried it people!! Go see for yourself, and ask questions - there are St Lucians employed there to answer any "bois-bois" questions you have.

Whenever I read such ignorance, it shames me! Really!!!

For me, "OUR PLANET CENTRE OPEN" , is a solution that is looking for a problem to solve.

St. Lucia cannot save the world. We cannot even save our posteriors from the hordes of scumbags and miscreants both inside and outside the UWP party and followers, far less the world.

"OUR EMPLOYMENT CENTRE OPEN". Now that would be a solution to one of major problems!

Let's hope it becomes a major tourist attraction for more than backpackers.

But if we had fewer semi-literate people inside the UWP so-called government, and Chastenet had al lot more common sense and acumen than what he says, then smarter people would have tried to get something as attractive like a spaceship to St. Lucia instead.

Almost NEVER do we ever see anything done in St. Lucia to educate the citizens about something. This is something positive that should be applauded. To the people saying bring more jobs, yes it is true that We need jobs, heck I need a job but we alos need to educate our population about worldly issues. To be quite honest you won't see any effort towards job creation in St. Lucia because our politicians know just how uneducated and ignorant many of our people are. This is what allows them to steal from us and as long as people remain uneducated and continue to fight down positive efforts such as this then forget about these jobs that you speak of.

Go in there and learn something because climate change affects EVERYONE around the world. Last I checked St. lucia was in the world although some citizens continue to act like they are from some alternate universe. Hurricane Tomas was not a figment of our imagination. Have you seen the forecast for the current season? We need to educate people. Where we build our homes, farm, obtain water and so much more are ALL affected by Climate change

If you think climate change is unimportant and we are being used by Germany then continue to revel in your ignorance. However while doing so, let your government know about your displeasure in asking nations around the world to help St. Lucia repair 900 MILLION dollars in Hurricane tomas debt since environmental issues are non factors

Unlucky 13 you are so-o-o-o-o-o-o NAIVE!! It ain't funny.

Your car is out of gas, so do you think that if you change the tires it will start to take you anywhere soon?

Our negre mawons, gallows bait, jailbirds, drug barons, scumbags, and semi-literates in government today are happy to fool the ignorant like you that every stupid project represent progress.

OECD, TAIWAN, and PRC dollars may be useful, but you don't see those projects providing St. Lucians with skills and technical knowledge to help create long term jobs at home, and help our export performance to increase GDP. Do you?

That's the difference! That is what's necessary. That is where it is at today. The Cold War and colonialism done gone. Stop thinking like a country-bookey.

You are taking a big 6 for a 9, or even a 99. Go on like the many idiots in St. Lucia believing that every construction project means progress. A new hospital replacing an old one is maintenance. You are just 'running twice as hard to stay just where you are'.

We have 40% of the population living in poverty and mal-nutrition while the crooks in government get their faces and bank accounts fat with the peoples' money. Does this centre help with that?

Wow! The entire world knows that St. Lucia is idiot country.

Before you call me ignorant, I challenge you to tell me when I said that we do not need long term jobs. At what point in time did I name projects that the government has done and considered them progress. If you cannot appreciate that there is more to this world than living hand to mouth then that is a personal problem.

I am far from ignorant my dear. I am far from being fooled by any government. Let me make it quite clear, the ignorant ones are those sitting around waiting on the government for assistance. I assure you I am doing none of that. You know nothing of me except some words of praise that I have left here for an educational center which has been set up to provide information about climate change. The fact that these words of praise incensed you so and led you to insult me by calling me ignorant and a country bookie however speaks volumes about your character and I understand now why you would not be able to appreciate the value of something educational.

I don't remember myself, the article or anyone else suggesting that this center would solve all the ills of our society because it will not. It is something EDUCATIONAL. Perhaps if you and others learnt to appreciate EDUCATION then there would be more of an impetus towards long term jobs.

If your people are uneducated, no little about world issues and cannot appreciate the value of something that is purely EDUCATIONAL, these technical knowledge you speak of is a pipe dream

Sounds like something which is good.
But does st lucians know in depth ho are those persons invovled,
At what cost to st lucians.
Whilst its a good attraction, yet still we need to know which persons and countries involved,
Does the minister of tourism involved, As he is a sneakydee minister, along with the others,
As election drawing near watch out for desperate attempts by this goverment, trying to make believe they can fool the electorate.

Anonymous said...

I think it's an experiment geared towards tourists, if they can't learn at home then they sure will on their holidays. I'd like to visit there when I come home in the near future.

Armchair Anonymous said...

to Anon #14 ... under which rock did you crawl from? Surely you seem to be one of those "Nay Sayers", who will never "go see for themselves". Negative! Negative! Negative! - that is where YOUR education got you.

I urge you to visit The Planet Centre and see and know FOR YOURSELF, instead of staying on the back burner and pointing fingers. And while you are there ASK QUESTIONS!! The answers will surprise you (or would they? Nooo - you'd blame some politician).

And since when does this have to be political? I suppose if I spit in front of you, you'd turn it into a political affair?

To Anon #16 - your uneducated petticoat is showing!!

Anonymous said...

Armchair Anonymous, we all take pride in the advancement of our beautiful island; but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't question certain decisions.

Especially since our world has over 6.92 billion people who need to be educated on pollution control, why would this one of a kind, state-of-the-art animation centre end up here in St.Lucia with a population of less than 1/4 million.
Shouln't it be located where it would receive maximum exposure? Some cities around the world have upward of 20 million people.

Anonymous said...

Knowing about world issues such as these cannot bring home the bacon. You have just pooh poohed the idea of technical knowledge as a pipe dream.

You sound so much like Jook Bois, the PM, and Rick rolled into one. Those idiots do not know that St. Lucia is already marginalized and condemned to the back waters like Haiti.

Forsooth, our hapless imbeciles have created a situation where 40 percent of the population is under the poverty line already, and 20 percent remains unemployed. Those matters should be our priorities and not saving the earth.

Energy conservation should be the task of the electric company. It stands to gain with this postponing the purchase of needless generating power.

Come on! Do you think that if we were to advertise the Centre in Der Spiegel, Le Figaro, New York Times, Time Magazine, London Times, Economist, and the Wall Street Journal that a whole lot of people who alter their vacation plans just to come to visit this centre in St. Lucia?

So much for your ignorance and that of the current administration. What you call a pipe dream is what has made Singapore, a country smaller than the size of St. Lucia an economic power in the world.

No amount of daily jawboning of their usual total ignorance by complete idiots and political harlots like Jook Bois will make this country great or bring this country any prosperity.

Besides, he has just gone viral on youttube giving St. Lucian tourism a blackeye with his foul mouth and vile description of the unfortunate rape of foreign women who came to help St. Lucia, adding insult to injury.

But such idiots are advisors to our numbskull prime minister. Do you think that this project improves the job situation and the social decay being created by the bile and filth of such talk show hosts like Juke Bois?

We can not even fix our own darn roads, because we voted for far too many semi-literate and countrybookie ministers who cannot see the forest for the trees.

Forsooth, we cannot even fix our own posteriors if our own very lives depended on it, yet we want to fix the world. Give me a freaking break!

workinprogress said...

To Anonymous ?? you know who you are

I already said that the project would not solve the ills of St. Lucia. I have reiterated that many times before. Never have I mentioned the current government of St. Lucia and praised them for this project. I have applauded the project as a good EDUCATIONAL purpose. I did not pooh pooh on the idea of technical knowledge. I pooh poohed on your beliefe that your people would have any sort of advancement without knowledge of worldy issues.

I don't understand why people like you cannot separate praise or criticisim of something from politics. For the people who visit Carnival, what great benefit do they receive besides seeing people simulate sex on the road on a monday and tuesday in July. This is something simply to be enjoyed and learnt from. Not everything in life s going to provide you with a solution for all your problems.

It is because people like Juke Bois are uneducated they spew such vile comments. it is because people in the current government are uneducated about world issues they make horrible decisions and have shamed St. Lucia.I highly doubt that this project was the brainchild of the current government.

That does not take away from the fact that we can learn something from the project. It something EDUCATIONAL for everyone in St. Lucia. You are missing my point that I applaud it as something EDUCATIONAL. Yes St. lucians do need to know about worldy issues. In case you didn't know, the people of Singapore remain poor and are largely exploited. They remain uneducated and whatever income flows into the country, rest assured does not trickle down to the masses who really need it.

I definitely remember saying that Hurricane tomas was not a figment of our imagination. Look at many of the places that were destroyed. The homes were built in places prone to landslides. Our trees have been cut down in the forests. All of these thing pertain to climate change. We are not going to fix the world with this Planet Center but we can learn a little more about how to protect our own little world which is ST.LUCIA.

Take out the politics from your eye. We are being marginalized because we do not EDUCATE our people. How ignorant do you sound fighting and tearing down something EDUCATIONAL because of politics. You along with all other St. Lucians who a cannot see beyond YELLOW and RED are a disgrace. People like you are the ones who keep St. Lucia in the dark ages.

Go and fight down an airport expansion project that is ill timed and a waste of money at this time. Keep fighting for the government to fix our roads like the Barre D' Lisle that Lucians use daily. Fight for them to fix our broken education system. These fights matter. A fight against something educational, you sound ridiculous. Of course we all have reservations as to the timing and funding of the project particularly when it comes to this present government (with an election year approaching too) but at the end of the day, this is EDUCATIONAL and should be valued for that.

Anonymous said...

Shorter #21: Should have said this: 'I have no understanding of the difference between criticizing the very misleading overemphasis on benefits to St. Lucia on a display for tourists that displaces a requirement to address our immediate critical social problems.'

workinprogress said...

Anonymous, you are clearly foolish. You have shown that the concept of education eludes you. Read a book sometime maybe you can force yourself to generate some new neurons.

Anonymous said...

You sound like Juke Bois, the PM, Rick and Tim all put together as one. Because you cannot understand the difference between just going to a school house and being given knowledge that will give you a prosperous living when you leave, you think that all others are as dumb as those leading the ship of fools that is St. Lucia today.

workinprogress said...

no I just think you are as dumb as them

Anonymous said...

Is that your be all and end all of your counter-argument? Then you must be a UWP cabinet member. Only imbeciles make such kinds of arguments.

workinprogress said...

The SLP prides itself on having forward thinking intellectuals in their party. I certainly hope you do not belong to the SLP because you are a disgrace to not only them but all St. Lucians. You are just another ignorant person who has never done or seen anything worthwhile in your life and would like everyone else to remain the same. They won't. "Our Planet" is here regardless of what you think and will stay as long as possible regardless of what you say. How does it feel to know there is absolutely nothing you can do about that?

Anonymous said...

For what I have done for my future, neither UWP nor SLP cannot touch me. For my part, you can eat Planet, sleep Planet, and drink Planet. No problem. I hope the goons in and out of the UWP don't catch you at the end of a barrel of a gun. Sleep tight. Some brave souls will still come to see the Planet. Then all will be swell.

workinprogress said...

They will never catch me at the barrel of any gun for I too have prepared a very prosperous future for myself which much like yours is in no way affiliated with or can be tampered with by any political party
