Spider Montoute's loss is the hardest to swallow. I don't know what else this poor guy could have done, with the limited resourses at his disposal, for Gros islet.

Emma, I predict, will be out after one short term in office.

Try crushing it and drink a little more water, it'll go down eventally. :)

i know many ppl gave various predictions and luckily i was successful in predicting 2011 elections as the figures now stand ... well it was shear luck perhaps but i looked at it from the perspectives of who is via-ing for the position of the island prime minister and if u just look at it from that angle its clear most st lucians despite their obvious biases would prefer dr.K.ANTHONY AS PM... i think if u ask 17 ppl to choose i think honestly if they tell the truth u will get 11 of them choosing dr.Kenny Anthony..as a choice over Mr. S.King ... irrespective of constituencies which tend to be pro uwp or pro labour i smelled the outcome in nov of 2010 a yr earlier ...whats my next prediction ? coming soon..lol

This election taught us a lesson that every vote counts. Whose vex that their representative didn't win their seat, then suck salt. The same tactics used by people who were quick to knock on doors and load up people on a bus to go to these rallies n blockos should have also done the same to round up people to bring them to polling station been.
It's over, said and done. Time to welcome our new PM and his team and we as St.Lucians come together, remove our yellow or red lenses and hold the new government accountable to carry their deeds outlined in the Manifesto. I agree it's not going to be easy but that does not mean that we should sit back and accept mediocrity. Just ask the UWP how that worked out for them.

So you can smell the future!!! It's good to know that you've finally found a purpose for that big nose of yours.

Keep on smelling.

Spider's loss goes to show that a candidate can work how hard, as long as the outlook of his party looks gloom he will go also. Spider was a good guy, he worked well, but his party and its image was his demise. Gros-Islet people were not happy about the image of the uwp pre elections 28th nov. 2011. So spider took the blow. Poor guy.

Anonymous said...

Blogger #1 above, Did you say "limited resources", well Spider had access to the most funding after King. He had 1. The SSDF/Proud of which he allocated 60% to Gros Islet despite the National Poverty Report showing his community to be among the less needy relative to say Anse La Raye/Can, the Denerrys etc.2. Min of Youth/Sports spent a disproportionate amount of its budget on facility in GI, again neglecting other national priorities/need areas, and 3. Because he was not with the original Super 8 he received his Chou million$$$ later than the others he had considerably more to "waste on Ti-Canals". Your "poor guy" should not have, A) delegated our franchise to his surrogates such as Ren and Henry Lucien, Alie, Bano etc. and choose to operate as aan absentee MP, B) Cooperate with his Cabinet colleagues e.g Com/Works to have them maintain/repair the road, waterways infrastructure instead of Badmouthing them in private whilst pretending in public to be a team player. And they all knew that and despised him for it. As for Emma being out next election, it is totally in her hands. I hope she gets her priorities right and works within a team to deliver for all, fairly and on merit and stay in touch - the people of GI did not vote for surrogates, she has to continue the community/town hall meetings. I need my roads attended to as a matter of priority. God bless SLU.

@ 8:29am first UWP had access to Taiwanese funds which the boasted about but now Spider had "limited resources" Give me a break. Which is it. Limited funds or Chou's millions. Pick one and stick to it.

Spider's Loss is not hard to swallow. I hate how everyone wants to make it seem like he was an innocent victim due to his party's mistakes. Have you forgotten that spider was with them EVERY step of the way. If he was not he would have spoken out against them and he didn't thereby making himself complicit in his own demise. Everytime he remained silent, this was a quiet endorsement of UWP misdeeds. He was not some innocent school boy who was taken advantage of. He knew full well what he was doing. AND BTW He did not represent only Gros Islet, he represented St. Lucia. GOODBYE SPIDER!

I am happy for the losses suffered by Joseph and Montoute especially. They got punished for not having traits of character like honesty like the rest of the UWP in the Tuxedo Affair.

It is a good lesson for the SLP. They have won the seats based on winnings of paper-thin margins. No doubt Taiwanese corruption dollars played a huge part.

We still have a very prominent curse left over from senile Compton in the HOP to get rid of next time. That is if the US does not give us a huge helping hand.

Ignorance still flourishes. Our Village Idiot in Chief still managed to win his seat. We will perhaps hear less ignorance in local politics. I hoped and prayed for this change. That grinning idiot should have lost. Mr. Chou's money is at work again, I suppose.

That fart-smeller of a country-bookie type MP who chose to put the provocation of placing his constituency office some 40 feet or so away from his rival's home deserved to lose. There is some justice after all.

One of my happiest results was that liar's lost in Soufriere. He will now have to find a real job for a change. Put those degrees to work! The low fruit of easy money by fooling people is not available now.

Thanks SLP for being there. Thanks again for helping us to rid ourselves from some real stinking people, nasty backward idiots, crooked and tiefing politicians, the potty-mouthed MPs, lowlifes, and real jailbirds. God bless Saint Lucia.

to anonymous # 2 - what can u smell in the future if u can tell me then.. what i want from any gov which i have yet to see is INNOVATIONS & STANDARDS.. we in the cbean are lacking that so so much so if labour does show a level of this then i would like that to be my next prediction..INNOVATIONS- LIKE- more wi-fi hotspots island wide, sizable parks for families to relax, a museum that displays visual tech of our universe or past civilizations and our history,etc..STANDARDS - esp needed in the public service, garbage collection and penilizing those who deliberately cause damage to our environment be it individual or company, bringing to justice any one who breaks our laws whether doctor , politician, CEO.. etc-- i will add to the list of STANDARDS AND INNOVATIONS ASAP

The shocker! November 28, 2011. A date which the UWP will never forget. They really thought that they would win.Gangster, thugs and the like. Go look for a real job now. Rufus and Ti Pwair toot, I am so happy those 2 arrogant fools didn't win a seat. And also that idiot Doddy. (gets it done) Get what done? Stupidity? All their energy was wasted on trying to make one man and woman look bad. (Dr Kenny Anthony & Janine Compton) Grynberg, Rochamel, blah, blah, blah! Look what it cost them. They made Dr Anthony more popular than he ever was.Kenny Anthony is now the "Bin Laden" of St Lucia.

I voted the "poor guy" into office on Dec 11, 2006 and I didn't see him again until Nov 09, 2011 at a hurriedly arranged town hall meeting at Bay Gardens, AFTER EMMA PASS !!!!!! I endured/suffered with bad roads all that time, until the EVENING of FRIDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2011 when I saw the equipment by MJI hotel when I returned from work (by the way it is still there but all work has ceased). He has not even made a comment, shown some concern or discussed the traffic congestion at the various junctions along the Castries - GI H'way. You see once the Ti-Canals were flowing and his minions were OK he formed the mistaken notion that he had bought the support of sufficient malaway to secure his pension. Then the shocker came in the result of his party's internal tracking polls which showed him trailing "No-hope" Emma. Hence the desperation and insult of the last minute road fixing programme. All that money wasted with no PLAN, WITH PRIOROITY GIVEN TO LONG TERM SUSTAINABILITY AND BOOSTING PRODUCTIVITY, NO VISION THE PEOPLE PERSIH. So glad to see the back of Spider for his lack of vision, leadership and strenght of character to stand-up for what's good/decent. he got what he worked for and jsutly deserve. Hope he learns his lesson.

Anonymous said...

All spider had to do to keep his seat was maintain the same number of votes as the last election. With 2000 new voters added to Gros Islet this should not have been a problem.

Most of the other UWP gained votes as compared to 2006 even those who eventually lost like Bousquet, Mondesir, Eziekel

Only Frederick and Spider lost votes compared to 2006 and Frederick loss of votes was expected given the visa issues. Spider's loss of votes is more remarkable and probably indicative of a poor campaign from him where he did not take his opponent as seriously as he should have.

Anonymous said...

Let there be unity.

Anonymous said...

As soon as the visa issue became real, the crime rate went down even lower! It figures! But with the kinds of people that have taken over in that constituency money talks! Making the difference were those sixty-eight drug pushers!

Anonymous said...

Why are we feeling sorry for Spider Montoute? The man had his time to prove himself worthy and if he did then so be it. The thing is now he lost his seat...suck it up and move on. We have bigger and better things to think about now and the one bigger thing is that the SLP work with us in the development of our country and our people. The dust has settled so let us stop thinking of what could have or should have been shall we! Let us look ahead and quit looking back.

Proper analysis of these results will tell alot. The SIX constituencies which were won by the SLP in 2006 and the SIX constituencies won by the UWP this election 2011, must be examined closely. Evidently, these residents do not believe in supporting a party at any cost. They vote who they believe is worthwhile, one way or another. These constituencies must never be taken for granted.

On the other hand, those the SLP lost in 2006 and those the UWP lost in 2011, must be examined closely. They do not vote party generally. They do not demonstrate any strong alliance, they vote if they believe the candidate is worth it. Good showing by the electorate. They must never be taken for granted, as it was a few years during Compton's reign.

Notwithstanding the split of the votes in Micoud north, by SLP, JEANNINE and the independent, the electorate gave Gail Regobert a sound lead, and that says a heck of a lot. Compton ain't important any more. It is over for the Compton's. They are not loved nor respected. They did it to themselves, by dancing with Richard Frederick and Rufus Bousquet, then telling people that these same people were responsible for Compton's death? The when they do not get to be the be-all-and-end-all, they proceed to do a nasty on the UWP. That just stinks, and the people saw through them, and trashed all of them, daughter, mother, father et al.

Anonymous said...

I hope Dr Anthony does a better job than he did back thenwhen . UWP did leave us with the start of some nice roads , Hope the SLP keeps the good work up

Anonymous said...

Enlightens me.

What nice road?
Where was it built?
When was it built?
What were the cost, (if ever 'your' "nice roads" were built), of those "nice roads"?

They surely left St Lucia in a state of shame, scandals, etc etc...we all know the rest.

Thanks heaven Kenny is back to restore St Lucia to its hitherto envious position in the Caribbean.

Anonymous said...

I think most St.Lucians would agree that King took the high-road while Kenny took the low-road in this past election.

In other words, King came across as the educated and civilized candidate while Kenny came across as the uneducated cannibalistic barbarian.
You see how hunger for power can transform people?

Anonymous said...

Yet King with all his "civility" and "education" could not come up with a Thesis Statement and Positive campaign Strategy for this election, nor could he controlled Richard Frederick and Rufus Bosquet, thus, the electorate sent him where he naturally belongs - in opposition. And he will stay there for a very, very, very long time.

I do think Kenny has learnt his mistakes (they all make mistakes - at least with Kenny's mistakes, we could actually see with our own eyes what he accomplised 1997-2006) and we shall see a better Kenny as Prime Minister.

Kenny is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Ok, above, I hear you. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. I said he has "chaged" due to what I saw when he was sworn it. He sounded sincere.

Talking of scandals, surely you don't want to go that route, do you?

And yes, the two hotels now employs more than 600 St. Lucians; 600 St Lucians that would otherwise be on the streets - jobless.

Anonymous said...

Yet King with all his "civility" and "education" could not come up with a Thesis Statement and Positive campaign Strategy for this election, nor could he controlled Richard Frederick and Rufus Bousquet, thus, the electorate sent him where he naturally belongs - in opposition.

-----------------

Making a positive impression on the Opposition benches is even harder than on the benches on the opposite side. Besides, Kenny never strengthened the PAC. The country-bookie minded jackass, Marcus made no headway. He did not even know where to start when asked.

King is just about to make a fool of himself. He is up against people who are more educated than himself and who have a greater knowledge of the parliament than himself. He will almost certainly show where Compton put the broomstick.

But where does 'ti croix en chou labar' show civility and taking the high road? In the Central Castries ghetto perhaps. Is that not where most of the scum and slimebags live and work, doing the Devil's work? They call murder, and selling drugs making a living.

Civility my big toe! Your head and your posterior changed places?

Anonymous said...

Indeed, I had forgotten the UWPwEE most becoming campaigne slogan, when they shouted obscenities in the posteriors of Labour supporters - very civil were they!!

Those obscenities were broadcasted on loud speakers for the benefits of sum and sundry - young and old welcomed.

Now you have nerve talking about civility!! EXTREMELY SHORT MEMORY.

As for your "King came across as the educated..." ad neaseaum.

Flambeaus only know '1984' type of George Orwell politics. Good is bad, and bad is good. That monkey in earrings for an Attorney General said politics was for bad boys. This follows the introduction of a drug baron and a real living jailbird ex-convict as a foreign minister. I understand both cannot fly to the US. No visas. Their visas have been revoked. Two less returnees from penitentiaries on US flights back home.

Kenny Anthony made a speech that was both passionate and had the people of the country at its heart I hope he mean´t every word otherwise it will be more of the same, and if nothing changes my guess is that America will intervene and become caretakers to drag St. Lucia into the 21st century. There is so much to do, I hope the innovative messages from the Independant candidates were heard and acted upon as they made more sense than the organised parties, so if you have learned by your past mistakes Prime Minister also be humble enough to learn from other bright individuals who had the people of the country at heart also.

King is not the "nice man" he shows to the electorate. Ask all the people to whom he has not returned calls, reneged on promises, kept waiting for hours outside his office or simple failed to be civilized to.

Montoute is a vacous, empty headed politician with no driving principles, no real track record to speak of and only an ambition to be Prime Minister. He like former Prime Minister King is not "nice" as many have found out and cannot be trusted.

I am happy to say I was one of these voters with at least 4 family members who voted against him even though we are normally UWP voters. Our relationship with him made us aware that he is a liar, not to be trusted, and I will do like him and still smile in his face when I see him.

Good riddance to bad rubbish and the failure of the United Workers Party was not because we wanted the Labour Party back in power but that we prefered the "lesser of two evils".

The inept King, the felon Bousquet, the "Don" Fredericks, the two faced Montoute, the scamp Guy Joseph, the so called pastor Mayers, the "spend all you money" Chastanet and hotwired Mondesir had to go. That incompetent bunch forced us to vote for a lesser incompetent in Dr. Anthony and only have themselves to blame.

I like the way the Taiwanese had already met with Kenny before the elections to iron out their differences. Even they know that the UWP bunch were misfits.

In congratulating KDA, this is what Portia Miller had to say...Jamaica’s People’s National Party (PNP) led by Portia Simpson Miller has congratulated the SLP on its success.

The PNP president said the party, under the leadership of Dr Anthony, has returned to power to continue the work that was started years ago and to provide the high quality of governance for which the party has become known.

“During his tenure as prime minister 1997 – 2006, Dr Anthony led St Lucia to record investments in tourism, infrastructure and general economic development,” Simpson Miller said.

Here is my wish list for a 21st century St. Lucia:
1.During his term in office Dr.Anthony visit every school on the island(Symbolism).
2.Maximize the resources of All regional and international organizations to further the development of St Lucia(don't beg be savvy).
3.Go heavy with technology:internet access, cut taxes on computers.
4.Get people excited about learning a foreign language(spanish, manderin etc).
5.Be bold in encouaging entrepreneurship.Provide support to those who are willing to try.
6.Connect with St.Lucians who live overseas. This huge resource has been neglected for too long.Bring them into the conversation.God Bless St. Lucia.

Someone indicated that the UWP had limited resources on the ground. That is a boldface lie! They had millions so much so that they wasted it on practically everything from chicken and rum to businesses. These guys have become true millionaires overnight.

It's now time that Kenny put his Cabinet together given the qualified group of persons with him. The electorate has spoken, and it is time that we continue the business of the country with every Candidate who struggled to make this victory for the SLP. Hope that ALL the Candidates(those who won, those who did not win but are qualified for key positions) not opportunistic individuals who do not know anything of the struggles endured on the ground.

I am looking forward to a Cabinet formation that St.Lucians will be pleased with. Persons such as Mr. Stanley Felix, Dr. Ubaldus Raymond, Mangal and Fregis must be seriously considered for key positions with special emphasis placed on Dr. Raymond. Please guys do not sideline those guys since they are needed in creating positive change in this country.

Spider now has Shargwair Poo Voir!
I guess everyone can now see that Spider did not have the constituency of Gros Islet at heart like he claimed to. Its 8 days since the elections and he does not have the audacity to at least thank the people who voted for him. Instead he is acting like the sore loser that he is challenging the results of a legal election instead of conceding defeat. What a shame. After the previous elections when he won by the largest margin and boasted about it for 5 years instead of working, I didn't hear is opponent crying fowl. Now he refuses to accept defeat.(Some people refuse to recognize defeat even if it was staring at them in the face!) This is selfish, unpatriotic and shameful! Like it or not jackass, Emma is now your district rep! hahaha

And people really thought that Stephenson King was a nice guy.
Now he is showing his true colors. After losing a general election so terribly, he is now threatening to challenge the results in court. What losers. This is an insult to the people of St Lucia. The people has spoken, so why don't those losers just accept defeat. Don't waste your time because the results will still be the same. Save your money for your retirement as you are all UN-electable! Talking about arrogance? Bunch of misfits.

The people have been crying out for years to the past government that they are suffering but they were like fools arguing with the then opposition about 4% growth! Who gives a rat's @$$ about 4 % growth when it is not being filtered down to the man on the street.
Remember you said that you would create history? Well here it is: Worst government in the history of St Lucia, King-Worst Prime Minister, Doddy-Worst Attorney General, Arsene James-Worst Education Minister,Estaphan-Worst Minister of Information,Rufus-Worst Foreign Minister, Poodle_Worst Minister of Communications & Works (that the present government had to change the name)etc.etc and the list goes on! This elections was a closely fought one with so many lessons to be learnt. In my humble opinion, Richard Frederick, Keith Mondesir, Allen Chastanet, Edmund Estaphane were the ones who caused the UWP to lose. The entire loss can be placed squarely on the back of Richard Frederick who was endorsed by Stephenson King. Everyone seem to think that Spider should not have lost his seat, but I blame Stephenson King for delaying the elections hence giving Emma reason to continually eat away at Spider's base. The failure of Stephenson King to have done away with Richard had disasterous consequences. Whats sad about the whole elections is that almost 50% of the people still have confidence in the UWP despite all the scandals and corruption. It clearly demonstrates that our Saint Lucian society has decended to the lowest in values and ethics and the moral decay is staggering. It is very apparent that a number of persons personally benefited from the freeness and largesse of the UWP while supporters of the SLP remained marginalised. It is quite understandable why Michael Flood would on the morning of 29 November, 2011 strut into work seemingly obvilious that a general elections had just taken place and the SLP won; which indicated that the statutory board that he chaired was automatically dissolved. Some people will cry, pain and be bitter for the next five years but for now BETTER DAYS ARE HERE WITH THE SAINT LUCIA LABOUR PARTY!!!!!

Stephenson King will NEVER NEVER NEVER grace the walls of the PM's office again in our country. He was given an opportunity and he squandered it. That's what happens when opportunity meets one unprepared. by the way I saw him on the news last evening well dressed in a tie; is he employed or that was a photo-op?
