its about time ... that liat has some real competition, and the upside to this is that folks living near vieux fort no longer have to travel all the way to castries to travel to other cbean islands and we all know the cost of taxi service from castries to v fort so for those going to acquire visas in barbados dont have to pay huge airline fees to do so... competition always has its perks ..trust me it all goes well for small hotels in st lucia too .. hopefully we will see quick signs as to the necessity of redjet coming to our shores.. hence the need for the redevelopment of hewannorra airport that too is something we needed yrs ago

YES IT IS GOOD COMPETITION IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY ESPECIALLY FOR LIAT BUT TELL ME HOW CAN A NEWLY INTRODUCED AIRLINE GET LANDING FEES WAIVERED AND ALSO THE NEWLY INTRODUCED $35US DEVELOPMENT CHARGE WAIVERED I MEAN WE HAVE TO CONSIDER THAT LIAT HAS BEEN HERE FOR 55 YRS AND HAS NOT GOTTEN ANYTHING BUH FIGHT DOWN FROM THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION THATS SAD

Let's hope this remains a "low budget" airline. I remember how
jet Blue's entrance into St.Lucia was touted as same but now this airline's fares far exceed AA and Delta, if u don't believe me check it out......

redjet is only travelling one day a week from and to uvf - bgi.

Please note it is going thru UVF

nowadays alot of low fare carriers tend to start off that way and then switch to higher airline tickets thats true.. i dont know if it s possible to waiver the 35usd or maybe some of it for those visitors to our shores spending less than 24hours i think that has been alluded too and according to our airline reg.. travellers not suppose to be paying departure tax less than 24 hrs in st lucia unlike barb and elsewhere...one down side to low fare carriers is there have been instances where they tend to fall short when it comes to maintenance and safety issues... historically speaking .. u notice cbean airlines already made mention of such a situation evolving ... airlines are still among the safest to travel anyway

You are very right about Jet Blu. The prices on that airline are exorbitant after that big bag they had when they first started. That is my fear for Redjet. I mean we don't even have to go as far as Jet Blu. Remember Caribbean Star? These airlines always start out with these promises but it it difficult if not impossible to sustain these fares. I welcome the initiative, however, it saddens me because I KNOW what will become of this

we st lucians tend to be so narcissistic at times .. i mean we dont want vigie airprt to close down just for the convenience of getting to the airport within 20 mins cause of its proximity to castries and gros islet .. where the bulk of the pop is ..but what about our fellow lucians in the south and east west coast they have to pay huge taxi prices plus be up hours earlier to get to vigie just to go check on visas and wkn vacations .. redjet is suited for them as the better comfortable airline based in the south .. we have to settle for liat in the north .. life sometimes really plays some funny games at times..i m happy that redjet can accommodate ppl in the south make use of it i tell them

It is a good thing for caribbean travellers but not at the expense of old faithful liat who has been with us for ages---i feel sad that liat may go out of business
