The Trayvon Martin incident almost didn't make it to the press. At this point, despite the many demonstrations and other forms of outcry, I doubt very much that George Zimmerman will be arrested. It will just go down as another of the many injustices against minorities in America.

The election of a black president did very little to change the reality for many black people in America. When it comes to the police it's even worse because you may not only have a racist person, but a racist person with some power, a badge, a gun and the benefit of the doubt.

It is improtant for minorities to impress upon their children that they are at a disadvantage from birth because of the color of their skin and that they need to use every (legal) opportunity to rise above that. Educate themselves, make responsible choices, make positive contributions. While these actions may not change their overall experiences, they may allow them to better exist in a world that is hell bent on telling them they should not exist,they do not belong and they are not enough and never will be.

I leave in Canada, and I am able to frequent any hotel or bar once I can afford the price. I wish I could say the same about my Country. We treat our own people worse than other races treat us.

A well written article. Personally, I have never felt racism nor do I want to.... Anonymous #2...I am surprized by your comments...could you elaborate or provide examples...
