i must conpliment the slp gov...they have delivered or kept to some of their promises.. which is usually succinctly conspicuous and expressed via all mediums available to the gov..as for uwp..they dont have such fortitude to do likewise when they were in power.
Anyway slp i am still awaiting one major promise in your manifesto..which is the slp gov promised to undertake ONE MAJOR PROJECT IN THEIR FIRST YR IN OFFICE.. we the ppl have yet to see or hear of anything remotely in that regard...WE THE PPL ARE STILL WAITING DR.K.ANTHONY we dont 4get ok.. u have 4 months to go to prove us wrong..or dont make promises u cannot keep if u do not deliver that MAJOR PROJECT .[a major project in my opinion starts from $30.million - $100.million ecd..]
As the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) celebrates a year of employment vulnerability it has been a dismal performance of implementing growth enhancing measures to counter excessive expenditure and tax reform.
When 80% of every dollar earned by the government of Saint Lucia is expense on salaries and wages, retirement benefits and interest payments on debt;--why is there time to celebrate, with mixed messages and political policies that lack growth potential?
Also, I find it insulting and disgraceful for government to be promoting low skill deficit busting jobs for three months a year just to make some money and be back in the same bind all over again, until “God knows when.”
This is not sustainable and growth enhancing!
This is a policy that leads to the establishment of a welfare state - which has chronic characteristics of insufficient earnings and dismal levels of productivity, that is further enhance by critical mismanagement of $1.46 million dollars towards STEP and NICE and whatever else is being propagated.
Already there are more takers in the system of big government; meaning a greater number of recipients and dependents than persons employed in the private sector, where the engine of growth exists.
So in other words SMILES, NICE, YEP, STEP, are merely convincing political tricks to force public interpretation that “DE PARTY” is giving us a little job, and we making a little change.
Translation, Socialism! This is absolutely political hoodwink and a gateway to economic slavery.
I say so because, it is simply impossible for the finance minister to generate returns from these “WELFARE” projects to outperform the costs he is incurring. They are not revenue generations to counter government excessive expenditure----and that’s a huge problem.
Where will the money come from to keep financing them every year with --NO FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT, MISERABLE LOCAL INVESTMENTS ---NO BUSINESS EXPANSION ---DECLINING EXPORTS – LOW FOREIGN RESERVES?
So, has the SLP arguments and the blue print to growth held up in a year of extensive borrowing, high inflation, no growth, increase deficit, more uncertainties and increase crime that stifles growth?
You decide!
And speaking of the crime situation, wouldn’t any serious leader have addressed the nation on the crime situation by now, or called a press briefing?
Can anyone trust the government on VAT, FOERIGN POLICY, FISCAL PRUDENCE, WAGE NEGOTIATIONS, or handling the CRIME SITUATION?
Where will the investor confidence come from?
Therefore the government current policy is on par in developing a “welfare state” that perpetuates poverty to achieve political greed and to reinstate colonial slavery.
Most of these programs being implemented by the SLP are not developmental in nature. These are rather dependency programs which the government must find money to fund. People should not be taught to be dependent on government.

Propoganda for labour.
Labour still isn’t working; instead they’re propagating indefensible positions!

most of what government is doing is just temporary solutions for problems which add to country's problem
With the implementation of VAT and other governmental mis-steps, are St. Lucians better off in 2012 under Kenny than under King in 2011?
I would have to say that St.Lucians were better off under King; but they didn't know it at the time.
Same shit different pile.
ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN YOU WERE 15 MONTHS AGO? DON'T BE ASHAMED TO SAY IT. I HAVE ENOUGH TISSUE TO WIPE YOUR TEARS OF REGRET....HO-HO-HO....O-O-O

It has been a year of mistrust and flip flops, the politics of fear and false cliché’s on the road to “Better Days.”
