I remember Mary Polius as a Meteorologist when i was growing up. " Partly cloudy with a few scattered showers'.I would repeat after her all the time. The one public figure i always admired.I remember quite vividly the way she carried herself with such poise and always thought there was something special about her. Now that i read her story i connect the dots. I'm posiitively sure she's much older than me ;however her life seems almost a mirror image of mine. I remember doing homework with a kerosene lamp and sometimes candlelight, carried bananas and a whole lot more.

Thanks Mary you're still an inspiration.

I met her once at an outdoors event organized by the students union at Cavehill. She was beautiful then and just as beautiful now. I was a chicken that's why she did not become my wife. Lol!!
Love you Mary then and still do now. Lamentably, you will never know who.
You are a remarkable person. Great life story. You sure can teach the young people something about resilience. Where you come from does not dictate how far you can go. Stay blessed and as down to earth as you are. Next time I'm in St. Lucia I will reveal myself and moan about what might have been.

Great life story, Mary. I remember Mary's mother from whom I used to buy yams (entwine)at home and she also gave me some to plant. She'd spoken about her famous daughter whom I already knew as the very pleasant Mary Polius while working as a civil servant. Mother did not know that I knew her ... so it was fun listening to her talk about her daughter, and about farming. A mother's love.
