A very wise article. My comment is not a Religious one. I fully agree with this articulate position you have taken. Next step will be for some people to banish laws against bestiality !!! What a sad state of affairs.

The writer clearly wants to do "GOD's will".

Other wise there is no democratic, legal, or political basis for her concerns.

Government is not about "culture" it is about protecting the rights of individuals. Only totalitarian regimes believe they have to 'preserve culture'.

Culture emerges out of the day to day interactions of ordinary people in their private and public lives.

In democratic societies we encourage that as much as possible because the alternative is the Taliban.

Brilliant and enlightening article. The anti Christian liberal elite who have used sexual wedge issues to gain power and undermine our families and society have a lot of explaining to do for the pain, deaths, economic degradation and societal regression they have caused while promising freeness disguised as freedom. As these vile liberals gain support for their control over society from marginal decadent groups our youth cannot get jobs, our society gets more and more dysfunctional.
The libs trot out all of their tired politically correct trash talk about 'religeous views' even as they stuff their liberal religion up our butts.
Thank God we have the only fearless politician in the Caribbean willing to take on the lies and repression of the parasitical liberal ruling class. At least someone is fighting for our children.

It is a good thing that democracy is not the same a "mob rule" or rule by the majority.

For cultures can be based on myths. Myths that are widely shared and practiced.

Democracy is rooted in the rule of law. Even laws that are introduced by "stealth".
The best law are the ones that facilitate human freedoms.

The idea that Caribbean sexual culture is so unique that it deserves protection is a myth.

Human beings of all sexual orientations can engage in dangerous sexual practices. The best the state can do is use effective Public Health policies to educate and change behaviour.
But states cannot regulate "love". If that is elite liberal thinking, then I am for it. Because the alternative will take us back to the "dark ages" of witch hunters.

Why and where have you been hiding Sarah? The people need your inputs! Don't waste a good mind.

Crawl back where you came from Sarah, with your religious craps.

Lady, this is 2013?

The likes of you, pretending to be all god fearing and righteous, makes me sick to my freaking stomach!

I like this article and I share the views 100%. Soon if we continue down the path the West wants us to go will will end up with a new race consisting of he,she and shits.

Ah Sarah sarah...na tiway sa. Sarah is an opportunist and thinks of no one else but herself. And to think we had this woman as minister for gender affairs? Wake up Sarah, this is the 2013. People are free to decide whatever they want to do with their lives. The international community is not trying to infringe on the sovereign right of Caribbean nations-they are just calling for people to be granted the freedom of choice. The freedom to be themselves, marry (even though it is somebody else' husband like a former minister did). I do not support homosexuality, but I also understand that I cannot judge anyone who chooses to live their life the way they please.
Lady spice where are you-Sarah sarah is back

It is the psychologically flawed person above who has been given so much by the Judeo Christian ethos which created our legal, economic, and social system who so wants to bring it down with vice and lack of personal discipline.
Rather than tackle the liberal lies and destruction they have brought on our people they prefer wallowing in their muck and attacking someone like Sarah who can make a difference.
This young generation is worst off than the previous one that was worst off than their grandparents , because of the self serving agenda of the liberals only interested in pandering to voting blocs while destroying our quality of life.
massive debt, broken families, no jobs, VAT are all the symptoms of the liberals control in our lives.
that ignorant person above attacking Sarah is just showing the vile nature of these people. What they can't control or bully they viciously attack.

I remember that as Minister Sarah set up the 1st shelter for battered women, the hiv mother to child prevention program, the best A & E dept in the Caribbean - that other ministers broke down.
The blogger above is so vicious that he/she is even willing to deny what was positive for our Lucians - even when our lives are saved by a positive woman.
so to advance their vice and white America sex agenda they attack their own women. These are now the people controlling our countries.
POOR HELEN!

Sarah....I particularly like your paragraph two,and indeed the entire article is very incisive. It is heartening to see you address the issue and the agenda that some people have as they try to remake the sensibilites of us Caribbean people as well as try to split us along sexual lines. But the ongoing attempt to divide us has long historical roots as the propagators strive for something that is unattainable. However we know the outcome of those things. Our attitudes towards the issue of homosexuality are to be made by ourselves and in any case laws do not change a person's outlook or mindset. We descendants of slaves must cherish our mindset without the laws regarding those issues.Listen Sarah there is everything right in doing God's will according as She speaks to us.Congratulations!!

Yes, destroy the infidel.

When I say without the laws that govern those issues,I mean that we do not need laws to fashion our mindset, and that our outlook regarding homosexuality are rooted in who we are as a people and within our afro caribbean heritage and that should not be affected by laws for or against the issue .In other words it is our inner selves that determine what laws we fashion regarding the issue and not some outsider's determinations.

Kudos to you Sarah, just not enough brave women like you around. You will be criticized but I applaud you for your courage. Someone have to stand up for the young and the poor. We have a Law in St.Lucia and it should remain as is. I never cared much for you as a Politician but this time I'm with you 100% GO GIRL.

One of the issues we have as a Caribbean society is that we have become so enslaved to the new liberal elite we cannot think through problems.
We have them United Nations moochers making a big money, doing 5 star hotels and US$100 meals while all the time pushing abortion, men loving up men, prostitution, making children comfortable with earlier and earlier sex.
Then we do not look and say "What has that achieved?" The answer is a broken society broken families no jobs because them people just control and mash up everything and the only ones who benefit is them.
Who suffers - the youth!
In socialist Europe and liberal America the youth have 20 to 60% unemployment under liberal regimes. The rich are getting richer. All the money they pumping into America and Europe going to the super rich

These people have had no answers for the 50 years they have run our societies from the federal govt or cuvik servants and all the far left academics teaching crap .
Where the beef? Where the good times gone? Where the opportunities?

Under a Christian ethic we used to have a baby girl becoming a child then a pre teen then a teenager then a young woman. Along the way certain decent steps were taken as she progressed into womanhood.
in this new paradigm all of this has changed as the liberals have thrust indecency into our society so that sex is a commodity and none of the discipline or self control of a structured society is maintained.
all of it is interconnected as personal discipline or self control in sex or work is thrown out the door. So you have 60% of black pregnancies ending in death of the child in NYC. Work ethic amongst our people is poor. Black on black crime is horrible. This is not because of racism but because we as a people have believed the left wing lies that freeness is freedom so they can get our votes come election time and continue to bleed our countries.
We have gone downhill believing the Freeness lies that abortion is ok, homosexual hooking up is a marriage
It is ok to sell your body .
look where all these lies are taking us as our society collapses.

Its a good thing we are free to believe our myths.

Most of us have only lived in liberal societies. So we don't know what live was like before liberalism. Perhaps we should start reading before we share our myths.

Show me the societies that self reliant fundamentalists Christians have built. And tell me if you want to live there.

Let's not stand in the way of human freedom.

Morality is something lacking in Saint Lucia so why critizise this man, who are we to stand in judgement on anyone when our own morals and boundaries are shit. This writer needs to look at home before condemning others.
