EVICTED!

This is a curse on the system. Where is the poverty reduction fund, the bel fund- Harold Dalson and social services and Emma Hippolyte.

The legal system in St.Lucia is cross thread! This execution order in - other lands of law and order - would not have happened.

Where is the victim legal representation -the lawyer/ former magistrate he hired in this case. Is the client to low key except to collect the hefty fee for lousy legal service? Why is he/she not present with the client- advising him?

What a shame legally and politically - in a country of "Simply Beautiful" and "Bread Freedom and Justice"

Simple donating money, food and clothing -without addressing the housing crisis and legal redress - will do nothing but continue the cycle of poverty.

This just breaks my heart :-(

Where is the justice? (Well, everyone knows there no justice in St Lucia, unless you have money and is named brand).

Shame, shame, shame on the justice system in St Lucia in general, and this gentleman's attorney in particular, for giving this gentleman and his three kids the round about - a 6 for a 9.

I detests all lawyers!!

People are awfully selfish and unfeeling in these times. What are we really fighting for? We are going to all die and leave the land right where it is. How could a relative do that to their own blood?

Life is impermanent in this physical state and so is possession. We wonder why hatred exists. Will these children ever forget what was done to their family?

This individual is not the only one going through that dilemma. There is also a father of five sitting by the square everyday and simply will not be given a job just because he has a history of mental illness. He lives in a zinc house with his children with no running water and no toilet and barely survives by begging. Who the hell cares? His humble shelter is often ransacked by some one or some people in the neighborhood who takes everything valuable that he has and they do this on a regular basis and he is helpless. Not even the police renders him assistance, just because they think he is mad. Yet we say we live in a Christian society. To take that matter to court he has to have a lawyer and where will he get money from to pay a lawyer?
The damn lawyers too are as crooked as they come! What a mess.

Notably, before someone receives help, their picture has to be splattered all over the TV. Do we really have to know every inch of a person's life before we reach out and help? Where is our compassion? Yet we sit an bemoan the plight of our brethren.

It's really sad what is going on here. I really wish someone will help these individuals to help themselves. At least give them a job so that they could provide for their families. After all, we are all human and no one's life is more precious than the other's. Reach out for once St Lucians and stop judging the less fortunate among us.

It is very sad what this family is going through. Collecting money on their behalf will not really solve that problem as there are others with the same problem and in even more dire situations. Is there anyone out there who is willing to enable that father to be more gainfully employed atop eeking out a meagre living by selling dals? You know what they say: "teach a man to fish so that he will have food for the rest of his days."

Don't just collect money for him, help him obtain the means to get what he needs. I'm pretty sure that can be done.

This is a heart wrenching story. What kind of society would do this to children? For Christ sake, the man has three minor kids. What legal system throws three minor children in the streets? Something is wrong in this land. Where are the government agencies we pay to look after the welfare of our children? Well! well! well! and well again. Shame on this country.

Karma is the 'Great Equalizer,' and time will tell. You just don't do this to people ;(

Such a moving account on this Father's Day. Regardless of the circumstances, this man should be applauded for being so committed to his kids. Many deadbeat dads would've ditched their responsibilities in a nanosecond.

Children are so resilient. They seemed completely oblivious to their dire straits; enough to smile for intrusive cameras. In such situations, they are so trusting of the adults and genuinely believe all will be well by morning. Bravo to this single dad! Many could only wish for such parental support.

Hope Yardie is not involved in collecting any money...just hope not.

The sad thing about it is that there are ppl in SL who could make this problem "go away" in a hurry however, they are busy buying out more retail outlets...God eyes are fully opened.

Let's not get too carried away. Whilst there is a place for philanthropy in business, entrepreneurs cannot entirely rid Saint Lucia of poverty.

Sometimes poverty is as a result of psyches, people's mindsets. The poor must shoulder some responsibility when it comes to the issue of contraception. No one is forcing you to have unprotected sex that results in children for whom you cannot provide. I empathize with this situation, but let's not distort reality.

I do believe that this situation is MORALLY WRONG. But, the LAW is not based on morality.

The brother, whom I sympathize with, has expressed that his lawyer failed him. If this is true, then the lawyer should be held liable for the pain that the family is experiencing now.

But, unlike what many people think, the law and the process of establishing justice must march. So what has happened to the brother is definitely not unlawful though it is morally wrong.

This is the FATHER's fault . . . he called this upon his children. If only he had taken more responsibility for his cause (attend court proceedings, paying various fees or at least arrange payment plan, etc.), his children would not be in the predicament that they are.

He, the father, told the public his side of the story to make the public sympathize with him but what he told was not the whole truth.

Don't get me wrong, the situation is a heart wrenching one (because of the children) but if it was only the father, I would have not supported any effort to help him. Full stop!

The reality is what it is...is there a point to sharing blame now...point remains they are homeless....this brought tears to my eyes..even tho is a small amount I'm going to give...every little bit adds up

You see, the point is only the children are the only victims (the father isn't). The father must take the blame for placing his children in this situation of homelessness. That is that! Full Stop!

Why are you blaming the father? he has been on the property for the past twenty five years long before the kids were here, did you read carefully you freaking moron. Reads DBS news on line, read HTS on line before you start making reckless comments you coward go tell it to his face for him to kick your ass.

Anonymous said...

The above, you are being really ridiculous! The stories on DBS and HTS are only HIS side. When you get the true story, then you will understand how moronic you really are. He CAUSED IT. HIS FAULT.
Further, being on the land for 23 years doesn't guarantee ownership (you a@@h@#$)! And that was what he was counting on even though he knew that was not the case.
