The 2013 Budget - “Same Old, Same Old”?

Well, well, well. I was thinking that I was the only one who saw really nothing new in all the hot air that was the last budget. It does not seem that the technicians know too much more than their fundamental purpose that of being absurdly verbose to bury the emptiness and nothingness. Off we go to another round of near invisible growth.

So they masked the absolute level of decline behind a veil of bad information. King tried that too. It failed!

Simple mathematics. If you are plus 20 ahead and you fall or decline registers negative 25, the real magnitude of the decline is 45!

Analogously, when we have had say 5 percent decline and show positive 5 percent growth were are just BACK to where we were before the negative five percent positive growth.

It is small comfort that we are no longer declining. But then what?

How to lie with statistics is what has been on display by the spin doctors of both major political parties.

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."

But for a long time, Saint Lucia has never ever produced any leader that inspires the entire nation -- not just the rank and file -- regarding any optimism or confidence in their policies or in their leadership.

If we Saint Lucians were fortunate enough ever to have someone as PM and someone as Minister of Finance, [these are two separate posts], who natively understood economics, business and management or combinations thereof, maybe, just maybe, we would have someone who would be more proactive and could realistically monitor and control the direction in which this nation's economy would be heading to.

Unfortunately, all we have had so far are people who read speeches and give budget recitals. Actors and square pegs in wrong holes.

For all we know, we may well have as well paid for these shows and matinees and with much better results, for all this ridiculous and comical play acting we have had thus far.

Kenny is a liberal/socialist. His only agenda is his self aggrandizement, power and wealth.
To get this he has taxed and borrowed to fulfil his liberal promises for votes. He has accumulated billions in debt to play santa claus to our gullible low information voter and party hacks. Ditto King and the same for Chastanet who never saw an expenditure he did not like.
As the liberal first world economies start to crash and burn from printing money and stifling liberal policies attacking our Christian foundation, things will get much worst in the next 24 months.
