The educational base of the current population does not support the level of sophistication necessary to implement your suggestion.

More than this, years of victimization and dependency on political crumbs thrown from the tables of the elected, be they dummies or not, fosters a continuation of confounded tribal politics.

Hail the genius of Vincentian country buck, His Holiness Saint John Compton to bequeath us, and saddle this country with this holy mess!

It's a shame that years after Compton's death you have so much hatred for the dead. You can't utter a word without showing how stuck you are in the 60's and 70's. Comon man the country has moved on and no longer see Compton as the "root" of all evil. We don't care because what we have seen after Compton has proven to be any better. Get a life!

@ 6:05 PM. if you worship the dead, then, tough?

I'm not pure African, nor backwardly tribal, like 98 percent of our Saint Lucian population.

And so, I don't engage in the backward, tribal, and the unenlightened behavior of social underdevelopment of and for retards, which is ancestor worship.

For all I care, you may well be a zombie! So, get a friggin real meaningful life!

Slither on your belly, to right under the little rock where you came from. Now, stay there, you idiot!

Those who refuse to embrace their past honestly are condemned to repeat it.

This is exactly the way; St. Lucia ought to go. The problem in this country is that the "so-called" educated ones with the degrees with a few exceptions tend to place themselves in an ivory tower and do not take up their responsibility of educating the less-educated in the society. The sit their "rears" in the public service in particular; collecting huge salaries; doing little to advance the country; and pandering to short-term life spans of politicians who by and large get into political office just to make money for themselves.

From my own practical experience; I have found numerous not-well-educated patois speaking people; reasoning and making much better judgements about many issues facing the country than many of those 'so-called degree holders".

If people understand issues; they can make sound decisions whether degree holders or not.

Look at the mess and significant (errors?) made by Kenny Anthony; for example; the sale of the Helenites Building in New-York; the Rochamel mess; and the GRENBERG mess.

To whom much is given, much should be required. The high office of the land should be managed by the individuals with vision and honor.>>> I am in agreement with your suggestion in the paragraph before the last. However, with a slight addition. I think in addition to a stipulated level of minimum education, Ministers should be appointed based on their sound judgment/ethics/integrity which should be demonstrated in their personal, social and professional beings. They should be assigned to Ministries that suit their area of "expertise" and passion to avoid square pegs being placed in round holes. >>>Saint Lucia should promote Local Government Reform which will lead to an increase in communities taking the leading role in their own development.>>> Local businesses should be paying "taxes/contributions" toward the development of their local communities. Community identity and pride should be promoted through people's participatory involvement in local research & analysis, visioning and local development strategizing exercises that encourage the participation of all who are willing. There are many funding agencies that would support efforts geared toward sustainable development. >>>A holistic approach should be taken to Family outreach and healing the hurting families in our communities -the foundation of our society. BTW, the Public Service needs a cleansing also.
