What a waste of young lives. To think that they were all promising, progressive young people magnifies the tragedy.

My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased.

Isn't that supposed to be "Monroe College" instead of "Monroe University"?

Multiple "injures"?

Why don't the police do regular road checks and get these unlicensed and uninsured drivers off the road and into jail.

That's just plain careless driving going on in St.Lucia.Please slow down and respect people lives. Please.

When will drivers be educated or instructed - that a vehicle is a potential "lethal weapon" (but a legal one), and is just as dangerous as guns, knives, cutlasses, etc.
A serious education programme on dangerous driving with a lethal weapon is badly needed.
I already know my comment is easier said than done.
Also, I hope the families of the deceased see to it that justice prevails on this event - for each of those lives lost - FOUR sentences!! ... not 15 years, but 15 years for EACH LIFE taken.
It is time for examples and EDUCATION to be laid down.

How do you stop this cycle? How do we get people to stop and listen? Some would hope that perhaps the circulation of the graphic images of the injured would grab the attention of the masses - calling them to understand how MORTAL we all are and perhaps even bring us to value our lives and the lives of those around us. But I have never been an optimist and I would not at all be surprised if news of more road fatalities were to reappear in my inbox tomorrow. When will our drivers stop and listen? Perhaps, maybe when it's THEIR mom, THEIR dad, THEIR brother, THEIR sister lying in the ditch - but wont it be too late then?

Has anyone noticed how so many more drivers wear their seat belts nowadays? That's because the police were seriously enforcing it at one time. It soon became a HABIT which stuck for most of us drivers. The only way to change behavior is to replace it with another behavior, and that's where the police come in. They must enforce the laws CONSISTENTLY and RELENTLESSLY! This same principle applies to parents and teachers. Most human beings will do almost anything once they feel they they can get away with it.

The laws should be tougher. To be driving without the proper training is already a mortal weapon, so it's time the government sends out a stern warning/message to all those who even think of driving illegally.

How many more will have to die before we act?

LuciaBro256@hotmail.com Did you received an email from someone who asked for your help about information regarding GABOO aka Gabriel Mercier? That was when you posted your comments about the show in Toronto with Dennis James etc, etc.
Then if you did, why didn't you reply out of courtesy? The request wasn't that difficult. All you had to do was reply and say, you can or you couldn't help. Silence is not always golden.

Very concerned and disapointed Expat.

A vehicle in the hand of a driver is a dangerious weapon, and should be treated as such.
