So Mondesir tried to evade customs duty on goods he bought for his own home. That kind of disrespect for the very laws the HONOURABLE Minister was sworn to uphold has me feeling disappointed.

Makes me wonder what else he is trying to sweep under the carpet in his own Ministry. In a country of Nobel Laureates, is this the best our country can produce for the nation's leadership?

I need to run this country myself.

This is an appaling situation and heads should roll as a result, Chastenet and Mondesir should at the very least resign. If a judge has found against the Governor General. to establish the truth the aforemention men, who had been duplicitious to say the least in the early days, had to tell the truth to the enquiry; how can they ever be trusted again. They are public servants and as such must be above reproach, or clear off.

Listen I don't see where Chastanet resigning comes into all of this.

Is resignation the only thing on St. Lucians' mind when a politician drops a fart in the house?

Resign for this! Resign for that! I've said it before this country is in dire need of genuine and quality leaders. You can see Chastanet tries to run a steady ship. Mondesir can resign because he lets his emotions cloud his judgment and doesn't inspire anyone to do the right thing.

Interesting how everyone wants the UWP Cabinet to resign but everyone forgets the issues with regard to the $1,000,000,000 borrowed by Dr. Anthony including the $160,000,000 for Rochamel.

As a first rate economist said in America over the past two days:

"In contrast, countries that borrowed heavily to finance domestic consumption in the days of easy money are now facing sharp economic contractions."

Yes in the days of EASY MONEY Dr. Anthony borrowed to his hearts's content and now the debt has come home to roost with the country paying over $76 million annually in INTEREST PAYMENTS alone.

Why did he not resign in 2001 when he realized he had screwed the country with the Rochamel incompetence.

Mondesir cannot be effective anymore and the PM should ask for his resignation. He has lost all credibility and cannot properly serve the people.

Anonymous said...

On the first agree with you. The last statement you are sure an idiot.

Nothing bars Mondesir from serving his people. As long as they want to vote for him who is going to stop that.

Kenny?

Anonymous said...

Then the people are more crooked than him.

The people are the same pool from which both parties draw their pick. Don't you expect your government to mirror the people?

I read again and again how some people always use the excuse that Kenny borrowed and borrowed. The question i want ask is where would Kenny gotten the money to build the schools, police and fire stations, the hospitals, prison, highways, stadiums, health centers etc, etc. Another thing, Kenny would not have to borrow so much if Compton, yes Compton that some people saw as their saviour, in his day, had done all these things, because in those days things was much easier than now. We also tend to only remember about Kenny borrowing which happened a longer time, although we can see what he did with most of the money. and we tend to forget or choose to forget, that this government has, and is still borrowing as much of even more than than Kenny, the difference is people do not see what they are doing with the money. Try to find out, and prove me wrong. Another point is, can anyone put a number on the amount of scandals we have had so far and it keep growing, with this uwp government so far? I have lost count.

My take on that is; a people get the government they deserve. If Kenny Anthony had seen it fitting as a constitutional lawyer turned politician, turned PM with a 16-1 mandate in 1997; changed the constitution to barr people like Mondesir, Rufus, Richard from ever gracing our carbinet and parliament, we would not be in the state that we are in right now ok. And anyways you know what? Judgement or no judgement, life will contnue as usual for Mondesir and his carbinet of ministers so what.

Compton neglected the south and west for decades.

Giving the south an airport and connecting it with a high way roads to Castries is neglecting? You were given an opportunity for industrial mobility that no other community in St Lucia was given. There are a number of other projects that I can easily throw in your face.

Kenny's been representing VF for more than 12 years, start naming the transformation that occured there.

It's also ok for Kenny to burrowing but you have a problem with this government receiving free money from Taiwan to develop the country.

Wha a shameless bunch of people you are.

Now we blaming Kenny, because he was the one who voted for Tucker, Frederick, Guy Joseph, As ta fan, As in James, King, Mondersir, Spida, Easy Kal etc, etc. We allowed the media, with Juke Bois, who is being paid to speak rubbish on the radio, R Wayne who was fired by Kenny and holds a grudge, Poleon who believe he is the smartest Lucian alive etc, etc clogg our thinking, we changed a working government to put in an incompetent, one specialised in scandals.

Hilda, do you consider the road fron Vieux to Castries a highway? You said Compton created it for us as if that is a something extra, that is the only road we have in the country conecting the south. Where would pepole travel if there was no road, this road was there before Compton time, all he did was to do some repairs to it. Please, please tell us what are the substantial development that is done by the Tiawaneses.

This is another scandal, i have lost count, can somebody put a number on the amount of scandals created by this government? I an waiting.

Compton would have taken Ionala Airport to the north if he could. It's because the south was always loyal to the SLP.

Anonymous said...

Agree. Tons of lazy party hacks trying to blame Compton for they own decision to remain backward. They kept on voting for SLP losers and yet after Compton made the generous offer of putting that Airport in the South, they still did not know how to make it work for their advantage.

Stay there and expect things is just going to happen without any effort or willingness from the people of VF. By the way why is Kenny so made about the new housing project. Is he afraid that nuff people from VF are going to be employed and new people will eventually come into the area to vote him out of office?

Listern, you can't tell lucians where or what part of the island they can live. Once the homes are complete I hope that tons of people from all over come to live out there to change the way Kenny want to keep VF people in the dark.

Anonymous said...

A PM should be the PM of the whole country, why the preference?

Anonymous said...

me, i have nothing to say again. once you say something all those uwps want to cover you.

Anonymous said...

No wonder the north is so crowded, like my good friend would say, toot too booshe'

You know it is true, Compton kept us backwards, poor people in St Lucia never had enough school places to attend both primary and secondary. Kenny put an end that. Compton did not make any generous offer to us, if he did for you, do not involve us in that. I think we St Lucians made a generous offer to Compton by making him PM of our country which he was not born of. He could have NEVER been PM of Barbados if he was not born there, so he must be thankful to us. You cannot call St Lucians lazy because we are the hardest workers you can find anywhere, we produced the most bananas in the Windwards, to have the island moving, to benefit Compton, get re elected each time. You know is is hard work to grow bananas in all these hills. Compton was employed by us and anything he did was from our tax payers money, so he was not making us any favous. Talking about that housing project in Vieux Fort, before we start boasting, lets wait and see if that project get started or completed. This government have a history of breaking ground on projects each time one of their scandals surface, to take away the focus. What happen to the Marigot housing project by Frederick? What happen to the breaking ground of an ready started mental hospital? What about the meat processing plan in VF? You must go to VF to see the changes there since Kenny got elected. The people of VF are not stupid, if Kenny did not represent them well they would not have re elected him. No housing project by uwp will not fool them. UWP have fooled us enough.

I remember when they dredging-up VF, it was during campaign season and they were planning to build something similar to point seraphine; Compton said that if Josie wins (SLP) the place will remain a pile of sand, well the only thing there today is the coastguard. There's still a pile of sand minus the beautiful beach that was once there, so sad.

Can a judge quash a decision of Cabinet because "no reasonable grounds have been shown upon which Cabinet could have arrived at the decision at which it arrived"? Did the learned Judge step outside of his judicial authority? These are the questions that are eating at me. Nobody should be surprisd if this ruling is quashed on appeal, because this ruling says that any decision by any Cabinet whether UWP, SLP, PPP, RIP that does not make sense can be quashed if it is challenged in a Court of law. If this is so then Kenny himself better beware if he ever gets back into power, becasue any man on the street can take his government to court for an "unreasonable decision". Cottle's decision says cabinets must always make rational decisions based on sound reasoning. That in itself is not a bad thing. But if we take the ruling at face value, it can mean gridlock, because virtually every cabinet decision can henceforth be challenged in a court-of-law. It also says Cabinets cannot make mistakes.

Now, nowhere in the ruling is there any indication whether the Bonne Terre property was included in the original cabinet conclusion of 1993-94. One suspects it was NOT and this is why Customs took action. Mondesir is at fault becasue he illegally moved items to a property that was not covered by the original cabinet conclusion. Did Cabinet acted illegally by back-dating its decision to cover Mondesir's illegality? Mr. Cottle ruling says nothing about this. WHY? THIS RULING MAKES NO SENSE. It does not say that Modesir or the Cabinet did anything wrong. It says what they did doesn't make sense. Which is why I find the ruling to be nonsensical.

All those lawsuits here and there are costing the taxpayers mooney that they don't have.

Not paying custom duties on his goods by Mondersir is also costing much needed revenue to St Lucia. We are already paying Mondersir a big salary as minister, he also has a hotel, so he can afford to pay the duties. Why is he cheating the government, which he is part of and promised us that he will help it move forward.

what a crook.

Saint Lucia, what has the country come to with all the scandals and so on. I'm tired and I havent even gotten a chance to vote for elections as yet. When will we have competent ministers of government who will do more to build up the country in one year than to break it down. They say everything to get your vote and in the end you community has nothing to show for all the votes that were given to them. A tax concession which should not have been allowed was given, and now I'm guessing that even more money is being spent than was lost initially. And who pays for it? the citizens of Saint Lucia. When the voters get rid of the UWP, they will go back to the SLP and will be singing the same song all over again about the borrowing of money and whatever else the ministers may be doing instead of serving the country in a way which will be beneficial to us all.
