Everything is shrowded in secrecy. Why didn't we hear about that MOU sooner? We need government actions and dealings to be done open manner so as to avoid any semblance of corruption.

Let the sunshine on these deals and transactions that are being done on our behalf. Sunshine is the best disinfectant for corruption.

This government is a big joke, to have people like Guy Joseph who do not know his head from elbow to parade on the media to be their spoke man on anything. What has we come to in St Lucia? And we have Chastanet following him. Chastanet show us your friends and we tell you who you are. As far as i am concerned Guy Joseph is not qualified to be a minister in any country.

I agree with you.

Not only, I understood, that Guy Joseph was a truck driver (or still is), but listening to this man via the media is a big, big, big joke. The man is butchering the "Queen's Language" - bad grammer, subject/verb agreement, cannot pronounced; and the list goes on and on - and yes, this is the UWP's mouthpiece.

A total circus (made for Broadway, even) and lack of respect for St. Lucians.

But then that is a reflection of the general population.

By the way: Yesterday, I overheard a young man of about 27 boasted how he has 6 kids with 6 different women. He proceeded to tell his friends, all in agreement with him, that he would like his sons to follow in his footstep.

I turned to him, introduced my self and asked politely; "Do you think you are setting a good, moral example for these kids. What's about family values, respect for self and others".

He looked at me as if I had ten horns. He could not understand what I was telling him. Yes, a "proud" father who would like his sons to have mutiple kids with mutiple women...

Extremely sad...!!

really! really!! there is nothing immoral about having children.I say the guy who has six children is doing a very fine job indeed. We need more such fathers and mothers around who want large families.
Time to throw the western version of what is moral and immoral out the window.

Mr Editor,
Although it is hardly wise to comment on a matter that i have very little information except what i read in the papers, however the issue now being discussed by us St.Lucians regarding the apparent impending sale of a valuable natural resource:the Point Seraphine complex, can I make a couple of suggestions?
if indeed it is necessary to sell the property, might it not be a wiser idea to attempt to follow th example that the regional governments set with LIAT?Might it not be a better idea to use a similar approach, first with the regional governments and if this does not work, then surely a group of WHOLLY REGIONAL HOMEGROWN BUSINESSMEN can for an association and buy the thing.I believe this direction would certainly help to strengthen CSME if indeed there is any fire left in that direction.
While on the subject it will be well worth observing the economic and geopolitical shifts occuring globally and use this in planning any governmental initiatives.
After all deals are made on what IS TO OCCUR and NOT on what necessarily happens now. That is a major factor which helps determine who gets and remain rich and who becomes poor, whether it is nation or individual.
Hope that my suggestion helps in this ongoing discussion.

If it's just the buildings and it does not house any government offices, then I say sell it but if the sale affects the habour then it's something totally different.

Again a People get the Government they deserve. Why are we making noise when we placed them in office? the likes of Guy Joseph Sucks really. Could you imagine a country electing a bus driver, with not even a secondary school ecucation in this turbulent economic, social, spiritual, and educational times to represent us? My word!!! and the UWI statistics indicate that St Lucia has the highest level of intellectuals in the OECS? what does that say about us? We are a sorry sorry set of people. Lets pray for our sanity.

We're starting to have a brain drain because the highly educated/skilled ones leave our shores to look for better opportunities.
I think we are what Ireland was back then, so many left but Shamrock was always in their hearts, so is Fair Helen to us,
our Shamrock.
