The station responsible for sending their employees on such assignments should be held accountable. They are responsible for protecting their workers and one way that can be done is for the public to be able to identify those workers.

You know a rather serious precedent is being set in St.Lucia by the public.
A news reporter has a democratic right to cover what she considers a news worthy event. If we assault people of the media and if we are to be told by some obviously hardpressed policeman that she needs permission for covering an event, well the consequence is obvious. We would need a voucher or some certified permission to cover every event. No ,not so.However the actions of SOME rather vocal persons of the jetsam and flotsam in St.Lucia shows that there is a large degree of self hate among, at least, some, St.Lucians and I dare say that this St.Lucian self hate and self contradiction needs some dealing with.there is obvious need to have respect for our DISABLED and our women, the same ones who make love with you ,carry your babies, take your crap and your violence while you try to get away with it.
I would hope that each of us take time out to examine our own consciences regarding ourselves and each other.
NOVITA EMMANUEL AND TCT ARE TRUE ST.LUCIAN HEROES.

No doubt thesepeople will claim to be Christan as so many do, but when it comes to charity suddenly they become viscious thugs. I am appalled at the content of this article and am so sorry that these nasty people verbally abused the reported, what did they think she was, a tourist taking holiday pics. I disagree with the first comment, why give the station the responsibility its the behavour of the public that needs to be chaellnged. The man who was so disgraceful as to park in a disabled bay is a thug with no regard for anyone let alone the more vunerable in this society, shame on you may all your houses be plagued by locusts.
Shouldn't that officer be dismissed, was he too tired to do the paper work, thats part of the problem even the police don't care unless it effects them. Reporters are so important to us, we need them to keep us informed so please give them respect.

How did we become such a nation that is mired in ignorance from the leadership to the common man? Heaven help us.

In St. Lucia it no longer matters whether or not we are right or wrong, obay the law or not. It is simply a matter of whether or not we can get away with it. We are still controlled by our slavery mentality where we were always against the status quo and saw disobedience as a good thing against the estate owner.

Now that we are the masters of our own destiny we want freedom and authority but no responsibility. We want to leave the estate and go plant our gardens in the bush and live by our own rules except that we now want to do it within the urban setting of a modern society.
Combine that with the mendicancy of liberal policies and all hell breaks loose.

Whether politician or "man in the street" every man or woman in St. Lucia is now king and we are paying the price for this utterly destructive disregard for authority or even the fundamental rules by which we ought to live our lives.

Long established rules no longer apply in our lives. In our moral, social ,political spheres we do as we please and it is no more apparent than in the political sphere where we not only have incompetents but also their followers who ignore the incompetence of their leaders.

There is nothing in the horizon as represented by the tale told above that indicates that we will even get out of the problems we have as a country because we refuse to recognize our issues that hold us back.

Which justifies flogging.

there needs to be some legislation with regards to footage of persons injured or dead as in the case of the easter accident at least for the families sake. that does not give the public and de retarded police officer the right to treat the journalist that way. What a sad sad time in Lucia!

Perhaps, if the reporter identified the police officer in question, it might help to clean up the conduct of the police force.

How can identifying the police officer help to clean up the police force ?

That is like placing a bandaid on a 18 inch wound that requires 50+ stitches.

public condemnation

The point is a reporter just needs to identify him/herself to avoid such altercations.

The guy who parked in the space reserved for disabled persons and gave trouble after that had all the rights to do so.
He was a mentally disabled.

Exactely Beach Bum !

Unfortunately he is also mentally disabled and a nasty piece of work and we are training too many of them in our society today.

Many yers ago when we were more "conservative" the characters like that were few and far between -because we were a more disciplined society. In our new liberal culture we nuture this kind of degenerate to do as he pleases.

The video shots (or picture) taken in public area for the purpose of commercial use must be associated to consent form and disclosure agreement. This reporter should be aware of this. What happen is a rude reminder that invading privacy of people under a so call freedom of expression is a violation of our privacy and right to privacy. Not excusing the violent action of the some fifty years old person, the response to this violation should teach a lesson. Do not point a camera at people if they say no!.

Taking pictures in a public place is not an invasion of privacy.
