Thank God finally...so when will the staff and patients be welcomed in this building?
And was there any mention of the Chinese contribution?

Anonymous said...

Well done Taiwan. You guys took a shell from the Chinese and made it into a hospital. Thank you again.

Anonymous said...

So what ? How would you build a hospital without first building a shell? We must also stop being bias, the hospital was not a shell when the tiawanese got it, it was about 85% completed. We are still thankful to the Tiawanese.

Boy every day it looks as if King is looking better and better. What's up mamaye Labour??? Look like this thing is running away from us.

Anonymous said...

Tell us in what ways is king looking better?

Anonymous said...

I hope we can get some of these mad men off the streets now and put them in there.

Anonymous said...

I think some of you should go and check in.

Anonymous said...

Firstly, we can start by admitting most of the politicians and many lawyers as residents of this facility to reprogram their corrupt minds with honesty and a sense of justice.

Why cant we St lucians be more serious about issues instead of writing crap on this board. Mental illness is an disease and it could happen to any one of us, so stop joking about who should go to the hospital. mentally ill people do no buy the sickness. We never know when we will get ill. Stop worrying about kenny the man could take care of himself, he do not need this hospital, the man could check himself into any hospital of his choice around the world. He started the hospital for the poor people of St Lucia. Check about yourself or your poor familly and the bill that you all will not be able to pay if you fall sick and have to go to hospital. You all are to obsess with kenny, he will be back in two years to continue developing St Lucia, where he left off. Everything is Kenny, kenny, Kenny...........

You can huff, you can puff, you can do whatever you want, Kenny eh coming back in there.

Where are your slate of candidates? Where is your leader? Where is your money to fight the elections? Where are the fresh faces in your party?

Hey it not looking good for SLP.

Boy the UWPs gearing up for election! All they talking about now is "things looking up." Well its good to see they're finally finishing projects that should have been completed back in 2007 and hopefully start working on the backlog of 2008 and 2009's work before 2010 comes and they have to do that too. I guess it would be a great time for them to call elections before they have to introduce VAT in 2010, to comply with the IMF. Enough of the political rabble... have some of you party hacks no shame? You think we've forgotten the whole debacle of the past 3 years, including the plan to shelve the General Hospital and have one small 40 room mental health ward? Remember all that party hacks? Remember the whole uproar and the amount of noise that had to be made before some SHAME set in and the government made the forced 180 turn-around? Its really, REALLY insulting for you to come with these cheap antics after all that has occured the past 3 years. Open the hospital and stop playing politics with EVERYTHING, especially things you should already feel shame over. And please don't play more politics with St. Jude's and the General Hospital that we EXPECT to be completed. Next up, please let us not wait for another eternity for the hospital (sorry, Mental Wellness Centre - everything is rebranded these days, Heritage Tourism is now Village Tourism, etc) to be actually commissioned and so that there can be better quality care for people who suffer from mental illness, and better working conditions for care providers.

All of that will be water under the bridge. What matters is what they do moving forward. This is the only thing that counts going into an election. Capish? Capish!

Anonymous said...

So what you saying is we the people of St lucia will forget about the past three years, and re elect the uwp based on two years. I do not think so, anyway what can the uwp do that will be so great in two years, that they will deserve re election?

Anonymous said...

The person who spoke about slate of candidates is justing joking because they know full well SLP has more than one candidate to run for each district. I do not believe that person is in St Lucia and that person is following anything political in St lucia because the SLP usually have run off to choose candidates. Talking about leader . Who is the uwp leader? Let us say king is the leader, who else in the party is worth any grain of salt, that could lead the party to victory? You might jump and say chastanet, but tell me where he will run? Do you expect King to be the leader to win any election in St Lucia any time soon?

BS

SLP has no candidates in DN, DS, Ans, GI, Cas C, Cas E, MN, MS, Cas N. You want me to continue. After 3years you would think the people who are constantly calling for new elections would be ready. What was the emergency meeting about on Monday? Why is it that everyone who left the meeting looked grim face. Big moutain to climb? I am sure.

Anonymous said...

Well, well, well, there is something called political timing. The SLP knew the uwp was not ready so they called election after 4 years, did you remember that? If SLP has no candidates, why can't King call an election now. So you are also saying the SLP will not get any candidates in the next two years, when election is due? Well uwp will win the electin by default, or so they wish! At lease SLP is holding meets but tell me when last uwp held a successful meeting. Any time uwp hold a gathering in end up in confusion. For a government in office the uwp is more disorganised than the opposition, if you are honest you will agree with me.

ST LUCIA: Venezuelans arrested in drug bust
Posted by admin on 11/12/09 • Categorized as Crime/Police, St. Lucia

CASTRIES, St Lucia, CMC – Local authorities on Wednesday expressed a desire for closer crime fighting collaboration with Caracas after police intercepted two Venezuelan vessels engaged in the illegal drugs trade.

“We need to get together with the Venezuelan authorities so they can control their end of this exchange as we all have a responsibility to secure each other’s borders and to ensure that one does not create undue pressure on the other,” Police Commissioner Ausbert Regis said.

“So we are reemphasising the need for Venezuelan authorities to do what they can to stop the frequent flow of drugs from their shores to ours,” he said, adding that 15 Venezuelans had been arrested over the weekend.

Two of those arrested had abandoned the vessel when they saw the Marine Police and were captured on the nearby Maria Island.

In one incident, Regis said that the police were forced to shoot at a vessel suspected of smuggling drugs so as to disable the engine.

He said that the incident on the island’s south east coast was followed a few hours later with the police taking action to stop another illegal drug activity on the seas.

“We are not saying that we intercepted two vessels at the same time, the inceptions were done hours apart, which means that this involved two separate crafts on two separate missions. We are still trying to determine whom the drugs were intended for (and) that is the focus of our investigation,” the top cop said.

"Police say they recovered more than 40 kilos of cocaine" - *Photo credit: www.google.com
on the Venezuelan boats and a huge quantity of fuel.

A third vessel named “God Loves Me” with two locals on board was also intercepted during the police operation but was later released.

The police chief said that the disruption of the drug trade increases pressure on drug traffickers and raises the likelihood of drug wars as gangs become more desperate.

Did anybody hear that story or is it false cuz I can't find it in the local news

The contributor before the last should stop adding hog wash to this board. Get a life. No one really knows that you a live. Not even the SLP which you support.

Anonymous said...

You right the uwp government do not know if any St Lucians are alive, much less you. They all have pocketed the million dollars from the Tiawanese.

I feel sorry for St. Lucia

both UWPs and SLP
those who support the parties blindly are the ones aiding the crap that passes for government.

I was a member of the SLP in the 1997 elections, when Kenny fired the Senators I indicated to my countituency group that they should make a statement condeming the prime minister as we had just been elected on a ticket of transparency & accountability. I felt it was and should be the duty of the supporters of the government to criticize them and bring them in line when they are going off course.
No people felt that he was PM and it was his right. We continue to behave as though the politicians are our bosses when it should be the other way around as we are the bosses.

I left the Labour party on the issue of the firing of the senators.Had the party members taken a stand things like Rochamel and NCA and others could have been avoided. We are the ones who tolerate these things just because we think we are in for some party handouts instead of strenthening the party of our choice.Selfishness has caused that
the dog eat dog mentality prevails.

The UWP is no better and may be worse.
The UWP Government has swept the Richard Frederick case under the carpet, frustrated the efforts of Then Customs controller Terrance Leonard. This case should have been allowed to go to court which would have given both Richard Frederick and Leonard to prove their case.
the Attorney General is a disgrace and this stinks. The Mondesir Tuxedo another issue. Iam of the firm view that Politicians who are the ones who pass laws should be treated very harsh when they break the laws.
yet we wonder why there is a break down in law an order and people have lost confidence in the system.People get away scothc free.

The UWP has spent over a million dollars to tell us nothing new.
giving some lawyers our money

If the UWP felt it has a case then take the persons responsible to court. Why waste money to tell us the same thing we already knew. the people dealt with Kenny and his party at the elections for it.

they have just taken our money to make a political point against the SLP and we cannot see that.
I want them to jail somebody or recover moneys, that is the only way the money spent can be justified.

Please don't feel sorry or cry for Saint Lucia, She'll be alright.

I heard King addressing the opening of mental hospital, the man talking as if that was his project, talking about he is bring a new concept in mental health to St Lucia. No mention was made of the SLP or China, what a shame. That big hospital, they only make it into 80 beds, when we have more than double that number of mentally ill people in St Lucia and they make the other section into something else. That was not the plans of the SLP. The mental hospital was to be uses exclusively for mental patients and a new general hospital was to be built. I take that to mean that the new general hospital will not be built by this government. That is why in two years Kenny will continue where he left off in developing St Lucia. We will get our new general hospital, Forensic Lab, new culteral center etc, etc.

Anonymous said...

The uwp are a bunch of JOKERS to see them walking around in the mental hospital smiling as if people do not know, they are not the ones who planned and have this project come into scheme. All they have planned in three years are scandals and more scandals. The people are not stupid.

Anonymous said...

This is good for our country so can we please take the politics out of it.

Anonymous said...

Who playing politics? We are not playing any politics, we are just expressing our opinions, we all know the hospital is good for St Lucia, that is why the SLP saw it fit to build it. We have a government who is playing politics with everything in St Lucia, not us, they open the hospital boasting about creating new mental concept, as if the hospital was their concept, they never mention the SLP or Chinese. They opened the Gros Islet highway they never mentioned the SLP, they failed in water privatisation they blame the SLP, they never discuss issues affecting the country in the house of assembly, all they do is to try to discredit the opposition, instead they work they spend their energies and the country resources in a useless inquiry, to find out what we all already know. just to discredit the SLP. So who is playing politics?

Anonymous said...

You are.

Anonymous said...

I know, people like you an stay overseas and just make stupid one or two lines comments on this board, without discussing the facts. All you all know if flambeau, flambeau, flambeau, it does not matter how flambeau keep the country backwards. I do not care about any party, i just support the better one, right now the SLP is head and shoulders above the uwp.

Anonymous said...

You are brainwashed and need to go to that mental hospital for treatment.

Anonymous said...

The only people who is trying to brainwash us St lucians are the uwp government, but their bluff will not work this time, in the next two years they will be OUT. Stop asking for others to go to mental hospital, nobody know when thy will get sick, because mental illness is a disease. People with mental illness did not buy it. You never know if you will be ill one day.

Anonymous said...

The people have put the SLP in the corner and they're grounded for at least 2 terms because they've been really really naughty.

Anonymous said...

SLP is in a corner by the people, for being naughty, but it is a pity the alternative is WORSE than them, so the people will be very happy to return the SLP in office, because we were much better with the SLP.

If the WHO-AIMS has been completed on the status of mental health services in St Lucia...what might the gap be like in continuing to improve mental health services. Will there be monitoring and evaluation of programs over a time line ? How will taxpayers know that they are getting value for money in mental health in St Lucia ? What is the variety of manpower and skills mix in mental health in St Lucia ?
