The rise in gas prices is global and is beyond our control. Lucians like to cry about having things the easy way. Back then when gov't subsidize the cost of fuel, you cried out for the pass-through mechanism at the time when oil prices were on a decline. We got what we wanted but were warned that the prices would follow the markets and not remain low in the case of an increase in the price on the market. For the government to come back and subsidize this cost when the prices are extremely volatile would put further restrain on our financial resources.

Here are a few tips for now:
- consider carpooling with friends/neighbors/co workers...nothing is wrong if we are going to work or party riding with someone else.

- plan your trips/errands wisely

- cook in bulk so at least you have food to last a couple of days compared to cooking everyday.

that's all for now.

I agree with you whole-heartedly, above, but in St Lucia NO ONE will consider car-pooling, as this will diminished their perceived STATUS in life.

In St Lucia, we do things "for others to see" what we have, meanwhile, we are unable to put a gallon of gas in those expensive cars that we drive or have to place or garage to secure those cars. Very bright we are!!

You think the US gov't would subsidize for people to live their expensive life style? so why should poor St. Lucia that don't have any money do that?

The is every expectation that if you are dumb and uneducated and even less educated, yet you can get a big salary for doing nothing at the tax-payers' expense, why does the taxpayer have to live a life of hardship while you are enjoying life. Dat not fair!!

who cried for the pas-through? Bus drivers and phillip J pierre. I will be posting the video on you tube so stay tune. Beside i think stlucia is just a tad to close to martinique. LIke an effing free ness and half a them dont pay their taxes or their bills at vh. This place is invested with raccoons. Although i may be insulting raccoons comparing them with lucian brains.

I can't believe that the term raccoon would be used in a debate on the choke hold being placed on the economy by the the constant rise in fuel prices. Yes, we don't produce oil but shouldn't the govt take the lead and institute cost cutting measure to balance the budget, rather than depending on fuel for their main revenue source.
Where are the policies to encourage growth in the economy. Over to you raccoon.

You talking about the government taking the lead to balance the budget but it seems you don't get it that these people actually want the gov't to expand it's budget by paying a little for them driving all over the place instead of car pulling etc.

A choke hold is place on our economy when we have socialistic minded idiots like you living in this country. We have to learn to adapt and stop crying like mutts. The world is not a free ride. I actually took my raccoon statement back because i felt i was insulting raccoons. Just cant find something dumb to compare stlucians too.

Yes, socialist do adapt, thats why the world over they are implimenting capitalist policies but can you tell me what policies have this admin implimented to grow this economy. over to you Raccoon.

A socialist is someone who believes in Justice and Fairness for all not just the few who are usually rich anyway. How can you insult socialist principles unless you only think of your self and are greedy and selfish; you have that 'don't care about anyone else' attitude. Capitalism is when things are done for the 'have's' and sod the have 'nots', shame on you all that believe capitalism is a healthy situation for this country, its not working now, and it won't work for the future. Greed greed greed!!!
