To the Independent eye. I agree with points 2,4,5,6 and can live with point 8. I can live with point 8. As it relates to point 1.people should be able to run in what ever capacity they want. The constitution does not recognize political political party.Independents should have the guts to run as such and run their campaigns differently from the partisans. Concerning point 3, the Prime Minister should be allowed to appoint and fire his cabinet of ministers. You need persons loyal to your cause to implement your policy as to the direction you want to take the country. With point 7 the senate need to be an elected body and not appointed. It is a legislative body.I also believe that the deputy Prime minister should also be elected. The changes you alluded to should be forwarded to those conducting the constitutional reforms exercise

How will you ever get this implemented in a yardfowl political system and where people are too uneducated and illiterate to think beyond getting crumbs from a largely dishonest population.

Most St. Lucians have the intellectual and reasoning power of Jooke Bwa, Tim Polayun, and dumb bell Carasco. Try getting such numbskulls to run a congressional type political system, which is essentially what you are advocating here.

There are 3 parties in St Lucia. We have the SLP, UWP and LPM. Make your pick and stop day dreaming.

(It helps to supply a name for feedback purposes, even if it is not your real name.)

Anyways. @Anonymous #4. Every reality begins with a dream so you can be sure as Martin Luther King, I will keep on dreaming.

@ Anonymous #2. Your contribution puts into play a feature of divergent collectivism I refer to as internal opposition. Your opposition to point 1 is not uncommon. Whenever it is advanced it gets quite a flak. Persons, especially party loyalists, are quick to knock down the idea (and I am not here suggesting that you are). In my next article I will be arguing point #1.

Do you remember Kenny Anthony's justification for firing the three senators? In the implementation of policy there must be a SURE safegaurd for protecting the interest of THE PEOPLE. That is the aim of divergent collectivism.

@ Anonymous #3. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one footstep.

Almost everyday the semi-literates are bombarded by other semi-literates as ministers of government, and by dumb-ass radio and TV talk-show hosts. What do they mostly talk about? Absolute crap!

These dumb-ass media people keep on dumbing down the already dumb ass population every chance they are on radio and television. Do you up there believe that they have the barest level of intelligence to understand what you are saying, far less educate other people regarding such alternatives?

St. Lucians are very far away from the point of refusing to stretch their begging hands and eyes for rum and chicken in exchange for a vote at election time. Anything more mentally demanding than this does not get noticed or is not paid any attention. First of all this what you have written here will not reach them because it has to be translated in creole. And we know that this is not roro therefore it will not be translated. That is not the Juke Bwaah and Tim Poleyyun dumbing down stuff. Dream on!

You wrote back to me last week (mine was the only comment). Well done with this article, the only point I feel needs further debate is point 8, otherwise the rest make absolute sense and to me more democratic than anything that has been proposed before. It is worrying that some of the comments here appear to be made out of fear. Why not an independant candidate as long as you make clear what you stand for, either on a single issue or many. I feel that you are an honourable man who has the courage to be a lone voice, here that is something to be jealous of and discouraged but shouldn't be so. I will encourage people I know in that constituency to vote for you, at least you deserve that opportunity. Does an independant publish a manifessto?
