You mean, we have produced two Noble Laureates, we cannot find a born, breed and raised St Lucian to head that post?

Where is the pride? Where are the motivation for the kids to aspire to, when, day after day, foreigners or neutralized St Lucians are getting the cream of the crop jobs?

Congratulations to Karolin, Jade Mountain & Anse Chastanet have established a fabulous reputation for St Lucia throughout the world. May you have every success!

I think she's OK.

Congrats Karoline! It is my hope also that St. Lucians will take a page from patriotic Americans who give Americans first priority over other nationals. The Caribbean is an exotic touristic destination, as such, we need to market our tourism product with exotic faces if not now but soon.

The lady obviously has the experience, and I think she will do St.Lucia well but I think that it is time that exotic St.Lucian faces and personalities be provided with the training and exposure to serve in such elite capacities. Berthia Parle did an excellent job in her position as SLHTA, and I think another exotic face can now be consistently marketed to fill positions of the SLHTA.

I say let the lady serve but also ensure that a qualified St.Lucian person shadow her in that role as well.

It is not unusual that people who work in this sector should hold this post. If there are not nationals with the broad range of experience and exposure to the international market, why must we try to 'shoe in' a national?

Nice pic! Pinnacle success against a pinnacle itself. Icons!

I agree with the first comment, there are too many non nationals taking posts that should be given to St. Lucians, if you don't have people with the expertise then train people to do the job. There are a range of models that can be used and shadowing is one of them; If there is a non national in post give them a temporary contract then the local person can learn and be mentored by them, Eventually the 'Lucian' would be able to 'do' the job, the other post holder can then be dispensed with. The other issue is that in most cases St Lucians are paid way below what a non national gets, Digicel was a prime example of this, I think this is morally and ethically wrong and the government should change this trend. Bye the way I am a non national so have no axe to grind but believe in Fairness Justice and Equality of opportunity.

She is Lucian, she's been living here for more than 25 years and that's where her heart is.
