at first my confidence was on the verge of being restored but has completely gone back down to the drain as i believe the case of the "prominent" business man would be swept under rug. if confidence is to be restored it must be shown that absolutely no one is above the law. Logic would lead us to believe that the guys like that "prominent" business man also serves as the leaders of this underground economy that is running rampant. if we fail to bring down the heads, all we would see is an on-going cycle of the big dons recruiting lil boys to do the dirty works.

If one questions my logic...look across at Jamaica as they have had a significant reduction in the crime rate since the extradition of the Don Dudus Coke.

Stlucia is just not short of IDIOTS. unlike those small fisheses out police has to be very careful as to how they gather and put together evidence when it comes to those prominent people. Unlike the small fishes the links are a lot more complex and investigators have to be cautious because one mis step can throw the case to kingdom come. hence the reason why it took investigators years before they brought down standford and madoff. So dont compound the image of stlucians as being the dumbest people in the western hemisphere please...

Operation Confidence is more like "Operation Exterminate Them." All that talk about the Police trying restore law and order in Saint Lucia is hogwash, for how could the Police hope to restore order when they have absolute power over this nation and are definitely not accountable for their actions. Police are immune to the law here...They kill whom they choose and let live whom their bullets miss. Nobody is saying that they do not have a duty to protect the citizens of this country, but when they become Jury Judge and Executioners that is a real reason for concern.

Now there are some barbarians in Society of the reptilian ilk who will agree with the idea of Police shooting down so called suspects in the streets, but that attitude or strategy is far removed from civilized society. Do we still have the audacity to call ourselves civilized with all this carnage going on in the name of law and order? How do we sleep throughout this madness? It is as if the Police only aim is to do away with a whole generation. Is that what we really want? Will that make us safer?

There strategy of gunning down young men whom they classify as criminals in the street speaks volumes of the incompetence of the Force in dealing with crime. Guys with balaclavas raiding homes or shooting people in cars with the excuse that they were armed, threatening others and waving around a death list is ridiculous. It shows the lack of responsibility which all comes back to a lack of accountability on the part of the Police. Why indeed would you, knowing that you are doing the right thing, shoot someone because they are criminals, but still hide behind a mask to do it? That is pure evil and downright cowardice. Where indeed is the confidence?

Trevor Constantine keep spewing the garbage that he is paid to release through the broadcast and print media. Is he serious about asking the citizens to come forward with information? He wants to talk about criminals, well let me say this: The citizens of St Lucia are being held hostage by two caliber of criminals...The Death Squad arm of the Police Force and the street criminals. To make matters worse, the law is too double sided. It is as if it has been written for a select few. Let Trevor Constantine tell this nation about the prominent businessman who got caught with his pants down with the bales of marijuana. Oh, is there silence? Of course that was kept a hush hush.."A prominent businessman" without a name. I guess he was just a ghost!

Now somebody said that the Police have to come good when accusing "prominent" business people. But how careful must they be when they find the drugs at the person's location? That is B S. if there is evidence, then lay down the law and punish the bastards just as they would any other citizen. Or is there a special code in the Constitution that makes it impossible to nail the"prominent" business persons in Saint Lucia? It is so sad that this Constitution makes it all right for the Police to kill people and blame it on their inability to apprehend them yet made no provision to punish the big shots.

The citizens of this country are being governed by fear, but only those in the lower echelons of society are enveloped in that fear. The message is,"If we the Police find you culpable or even have an inkling you are breaking the law, then we will out your lights. Nothing will happen to us. We will continue to live to kill others and you will die for your sins."
A nation governed by fear never feel comfortable with Police who shoot first and ask questions later. A nation where the law always condones the crimes of the haves and punishes the have-nots could never be bereft of crime!

What confidence...Come again Constantine. Edit that speech!
If the Police want to prevent crime tell them to stop committing crime themselves. Example is better than precept. Fight Crime within the confines of the law. Then perhaps the Police can build confidence on that! Serve and Protect..not, Kill to Protect.

I am in total agreement with anonymous #1. My confidence in the RSLPF was beginning to be restored when they comitted that callous blunder with the "prominent business person". the message the police has sent to us Saint Lucians is that prominent persons ARE INDEED ABOVE THE LAW. Skirt around it as much as you want; it is what it is. Injustice never done. I am of the opinion that customs officers, police officers and members of the government are involved in this "prominent busisness person"story. But I have always advocated that what is done in the dark MUST come to light. It may take years but it will happen. So to the police I say its Ă–perations hinder Confidence"

The business man was never charged, so you can't name them that was always the policy. For anonymous 3 I guess the police killing of the bad boys working because its like one month no gang related murder yet. Kill them all and done yes.

The police operation had put anon # 3 out of business. Exterminate them. The police should be working with interpol to prevent the fleeing idiots from leaving the country. They need to be cornered and exterminated. Dont let them escape.

It is sad the comments of the alst three bloggers...wait until it is your innocent life they take once they 'suspect' you are involved. The law cannot function this way. Killing-murdering civilans this way is a wakening call that all St.lucians need to protect themselves by whatever means. The law has its mandate and so do the criminals. Let us really see who will win this 'internal' war!
Our people really need to wake up and recognise that what is happening is really a turf war- police and criminals. " Big business' man- who he working for or whose working for him.
It is good and well to kill the lower caste of criminals who really have no name, but like I said wait until the police knocking at your door-whether you have drugs or not. wake up ppl!
