This thing is very troubling to Kenny's return as PM. I don't think he can deflect attention any longer. Even me that is not a supporter of King-have a lot of concerns on this issue.

Anonymous said...

That's why we should never be a Republic, too many dictator wannabes.
The Governor General and the Monarchy are above politics and that's good. So many rats in political office.

Anonymous said...

The former prime minister may not have deliberately "ignore" the law. He was simply too quick and stupid to sign the agreement. His research was lacking. He must have assumed too that, as the prime minister,he was empowered to do anything he wanted on behalf of his black subject. The master-slave mentality seemed evident here.

Anonymous said...

With all the talk I am hearing, I even foolish talk like "master-slave mentality." But nobody seem to say what did Kenny do wrong that will affect our bread and butter now. People how can we allow a semi literate PM to confuse and divert our attention from the real issues affecting the country? The man know he has not performed, so he trying to come up with something, to try to get another term. My fellow St Lucians if by any luck that happen, St Lucia will be heading to the drains like Haiti.

the only person who can provide clarification is Kenny Anthony. It is time for Kenny to come clean Admit he made an error Rochmel, fingerprinting and this contract then we can move on.
Once again Kennys judgement is called into question and that concerns me very much as a labour supporter. I am concerned this debacle will affect our chances at the election.
Its in your hands hands Kenny.

Last night i over heard that the SLP is so confident they are going to win the next elections, that Mr. Anthony is not concern at all about who wants to blow hot air over this thing.

SLP I understand have even started naming person who will serve in their cabinet and what ministry each will receive. It is my understanding that Vaughn is heading to the UN.

If true this laughable.

Interesting article! My understanding of this article is simple--King is placing greater importance on issues that are not as important as bread and butter issues of the citizenry. Like so many others, I waited for eager anticipation for the PM's speech on issues not issue of national importance. I simply do not understand why St. Lucia's PM is not showing much concern about the real issues facing St.Lucians.

I am quite aware that this is an election year but politicians must understand that the citizenry cannot be fooled anymore. Actions speaks louder than words. The actions of this current government show clearly that this government simply does not care about its people. The actions of the men in government show that they are more concerned about pocketing millions from the Taiwanese and forcing money out of the hands of persons wishing to invest in St. Lucia.

Time will tell which party has engaged in the most callous type of corruption in St.Lucian politics. I say audit those blood sucking viping politicians.

Hope St. Lucians will vote in men and women of integrity, qualification and value to govern our country.

Blogger # 4 wake up and smell the coffee. King, the "semi-literate" Prime Minister, shows far more intelligence than Kenny in this instance. Understand that Kenny's reported misdeed will impact you, me and our children.

No one should pretend as if it is not an issuue. It is sure serious as hell.

Above please explain to us how will this issue cost us millions down the drain? My problem with that is, if that is harmful to St Lucia them how comes since 2008 according to King they discovered that. He as PM took no action against Kenny, all Frederick did as an MP and criminal lawyer 3 yrs later was to place it on his windshield, as an election gimmick. King and his whole bad boy merry gang are jockers. It is better they they celebrate their farewell party, because they have killed UWP and UWP will be dead for a very long time. There is no more Compton or Odlum to revive the UWP.
Now the joker who spoke some nonsense about his or her semi literate King show more intelligence than Kenny. I want them to show me one thing of significance that King achieve in a full term as PM apart from enriching himself?

Anonymous said...

Its very saddend and disheartening as to what is going on in st lucia, Especially during this election year, and that even our newspapers are involved in election gimmick.
Leadership is very important, mostlikely during these economics times
W'eve had a goverment for the last four and half years and what have they done to alleviate the plight of all st lucians, Nada nada.
Now we have journalist, and all other forms of communication to ask these leaders to give an account of their stewardship, and they are there pussyfooting with them, whilst at the same time the fabric of our islands is going down to the dogs.
Then these newspapers are on a witchhunte after the former prime minister, which is even more disheartening and are allowing the king administration on a joy ride whiles fair helen in drowning.

Anonymous said...

We have some of our people who are buying into this ploy and gimmick.
My fellow st lucians stop this madness and let these newspapers write things that will help each one to make wise decision for the future of our country.
Please let us not repeat the mistake of 2006 when we elected an 82 year old man and look at what happen now, Little boys are doing grownup jobs.
Among the leaders who are running as head of their party,
Think what the world has come to with its many challenges and education is key for around the caribbean and the world,
Mr Anthony is more fitted for this job,
We gamble once and look at what happen [ deepshit]
Let us use the tw pound electro chemical call the brain and think, think, think, Stop allowing these jounalist and crooked politians to think for us,
We are the ones feeling the pinch
Who feels it knows it.
and if you realy feel it then talk about it.
Let them give us and account of their stewardship.

Anonymous said...

Istead of writing things which are relevant to our times they write juicy stories and nuendos

write about this goverment and the things that affect all of us.
Which is our bread and butter issues.

Anonymous said...

I agree with all those above who say they are concerned about this story.

I hope that we can get to the bottom of this before the next elections. I don't think that the SLP should try to sweep this under the rug.

As St Lucians we have the right to now if Mr. Kenny F-up when he was in office. I fear if we can't have the balls to want to know, Mr. Kenny might think that it was ok to circumvent the law. Of course he is innnocent until proven guilty.

Anonymous said...

We just had 4 very good and sensable responses above, but the last one had to spoil it, with some nonsense. I want ask him or her. What has the SLP swept under the carpet? Explain to us what has the SLP and Kenny done wrong? Kenny is out of office for almost 5 yrs now. UWP spend so much of our moneys on a useless inquiry, why didn't they included that in the inquiry? When these crooked, incompetent UWPeees break the law or commit a crime, Dr Anthony would take them to court and make them pay. So if Dr Anthony has commited such a big crime, why don't they arrest him, and take him to court? Just like the police have arrested three UWP ministers for breaking the law and commiting crimes.

Anonymous said...

That's what some don't want to hear. It is possible that Kenny might have broken the laws of the country!

Anonymous said...

I agree 100%.

We all saw how he governed in his time. We all know what kind of things transpired in his time. This is why realistically he can't be the answer to our prayers.

We must open our eyes and see that Kenny does not have the answers to our problems. There will still be tons of poor people in the country. Corruption is still going to be rampant. The only difference is -the money is going to be going into the pockets of a different set of crooks.

There will still be mass murders-which incidently when Kenny left office he could not solve.

I am not blind or foolish to think that Kenny can solve anything.

The youths of St Lucia have a choice. They can either spoil their votes or simply stay home on election day.

Anonymous said...

I have perused the agreement, and can find NOTHING that Kenny Anthony has done. This nothing but a red herring by the the current administration to detract from their failure as a government.
Maybe a more enhanced due dillegence may have been wise and shown the perils of dealing with the said company. Error but not criminal.
As to the Governor General signature this is merly a paper exercise the office has to succomb to the will of the elected government.
It is easy to join Kenny bashing , but please only when there is something to bash him for.
Kenny on the otherhand please dont be too high and mighty, and give an explanation to the nation again on this issue, and please refrain from further litigation. It makes you look weak not strong .

Anonymous said...

If they cannot or have not arrested or have not taken Kenny to court and make him pay, for what they are claiming, then this crooked, incompetent, non performing government should show the people of the country what have they achieved in the 5 years we were paying them, and what they have done with all the loan they have taken putting the country in debt. Or keep quiet, either they exit with grace queitly or plan a big farewell bash with the Tiawanese money, because it will be a very, very long term before another generation of UWP taste power ever again.

Anonymous said...

Kenny is a blight on the country!

Anonymous said...

There are more questions than answers in this whole affair. At the end of the day, we are left with arrogant politicians blaming each other and others who commit either "wrong" or "Error" and still think they are beyond reproach or above the law.

Anonymous said...

It does not matter have many mistakes Kenny commited or is accused of commiting. He is 100% better than what we have passing for government today in St Lucia. I will tell you why, yes Kenny made mistakes but he WORKED the edvidence is all over St Lucia for all to see. I want anyone to show me government anywhere around the world which does not make mistakes. The difference is today we have a UWP government now in office who have made 5 years of mistakes and has very little work to show for it, all they do is to promise, make excused, like blaming the world economy and Kenny, commiting crime etc, etc. That is why Kenny will win ALL THE SEATS, mark my words.

I write this while at the same time very much aware that St. Lucia has a problem with this present Administration. Our foreign affairs is being handled by a former felon who lied to the people of St. Lucia when he ran for his seat of Choiseul by refusing to bring up his incarceration in the United States in the 1980s.
He subsequently and bold facedly lied on television when he refused to acknowledge exactly what offences he committed in LA.

His conduct in office is just waiting to be exposed when a proper investigation is conducted.
Obvious to all is that he is a lazy, spendthrift, fast talking immoral scamp with no respect for the people of St. Lucia.

Between his salary, the endless travel, the lost opportunities because of his self centered handling of foreign affairs and the NDC we will see that St. Lucia has lost not only millions but also the respect of many in the international arena. The disgrace that is his handling of the UN mission has thrown egg on St. Lucia's face.

Given all of that it is a travesty that all St. Lucia has to replace these characters is Kenny Anthony.

In any other country where issues would have arisen about cost over runs, Rochamel and now this oil situation the leader of that country would have been impeached. The amount lost by the SLP aDministrations between 1997 -2006 if it were in Canada would amount to over $94 billion on a pro rata basis.
Yet St. Lucia and the SLP show no class by offering up Kenny Anthony as the recycled leader of St. Lucia.
Have our standards fallen so low as a country that this is all the country can offer up to its people ?

On the one hand a former leader with no managerial competence, a wrong philosophy, an inability to handle finance with arrogance and petulance as his strong suit.

On the other hand you have a jailbird , lazy, inept, self centered and completely oblivious to the concerns of St. Lucians.

Oh St. Lucia where art thou going !!

Anonymous said...

Bravo!

This is what I've been thinking all along. Here we have a few jailbirds in office, but guess what? There is an oversized disgraced former leader who is seeking to get back in?

In what country other St Lucia would all these mistakes be following a former leader and yet he would be considered fit to return to office?

I am happy that he can't fool all the people all of the time and many have began to take note.

Anonymous said...

The problem with our country is that there are too many shameless party hacks. Even when the evidence is clear and right infront of their face or seem to have implicated their masters, they are willing to sell their souls to defend corruption or mistakes.

Who wants to win an election with a tinted or questionable "new" leader? Who wants to win an election before that leader can man up and tell us his side of the story. Who wants to win an election with a leader and party that constantly attempt to deflect attention from the "truth". You mean we don't consider ourselves worthy enough to know the truth-the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?????????

Anonymous said...

The only way for Kenny to sit on the PM's chair again is to literally steal it and take it home.

Anonymous said...

The truth is we have only two options in St lucia, we have to choose one. (1) We have a leader who made some mistakes as all Leaders will do and have done everywhere in the past, because they are all humane. That leader did a lot of work in the mean time, he developed the country by leaps and bonds, as never seen before. (2) We have another leader who have been making many mistakes from day one up to now, and he has very little to show, in terms of work, nothing in the country is going right. Who would you choose?

Anonymous said...

Sorry. I thought St Lucia had three parties? You mean I can't vote for LPM or an independent come elections?

Please don't insult my intelligence as a young person.

Anonymous said...

You are wrong again St Lucia has more than 3 political parties, but how many of them can win atleast 1 seat in a general election? I am not here to shoot shate, I am really interested in seeing St Lucia going forward. And I want the best we have available to represent us. Insult my dumbness as an old person and please name 9 candidates of your so called LPM or your independent candidates because that is the minimum number of seats one has to win to form the government. I am waiting.

Anonymous said...

Voting the SLP to lead our country is the best option for us. When or if a more able party is to emerge then we will vote them in.

As it stands, the SLP has the quality of leaders that St. Lucia needs to be progressive. No party hack can dispute that. It is undeniable that Kenny has made mistakes but please, please party hacks fool yourselves in thinking that King of all persons is best to lead this country. What have we come to in this small island?

Anonymous said...

King should simply prepare himself for defeat at the polls. It is time that more able leaders like Dr. Ubaldus Raymond be given a chance to represent and serve as a role model to our young people.

Anonymous said...

Any blind or dumb person will agree with you. There are people who do not care if St Lucia sink or float and they cannot see further than their nose, they were born UWP, all their familly are UWP so they will die UWP. So it does not matter how much good Kenny do for the country they will criticizing him. It does not matter how much the UWP take St Lucia to the gutter, they will still support and embrace the UWP.

Anonymous said...

What does this government want,is it not the same thing kenny wanted? To explore for oil? Whether it's rsm or any other company, wouldn't the government of st lucia still have to settle its' boundary disputes? If this government had done this wouldn't we have been in a much better position to deal with rsm? I say kenny has some explaining to do but this government has even more to do,because according to them they knew about this since 2008.Yet we are still talking about waiting for legal advise. So what have they been up to since 2008?

Anonymous said...

As much as i hate the idea of a possible return of kenny as primeminister,I cannot imagine another minute of this king and co. For us to have had the experience of the poor decisions of kenny and to get an administration to make worse decisions so soon after makes me want to puke. We have a minister who said if he was in carbinet at the time this daher deal would never go through,he then turns around while asking st lucians to tighten their belts transfers his ministry to bay walk paying tens of thounds of dollars more by the month. Then we have another who on national radio says he had to go to the ghetto and ask the boys to cool out after he was arrested by a public official who was doing his job.Isn't that frightening? We hear mps openly saying,"my taiwanese money" in parliament and no account of how much they recieved and how it was spent, with the exception of micoud north mp. The court deemed one a liar and unfit to hold the office he's in and that the entire cabinet acted to protect one of its' own members from prosecution. If this whole tuxedo affair does not constitute corruption then that don't exist.

Anonymous said...

I rather throw my vote away if it means that I have no choice but to give it to Kenny.

Anonymous said...

Ubaldus is an idiot. What dreamland you from in thinking that this monkey can beat King.

Yes, I agree King don't have no academic doctorate but when it comes to doctorate in winning a seat King is King!!!!

Trust me, Ubladus has already gone up in smoke!!!!

Here it is that st lucia is bleeding to the core and we still have thos person who believe they are party loyalist, but indeed they are not.
These are party prostitutes, No matter what happen to the island they live in. Another term is PARTY ADDICTION, Just like the crackheads who can't stay without.
My Fellow st lucians Party or no party, It is in the best interest of all to act wisely.

Why do we waznt to support leaders who haven't lead, That's baffling and why can't our people see or feel the plight that st lucia is in.
Let us not think that this coming election is about BEAUTY CONTEST SHOW or A POPULARITY CONTEST SHOW
Its about our future round the caribbean and the world.

The united workers party that was known over the years is no longer.
All you have now is a bunch of criminals who are bent on selfish gain. and they have wrecked the party and are now the UNITED WRECKERS OF THE POOR.
So why can't these party people see so, Lord please open their eyes, That they may behold the truth, Purge their minds from this addiction.

Dr. Anthony needs to come forth with the truth. He must come out and explain what happened. We voted for him, not because he
possessed the PhD degree, but because of "transparency and accountability". He must now demonstrate these virtues.

Anonymous said...

Do you not prefer King and his gang to account for all the millions they have borrowed and we have not seen anything they have done with that money? Instead of asking Kenny to confuse us with a dead issue? How does that oil issue effect your immediate bread and butter? How will that change. The shyhigh cost of living, the increasing crime situation, the escalating unemployment we have in the country, the crambling infarstructure etc. Let us put our piorities right and not let the selfish politicians side track us.

Anonymous said...

Dead issue to you, but very troubling issue to a lot of us.

Anonymous said...

Dead issue? Kenny is confusing us more without an explanation. He must come clean. At present we are seeing what appears to be only arrogance and contempt.

I feel so sorry for UWP loyalists and party hacks. There is absolutely now way that uwp can win this election and continue to bring poor and middle class folks to their knees again.

Similar to the previous Blogger King should ready himself for a defeat at the hands of the competent, and qualified new comer Dr. Ubaldus Raymond. I have had opportunities to talk to this gentleman and man is he an impressive economist and one of St. Lucia's very best leaders.

I am from the Castries North area, and the truth is King is very scared about losing his seat to Dr. Raymond because he knows the man--a man of integrity and great value to the poor and middle classes.

I supported UWP because it used to be a party worth voting for but there is nothing worth desiring for in this UWP since Compton's death. I will not force the hands of my counterparts who support the watered down uwp but one thing I say please BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF YOUR CHILDREN. My family and other persons who supported the uwp will vote for Dr. Raymond because he is simply the best person NOT King.

Anonymous said...

It is irrelevant and a waste of time to continue the back and forth with regard to the pros and cons of the political parties. As we know most of this comes forth from political hacks whether those on this blog or by the vicious media sociopath/ ti papier advocat who considers himself the first and foremost purveyor of maypuis as nation building.

It is also counterproductive for those people, looking for every excuse for our backward political class, to pontificate about the failure of “THE SYSTEM” and the Westminster political system in St. Lucia.

The truth is that we as St. Lucians have turned St. Lucia into a living hell by out arrogance, lack of discipline, adherence to maypuis, roro and the cult of personality destruction. We support a political system of mendicancy as George Odlum used to say, just waiting for another handout for some other Massa. Whether the Westminster system or one modeled after the American system or the Israeli system or some other hybrid we would still corrupt the system with the rules being honoured in the breach.

What more can you say about Kenny Anthony and the 1997-2006 Administrations that has not already been said even though 5 years after it passed, we still are uncovering unethical behaviour?

What more can you tell Choiseul people about the lazy, incompetent ,destructive, ex con who has lived a life of lies and perverse behavior but yet still represents them in the house of Assembly and as Minister of External Affairs ?

The truth lies within and we refuse to subject ourselves to the self -examination that would be required, to find the right answers. Even those with the right attitude who could help us we reject, because we do not want to hear since it means adjustments in our attitudes. From the days of 1997 -2006 when Sarah Flood Beaubrun was attacked by party hacks for talking about values and was kept out of the loop in the SLP Administrations inspite of her successes being the most prominent that the SLP could boast about, to the changing of party rules to keep Mario Michel out of the leadership of the SLP in spite of his dedication to his work, to the utter disrespect shown to the” Father of the Nation” Sir John Compton by the immoral lot in power today, we have produced mirror images of ourselves that we defend purely upon the basis of tribalism and what is advantageous for us on a short term basis.

St. Lucia as a society has regressed over the past 20 years with children having children, with all our institutions having rotted away from inside, with the institution of marriage( the building block of society as proven by endless research) having now become an anomaly, with the man as head of a family being replaced by policies promulgating men having sex with men, with an audit department auditing nothing of government expenditure, with $100 -$150 million being borrowed annually to run the government and the debt being placed on the heads of our grandchildren, with an annual debauched celebration with children “whining” on each other and being called culture, with government running up billions in debt based on secret deals and backhands .

Yet we refuse to even thing of adhering to philosophies that could bring us out of this mess but continue to latch onto the failed liberal, socialist, progressive policies that are now destroying much greater , wealthier and progressive nations than ourselves. The problem is that these nations have groups, political parties, thinkers, think tanks, media , internet sites that point the way forward. In St. Lucia unfortunately and in the Caribbean we have only one liberal, progressive path combined with a maypuis, roro mindset that continues to lead us downward.
