Excellent article, Mr Antoine, especially the second half of it.
I agree with Blogger #1. The piece is too abstract. Antoine needs to localize, though he tried to target the graduation ceremony at the VFCSS. He did not mention any thing said by the feature speakers!He contradicts himself when he says that the graduands are armed with knowledge of Maths.,etc. but on the other hand "they are not ready". There is nothing in second half of the article to merit any praise. Antoine cannot write. If he wants to write well he must first read some good basic books on the art of writing. I will recommend at least two later.
Two fools out of three: not a bad ratio so far, i.e., two-thirds of St Lucian bloggers aren't very bright, or merely disingenuous and biased against Mr Antoine.
Let me help the mentally challenged. The just of Antoine's article is a truism, namely, it requires no proof-positive warranties to substantiate it's veracity.
To put it simply, the article states that in its current worldwide format, schooling teaches us mostly about reading, writing, and maths BUT NOTHING MUCH ABOUT 'HOW TO LIVE LIFE', which is exactly why most people make such a mess of their own lives.
Surely, anyone can understand that statement of FACT!
Fact: Antoine was unable to bring out what he meant to say. This is a general flaw in his writing. Basic writing technique:first,say what you want to write, second say it, then say you said it. Antoine lacks this basic technique. Calling his critics "fools" does not correct his obvious limitation at all. In fact it begs the question who is the bigger fool.
'YOU'.
Antoine is foolish to take issue with critics. You cannot take the heat. Expect generous donation of two books on the Art of Writing, one on Communication and one on Psychology. Promise to make a writer out of you.

I am following this debate. Antoine is a fool. He should quietly accept and follow the advice given to him by his critics. I also hope he will accept and read the books.
