MG, you as a "perceived" journalist should do investigative reporting, rather than give tidbits of information. You should know that statistics can be used to conform to whatever the proponent intends. Its nature permits for manipulation by whoever sees it desirable. All previous administrations are guilty of such. Happens in economies all over the world.

Why not investigate the specific stat noted by the government and provide facts to substantiate your claim.

You need to understand the context in which an analysis is made, hence the outcome.

Did this report cited by you had similar basis as that cited by the government? Please invoke adequate analytical judgement in your reporting.

In theory, it actually grew...5.4-1.8=3.6 so therefore it grew out of the 5.8 hole. Still, we're in the hole.

This cycle of taking the St. Lucian public for a ride will only end when our population rises out of the disease of partisan politics and mental poverty we have in this country.

Anyone with a bit of sense can see that the economy is in a major slump. Walk the JQ mall in Vieux Fort for example, see how many stores are actually still operating there. Go to Castries the center of economic activity the situation is the same. Take a trip around the island on any given week day during the prime work hours of the day, see how many young men (the most productive sects of the country) are sitted by the road side doing absolutely nothing. Drive the roads on a week day too and see that the roads are practically unengaged. How many trucks can you see, for example, transporting produce. There is nothing happening in the country economic wise!

And while these serious problems plague this land, the biggest news item in the country is Richard Fredrick gets a packing ticket?? Turn on the world news, the whole world is pre occupied with the serious issues of how to get out of this global economic slump! Nobody here is talking about what needs and has to be done to get out of this. Hello St. Lucians need a wake up call!

4% growth...wow! In the best of times we have barely seen growth of this rate! At 4% growth I should not be without a job with a university degree!

Politicians it's time you stop the deceipt and do the job which you have been put there to do!

Very true, above. You have, in laymen's term defined and put that 4% (so labelled) growth into perspective.

Like you, I have an advanced degree in HR Management, with a CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation. I am unable to find, not even suitable employment, but any job in St Lucia.

So where is the 4% growth, in what?

Makes me sick to my freaking stomach!!
