Have any of you actually read and understood the article? I doubt it very much. The writer is offering very good advice to young women who think that their bodies are ATMs or valuables to be auctioned to the highest bidder.
She is suggesting that young women do not trade their values and self worth for cheap gadgets (black berries) and carnival costumes. What is wrong with that?
Please read to understand before you go off ranting inanities and making vapid comments.

I don't get the negative comments - seriously? As a young, independent woman myself, I quite enjoyed the article.

At least someone got what she said. i believe the ones who pretend they didnt, may be in the exact situation she spoke about and ashame to admit it so the badger the writer. it seems only the independent women got it. typcal

It is so easy to criticize the good and openly accept the "negative" in society. I firmly believe that this young writer is exploring the social ills which plague our "Fair Helen". Too many times women seem to forget the ostensible value of their precious bodies (the temple of the Holy Spirit) to indulge in the worldly short term pleasures of life.

I believe that this young woman sends a very potent message to the women of St.Lucia by simply reminding them of the true value of their bodies which cannot be compensated by material things.

Anyone who cannot understand that is apparently shutting a blind eye to the situation which plagues not only Saint Lucia, but the world at large.

Rise up women! Let us empower ourselves and not depend on a man in order for us to procure the material things which we may desire. We have the ability to obtain those things through perseverance and determination.

I would also like to commend the writer and encourage her to continue to bring to the forefront those controversial topics as they seem to leave an indelible mark in the mind of the readers.

Sorry but “marks man”
to insult somebody by calling their writing bull only because, maybe u disagree with their point of view (no u don’t have a point of view) or because of personally benefit derived from the degradation of women is appalling. Shows a lack of self-control if not checked might end u in prison.

That poor attempt at writing u just did prove u are not in a position to say who is or isn’t a writer. There is a problem with men who use their wealth or assets to control and trap young ladies.

Those are the ills plaguing our society like it or not. Criticize a writer on grammar or something substantial. Have an opinion at least on the issue don’t just be the”donkey”. But I doubt u will even get that.

keep them comming young lady i can tell u a christian.

You are always open to criticism in everything you do in life but on the bright side there is also "praise". This should not discourage you.

Some people are just; how should I say this; some people are what I'd refer to as "tunneled vision". They're not open minded enough nor do they see both sides of the situation. If it had been constructive criticism; which of course would have assisted you to improve the quality of your writing); they negatively criticize what they don't fully comprehend.

Your short story sends a strong and empowering message to all women.
