The VAT Millions - What Will Govt Do With Them?

The Value added Tax is merely another mechanism by which the SLP can screw St. Lucians and get as much money as possible to waste.

Afterall who will pay for the hnudred million wasted on Rochamel?

Who will pay Menissa Rambally's salary as that uneducated pawn of Phillip Pierre meanders through the halls of the Un !

Who will pay for the hundreds of millions wasted by Kenny and Phillip every year.
Who will pay for the special foreign affairs advisor to say we will stay and get money from Raiwan.

The VAT money will be wasted as was the other money under Kenny and Tony so why bother asking ?

The SLP will come to the House with fancy words and big talk and at the end of the year nothing useful will be achieved but more debt !

Why bother to ask Michah? I believe you already know the answer. No?

First, Saint Lucians and their great grand children will have to pay for decades of serial SLP waste and squandamania.

Look carefully at what is to be repaid without any exchange of assets. Yep, without any exchange or trading of assets to Saint Lucia.

Roachamel's $45 million has to be paid for the creation of 600 low-paying hotel jobs, for maids, busboys, etc.

The lost of Black Bay lands is just a pathetic display of gross financial incompetence, and negligence.

What Saint Lucians previously owned has to be paid for and bought back or forfeited.

No new assets are being traded or gained here either. A real clown negotiated that agreement.

Man, Grynberg is even worse!

This minister of finance is etherizing money and treasure in geometric proportions!

Let us count. Roachamel, $45 million. The next amount wasted is $13 million dollars over. This brings us $58 million for the Black Bay lands.

Grynberg is suing for US $200 million. That plus legal fees is over $540 million.

Financial blundering and ineptitude by this Minister of Finance is costing Saint Lucia, jumping from $45m., plus $13m. to $58m., and now add an additional $482m. which gives us a possible $540 million!

Egregious financial incompetence is home in the SLP, growing phenomenally and in a geometric series, from 45 to 58 and now to 540.

At this rate, what will be the next figure in the geometric series, two billion dollars?

Here are the figures again! We have increases of 29% that is $58m. over the $45m. and now to a possible whopping 831%, $540m. over the $58m., that is if Grynberg gets his way!

WHEN IS THIS STAGGERING FINANCIAL MADNESS GOING TO STOP, SLP?

Purleese Mr. Finance Minister, please tell us when?

'Is Saint Lucia really idiot country, for true'?

15% VAT is the largest single TAX to be imposed on the people of St.Lucian and that distinction belong to Kenny and Tony and the SLP'S.

That's a fact.

Left wing liberals a the masters of tax and spend. There are amble ways to spend this tax, much of which is on the way, with NICE,STEP, LEAP, TIPPER AND SMILE.

Better days are here!!

What I do know is that there are penalties for not remitting the tax collected to government. Whether these penalties are severe enough to discourage businesses from holding on to the tax I do not know - according to Micah.

Excuse me?

You may have forgotten that the hotels owe $36 million in Hotel Accommodation Tax (HAT)?

What is good for the hotels is good for the locals!!!

Micah, if the past is any guide to the future, the short answer is this. Pour them down financial black holes.

Micah, any reader could tell you were confused after reading the first 2 paragraphs of this dribble. You first duty is to enlighten yourself so that you can enlighten us. WHat good does it do us for you to come here and tell us you're confused when there are so many people around who might enlighten you? For a start you could have interviewed the P.S in the Ministry of Finance, or the President of the Chamber of Commerce or the head of the OPSR. You could have looked at Barbados' experience with its VAT system. But I guess it's easier for you to come here and profess ignorance. Even after you were told that you confusing the VAT with sales tax, you did not change your article. Smh.

Had the VAT office been doing a splendid job, Michah would have had greater clarity.

It just goes to show what a big heft this is to get even the literate education. What does that say about the hordes of illiterates and semi-literates in our midst.

The millions, i guess will go towards clearing the accumulated deficit, left by the last admin.

The LPM calls upon Dr Anthony and his government to delay the implementation of the VAT to 1 January 2013, so as to fine-tune and better define a tax system that is as yet largely unknown to the general populace. The design of the VAT has to take into critical account our country’s public sector size, degree of openness, industrial concentration levels, literacy rates, and the size distribution of the tax to name a few. The people of St Lucia must fully understand what they are up against, before being taken like proverbial lambs to the slaughter.

I cannot believe a journalist really wrote such rubbish in a newspaper. And looks like some readers take the trash seriously. Have a little class Micah, if you don't care to have respect for the readers who buy the paper.

MIcah
After reading your article -painful as it was - not only did you have me confused with your confusion, but my assessment to your article is - why didn't YOU visit the VAT office, and have an intelligent interview with one of the VAT officers, or with the head of that department? Isn't that what journalists do? Bring the light to readers? Well, my dear Micah - you failed (in my eyes anyway). smh.
Your slip is showing Micah ...

Anonymous said...

Yep blame the messenger. What all of this says is that the VAT office is doing a very very poor job!

It is crowing success, yet even journalists cyan understand what dem telling de people!

Who is fooling whom?

Anonymous said...

Damn! Micah's slip is showing, again. Yet to read a more stupid, immature and bias writer. Micah's inability to write with a sense of objectivity saddens me a whole lot. He in the profession too long to be still making so many errors in journalism.

From the above, we can all see what a wonderful job broomstick and crappy ministers like Fearty with backward small island mentality John Compton did for Saint Lucians. Together hey created a island full of blabbering country-bookie idiots!

Takes one "blabbering country bookie idiot" to identify with another blabbering country bookie idiot!!! Birds of a feather and all that ...

Please - stop insulting your fellow country men!! You are no better (or worse?).

I absolutely refuse to be called a "blabbering country bookie idiot"!! I am - an intelligent, articulate and confident St Lucian.
