Kenny!!! Answer the damn questions. Do you care at all about the youth? Do you care about our Saint Lucia?

Anonymous said...

I agree!!!

Kenny when you were in opposition you make it look as if you had the answer to solve crime, even if it was under your watch that the crime started taking a toll in St Lucia. We need answers Kenny don't try to sweep this issue under the rug.

When we talk about the murder rate, what are we really talking about? The media keep saying the murder rate is escalating but they never (and have never) provided the rate. All they provide is the total number.

Please, from now on we need the rate ... which incidentally is a percentage. Normally, it is calculated per 100000 of population (according to current UN statistics).

Yeah rightt! What does your UN statistic mean when every day St Lucians are being killed.

20 years ago, how many persons in the country were killed on the streets. 15 years ago, how many dead St Lucian were found in their home and on the streets. 10 years ago, do the maths. 5 year years ago to the maths. I agree with the blogger before. We don't need UN satistic to define an increase in murder down here.

Keep in mind that it ia not aliens killing St. Lucians. We are killing each other. The reasons for which we all know. To name a few, greed, envy, untrustwordiness, lack of morals, indecipline, living beyond means, hunger.

That is why you'll will remain as ignorant as you are (some of you). The blogger is right when he/she stated that the murder rate and the number of persons killed are two different things. That's what I think he/she was saying.

I believe, too many lives are being lost to senseless violence but we must put things into perspective.

A few years ago, when the total number of homicides (intentionally used) was 44 , the murder (used loosely) rate was 25 per 100,000.

Please understand for that year, there were 44 homicides but not 44 murders. There is a big difference.

So, when reporting, we must report correctly.

Hypocrites!!!!

Yeah right!!!! Changing difination to relax the pressure on Kenny and the SLP. We all know were that is coming from.

Before the SLP came to power, no one was seeking distinction between homicides and murder rate. All of a sudden you'll trying to become technical on the people.

Let's face it, death is death. No need to pacify it to serve your clever deceptions.

Blogger No.1 you are so cruel to make such a statement. I don't believe you have kids. If you did, you wouldn't write such. Shame on you.

So some of us are going to sit here and blame the increase in crime on one political party or another. How does that help really? So it was worse under the SLP or worse under the UWP, now what? It doesn't change the fact that our young St. Lucian boys and women are becoming extinct, killed off by their fellow St. Lucians. Neither political party has been able to curb the increase in crime. We can't sit back and rely on the politicians, these are our kids, our neighbors, our people. We need to support these young kids, give them better options, get them involved in positive programs when they are young, have mentoring programs for them etc. This is not rocket science, we have smart people in St. Lucia, surely they can figure this out. We claim we don't have the resources, yet we find resources for things that are not productive.
As usual, we don't have our priorities right.

Now that the SLP is in power, what have they done to improve the situation? Think crime is not their problem? Where are all the loud mouths who knew how to solve crime in opposition?

Heck yes, St Lucians must lay it all at the feet of the SLP.

The environment (home and community) in which a child grows will have effects (good or bad) on that child. Check their backgrounds and get my drift. A 16 year old is still a child and needs all the guidance there is from (parents, elders, teachers, church). Everyone should play a part to prevent these tragidies. Engage those kids. Give them odd jobs when and if you can afford it.
