Where should Kenny go? The only place he will go is to be our PM after the next election. It is time was take his incompetent government off our backs.
I am of the opinion that we should stick to the issue at hand. That the court found that the cabinet of ministers colluded and abetted the crime of tax evasion on the part of one of their colleagues.
Everyone who was present at that cabinet meeting and voted yes to that elligality are equally culpable. That's the crux of the matter. There are consequences to our actions and the Leader of the Opposition is doing what is expected of him in the circumstances.
Ideally, what should happen is that both Minister Mondesir and Frederick should tender their resignations from the cabinet, but I will not hold my breath. I forget that this St. Lucia and one of the commodities in short supply is honor in our Honorables.
Prime Minister King does not have the "cojones" to demand their resignation either. So it will be business as usual until the people of St. Lucia demand greater accountability on the part of their elected officials.
But we are too busy adoring, swooning over, pledging our undying love and loyalty to our party and favourite politicians that we are prepared to gloss over, pardon, excuse, and completely disregard their wrong doings.
Sometime we forget that we are in charge, we are the bosses, and we are the ones in the position to dictate what is expected from our public officials. We need to take that responsibility seriously so that we can have a say in how our country is governed.
I thought you implied that the Canadian Authorities were on the look up for him. What happen here? He has family over there what is to stop him for visiting.
That's right, Kenny has outlived his time as leader, time to hand the baton over otherwise people will see him as someone who'll do anything to hold on to power and that's not a good sign.
Mondesir applied for concessions for his properties and he thought that Cabinet gave him the concessions. However, nobody in Cabinet knew about the Bonne Terre property.
The Comptroller of Customs told Mondesir that he did not have concessions, so Mondesir went back to Cabinet and asked them to fix it.
Cabinet fixed it, but the judge said that Cabinet couldn't fix it without Mondesir showing some evidence that the Bonne Terre villa is part of what he calls Tuxedo Villas.
Instead of playing with the semantics of "Tuxedo Villas", Cabinet should have just back-dated the concessions to include the villa at Bonne Terre.
However, Cabinet incompetence and Opposition zealous partisanship can lead to some entertaining roro, can't it? It's too bad it's costing us so much money. Mondesir will get the concessions to which he is entitled. Was it worth it, Kenny Anthony?
Yes -we know that Kenny has outlived his time as leader but there are many questions that need answering.
What does the electorate in general think of the need for Dr. Antony to go ? Given how lacking we appear to be in any understanding of what will really advance us at a people we may find that over 50% of St. Lucians look forward to Dr. Anthony back as Prime Minister.
Do a majority of SLP supporters want Dr. Anthony to go ? For all we know they do and therefore in reality he has a legitimate expectation as to becoming the PM in the future.
Do the St. Lucia Labour Party delegates want Dr. Anthony to go?
Even if you want Kenny or Tony to go who is to replace him ? If Mario Michel does not throw his hat into the ring or if Philip Pierre does not find the "cajones" to challange Dr. Anthony then he will remain as Political Leader of the St. Lucia Labour Party. Obviously there has to a challanger before people will realistically react to the call for Dr. Anthony to resign. Even the delegates cnnot be expected to respond negatively to a question on Dr. Anthony's leadership if there is not a challenger. My thought is that if Philip Pierre or Mr. Michel were to take the plunge that there will be an immediate positive responce and there should be a rejuvenating tustle to determine the leader, that will help to reinvigorate the party. It is also frightening to think that there is such a fear of Dr. Anthony "seeking revenge" that no challanger has arisen. This raises the spectre of despotism, nepotism, cronyism, vengance from a SLP led by Dr. Anthony in the future.
I would even suggest that Dr. Anthony should look forward to this as it would legetimize his leadership role if he were to win - and then he should magnanimously give a big bear hug to the loser and move on from there.
As it is he has every right to remain where he is at the moment because no challanger has arisen and there has not been a realistic groundswell against him so far in the country except for the assumption that the acceptance of the "issues" facing the present Administration is out of fear of a return of Dr. Anthony and the backroom boys.
The question i want to ask is, what has Kenny done which is so bad, that he is so hated by some uwp supporters. Please answer this question. I can remember Compton did many more mistakes in St Lucia, during his rule when we were in much easier in terms of the economic times, and he was and is still being praised by some people. Kenny did some mistakes, as EVERY leader would have done, and he is being crucified by some people, although he achieved so much for St Lucian. I think the focus should not be on Kenny, because he tried his best, but on the government we have in St Lucia. Are they doing a good job? Are they working in the best interest of St Lucians? They promised us so much, they promised to do better than Kenny. Are they living up to expectation? That is what we have to worry about not Kenny, because he is not in government, he have done his part.
A team of senior government officials returned to the state over the weekend, from Washington D.C., having attended the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Government representatives from over 180 member countries attended the annual gathering of the world’s finance ministers. The opening session, which was addressed by US President Bill Clinton, considered major economic issues facing the developing world and the crisis of instability in global financial markets.
St. Lucia’s delegation to Washington was headed by the Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony, and included Minister for Commerce, Dr. Walter Francois, Permanent Secretary for Finance & Planning, Mr. Bernard La Corbiniere, and other senior government officials.
While in DC, the St. Lucia team held routine bi-lateral consultations with IMF and World Bank officials, concerning St. Lucia’s medium-term economic prospects. Officials of both institutions were impressed with St. Lucia’s progressive economic stabilization and restructuring programs and the focus of its public sector investment projects.
Specific projects discussed were St. Lucia’s Poverty Reduction Fund and a Disaster Mitigation Project to be financed by the World Bank. The final documents to activate a six million US dollar Telecommunications Reform Project were also signed. This project provides financial and technical resources to St. Lucia and four other OECS countries to modernize the management and regulation of their telecommunications sectors.
From Washington, Prime Minister Anthony travelled to Paris, to chair the UNESCO Focus on the Caribbean. While in Paris, Prime Minister Anthony met with Former UN Secretary - General Boutros Boutros-Ghali who is now head of La Francophonie of which St. Lucia is a member.
St. Lucia’s Prime Minister also met with the French Minister for Overseas Development Mr. Jean - Jacques Queyranne (kay ran). Following up on a recent Investors Forum hosted by St. Lucia, Dr. Anthony also received letters of commitment from a consortium of French investors expressing interest in various tourism and infrastructural development projects in the Vieux - Fort area.
The government, said the prime minister, “did enter into an agreement with Rosewood. Government’s view was that the country needed investment in the tourism sector. Sometimes one has to take risks in the interest of country.” Clearly, the Rosewood venture was one risk that went sour. More questions: What interests have been served in that risk-taking with Rochamel and Rosewood? Through it all, Mr Earl Bousquet kept rocking back and forth in his chair, appearing not to be as perturbed as the prime minister.
By the time Soufriere MP Dr Walter Francois got to the platform, it was clear that Labour was on a roll. The ever-effervescent Minister of Planning made it clear he was ready to break Soufriere’s one-term cycle – so anxious that he urged the Prime Minister to “call it (elections) now”.
The ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party held a massive political meeting at the Castries market steps on Thursday to announce the date of the country's General Election.
For the first time in St Lucia's history, the meeting was broadcast live on radio and television. Hundreds of party supporters and curious onlookers listened and waited for the announcement of the election date.
So body asked some questions of the leaders we elected, and same smart person made himself an Ass by calling that person an Ass. Talking it repeated questions.
The questions without asking people why they dislike Kenny Anthony would ah make this person looking less than an ass. So many reasons why people eh feeling right about Kenny and Tony. The history of the man is there for aLL of we to see. You can support Kenny if you want but no way can you force other people to like the man.

Kenny should go also!

Bava! Who is going to remove this incompetent government to hand over power to Kenny a bunch of hungry fellas who can't wait to rape the country.
All you fellas want is to have the country all to yourselves. You don't want to share it with other St lucians. Who do you think you are fooling.
Both the SLP and UWP have to change their leadership. Kenny is too controversial and King is unqualified. So take your pick.

One thing for sure, Mondesir is not going to come to Canada. They want him here too..
They want him there too and only 3 weeks ago he was in Toronto. Can you explain what you said.
I suppose he travelled on our tax payers money, how comes we did not know that? What did he achieved on that tour?
I thought you implied that the Canadian Authorities were on the look up for him. What happen here? He has family over there what is to stop him for visiting.
If you are not welcome in a country, you family there cannot stop that. Mondersir is a crook.
It was you claim that he was not welcome. I alerted you that he was there only a few weeks before.
Your story makes no sense at all.
I don't care, he has defiled his office so he has to go.
Who is going to make him go?
The people.
Up to now I have not seen any sign of that as yet.
Time will tell, I guess.
Oh, now you talking. Time will tell not just Mondesir but for Kenny.
That's right, Kenny has outlived his time as leader, time to hand the baton over otherwise people will see him as someone who'll do anything to hold on to power and that's not a good sign.
Slowly the details are coming out in this farce.
Mondesir applied for concessions for his properties and he thought that Cabinet gave him the concessions. However, nobody in Cabinet knew about the Bonne Terre property.

Good way to fix your roro.
Can these two guys tell us their names? this back and forth....very entertaining!

Correction:
Do the majority of SLP supporters want Dr. Anthony to stay?
No, the better question should have been, does the majority of St Lucians want Kenny Anthony back?
You must understand that it's not going to be SLP supporters that will determine the outcome of the next elections.
It is the people of St Lucia. There's isn't enough supporters in the SLP alone to decide that.
The question i want to ask is, what has Kenny done which is so bad, that he is so hated by some uwp supporters. Please answer this question. Stop being as ASS with those repeated questions. This is politics and you can't expect that everyone will love a certain public leader.
John Compton spent over 30 years in politics, did a lot of good, yet there were hundreads of SLP supporters who hated him even in death.
You must learn to stop being so selfrighteous about Kenny. Understand that what may be your cup of tea may not be another persons.
