There is a much simpler way to establish somebody else's height in metric and it works like this. Establish your own height in preferably metres, say 1.75 m. Remember the length of 5 and 10 cm.
Now all you have to do is make an educated guess of how many cm, 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 the person/item you want to judge is taller, or shorter than you. Depending on your height say it is 1.75 m the range to guess is usually from 1 to 20 cm up, or down between males and somewhat more for females. That shouldn't be too difficult? It applies of course to anything else as well with extending the differential up, or down, between you and the approximate measurement you want to know. This makes it child's play to measure people and items in metric.
