bravo to mr earl bousquet ... often times if ppl just listen to news all u get is just propaganda and no basis for full truth to a matter... if it wasnt for much nationals as they are now .. syrians , chinese, indians, brits and americans how would st lucia fair with the limited entrepruenal spirit in our home groan small investors..
i try my best to forgo using that word "Foreigner" it should be deleted from the dictionary.. alot of investments in the oecs and barbados are mainly cacausians that is just the truth esp in the hotel sector... we need to open our islands even more alot of prosperous nations today did just that...

the only thing that worries me is the cheap sub-low standard goods, products, electronics, appliances that biz ppl here lucians and nationa investors alike bring in ..that is what we the public and the manufacturers association should look at

bousquet lying as usual.
Kenny promised the Taiwanese he was staying with them BEFORE elections.

The so called discussion is smoke and mirrors Kenny say to tiwanese he is staying , tony telling st lucians he is still negotiating.

The question is: should certain local business sectors be protected for nationals only or in part? I think the answer is yes; and so do the Chinese. They will allow you to enter only the markets that they want you to in China.

Very good points Earl!!! here readers is a well thought out and written article....be educated ....however I must admit that Paula has a point in that we have to protect our nationals from outside competition ...it is a political/economic issue ... it is done by all countries openly and/or discreetly.

blogger if by a black chinese you mean someone of african and chinese ancestry... I have seen many black chinese.. go to California and New York and you will see them ...

Well written article, but more smoking mirrors. Point 3 states that St. Lucians and other OECS nationals are free to set up shop in China is horse manure.
Take a look from The WTO to see how many times and cases has been brought against China for unfair trade practices.
No Mrs. Calderon is right you must protect your local manufactures before we become a st. Kitts where the chinese are involved in nearly every industry. Tortola is a shinniing example where locals fought for locals first, a birth right of every citizen. Foreigners who chose to migrate but refuse to accept the culture of the places they move to destroy the little we are trying to save.
I think as a former member of the chinese association or whatever it name was, Mr. Bousquet may be simply singing for his supper and or the benefits which a few members got.

how long does it take for st lucian biz ppl to set up shop in st lucia? it all depends at least 3 yrs on average depending on the biz and how long it takes to build the infastructure.. u think we should wait every 3 yrs for our locals to have a new shopping outlet or some small business place that hardly employs 15 staffs..like it or not as we support our local biz ppl we need not run after those who wish to invest..

it appears that vieux fort might get a car assembly plant built there by an american company-we dont even know its tract record so if it were chinese building that place would we say no to that investment?
