I agree. we have to build the capacity in our political parties if we are going to develop the kind of leadership that is need to deal with the challenges we face.

The MAJOR PROBLEM with half-cock commentators is that they fail to REPORT that their chosen party does the same darn thing. Win the last election prepare for the next by engaging in activity that would ensure. The future of the country is ranked priority number 101.

SLP has step. UWP was so damn different when it rechristened STEP, but doing the same darn sh t, by having their "newly minted idea" providing job for its own yard-fowls?

Shameless!

Disgusting indefatigable retards, insulting people's intelligence.

Some people fail to grasp that the people they are writing for cannot read!

They are either dumb or functional illiterates!

All of which really confirms that Saint Lucia is idiot country!

Every square inch of UVF is not utilized effectively and efficiently. Why spend millions building structures without having a clue as to sustaining them?

Major international airports cater to the growing needs of travelers--restaurants, gift and souvenir shops, clothing and perfume stores, art galleries, paid parking permits, WIFI and laptop rental docks/charging stations, paid push carts, international calling card dispensers, and outdoor vending machines with everything from soda and prepackaged sandwiches to headphones, cell phones and iPods. (Someone should consider adding sanitary wipes to that roster, for overnight travelers!) They also offer auxiliary hotel services (there are Hyatts at some airports!).

These are opportunities for much-needed investment. Exploring these opportunities would be worthwhile, desperate travelers are often willing to pay heftily for convenience.

A very good article by Peter Josie who is proving to be one of the few voices of sanity in this island willing to call a spade a spade - even if he does miss the target occasinally !

The United Workers Party unfortunately with the corrupt persons who were in Government from 2008 -2011 refuses to acknowledge the kind of major issues it faced in that period.

Many of the persons in leadership in that period were venal, corrupt and just trying to fill their pockets - plain and simple. Now instead of trying to change this the UWP is just waiting and hoping that the SLP will collapse and these same people from the UWP come back into power.

One of the big problems is that these same unsuccessful UWP MPs and Ministers only know one type of governance in that period and it was mostly bad and destructive. How can we expect them to come back into power and do any better when they know nothing else?

Just like the clueless and mismanaging Kenny/Tony they will just wait around for their turn at the trough !

When better will not be done, worse will continue to march on towards even greater entrenchment.

Sorry Josie
Your UWP is dead. I would rather vote for another party that have never tasted power than see these cabals in flambeau return .

Face facts. Saint Lucians stubbornly refuse to self-educate themselves on what a modern and proper running self-governing nation should do.

The vast majority of people do not see any value in reading or learning anything other than what they are taught in schools. The more sh t-head SOB talkshow hosts make them believe that the happier they are.

The vast majority of people in Saint Lucia are illiterate.

Now pick from these very people, others like themselves and send them to the parliament. Who do you expect will run the country eventually? Would it not be an army of ignorant SOBs?

These are the very same people who the UWP represent and who formed the last government. Ignorant SOBs in government represent more ignorant SOBs, retards, and idiots.

Garbage in, garbage out.

So we got a government of UWP SOBs.

No amount of writing and repeated attempts at whitewashing can cure this sh t.

Suck it up!

When you are not part of the solution, you are part of god damn problem.

Funny thing, commentators like Peter Josie, Rick Wayne and Timothy Poleon get so caught up in their desire to appear fair and balanced. Regardless of current circumstances, they somehow always feel the need to reference past transgressions--often an exercise in futility.

They don't realize that they're only bolstering the resolve of those whom they criticize. They're unwittingly providing distractions from the issues.

You cannot change the past. You can only alter the present in the hope of improving the future. If something is wrong, say so. Do not wait until it's convenient to point out misdeeds. Do not apologize for being critical of any administration.

The CSA and its members past and present within the two parties have more than demonstrated their INABILITY to measure up to the demands and needs of a country in the face of dog-eat-dog competition in a globalized world.

Yet we had another god damn jackass politician shooting shate about getting more of our people getting a tertiary education.

Just like the other total asses in government that jackass does not even appear to know that a key component of the metric in the HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT INDEX or HDI is the percentage of the population gaining university education.

Yet, it would not be unusual to find another jackass politician simply regurgitating a call for more jobs and greater foreign direct investment -- FDI -- as if these come about in a vacuum.

FDI is a function of the absorptive capacity of the economy in terms of the knowledge base and HUMAN CAPITAL FORMATION in the economy. And today, this means deep knowledge of physical technology and management technology. The S.T.E.M. approach to education is the key. Not just adult education, basic literacy and numeracy.

That was all well and good in the last century.

They don't teach those in our graduated primary schools that we call secondary schools.

The knowledge canyons, not just a gap, in our knowledge-hating and anti-intellectual population

Cut the god damn rubbish-talk on the talkshows!

It is god damn UNPATRIOTIC to condone and countenance such foolishness any longer!

Knock off the bullshit excuses and dishonest crap in the newspaper columns too!

The global economy is again taking a dive as we speak. A major market for us, Europe is going into recession. And the TV, radio and newspaper crap are not helping one darn bit.

The god damn hosts and shameless apologist ignoramuses need to bring their OWN learning up to snuff and stop shoot-shating each and every opportunity they get.

We have so many vote fly-papers, leaders so-called, with no god-damn leadership skills.

Little wonder they say that Saint Lucia is idiot country.
