Just a query: did Lucians began labeling the Fender Riff God of the Tru Tones "Boo" before or after the popularity of its "affectionate" use among urbanites in the States.
Just asking because many urbanites are surprised to learn that Rap started with a Yarde who migrated to the Bronx.
Also, will someone please "beg " Mr. Hinkson to chair a special drive or campaign to warehouse donated musical instruments from charitable contributers -local and global to support jazz or general music learning for select stusents (aptitude test) in select schools (have persons on staff or available locally to teach during or after school.
Personally, I think a program on that scale (relying only on his great name and authentic popularity) would benefit the children and youth in the ways sports programs have while increasing their learning powers; and it would be a great perpetual testament to the iconic legacy of Helen's legendary Musicianship.
This idea is borrowed from the Temple University Jazz/classic radio station WRTI in which they ask and receive donated used instruments (tax deductible) from listeners and donate them to needy students at local schools with music programs.
The proposed program for St. Lucia would encourage the start of small ensembles of potential dedication to the craft.
Said musical program does not have to deliver virtuosos like BOO, however the dicicipline and knowledge has been documented to increase positive academic outcomes for other subject areas plus goal setting and success orientated habits of mind.
