How Young Is Too Young?

We are here again focusing on the wrong things. Some of us never seem to learn anything, but to see things and repeat meaningless gibberish using the same lens of our failed past.

Locally, the youthful experience of Dr. Anthony did not make any material difference in his contribution as education minister. Not then not now. There is no meaningful legacy there to speak of. To boast of.

He may well have used the experience as minister to outdo the competition in the leader board for headship of the party.

But given the litany of EPONENTIAL rates of growth of financial blundering with egregious financial waste and losses, his time at the helm of the SLP has not been an unambiguous blessing.

What we therefore are left with, after reading this missive is a series of meaningless statistics on age that provide no useful insights whatsoever. What a waste of people's time!

If only we could get our columnists to focus on the vision, the work-life experiences, the skill sets, and the most appropriate and relevant academic disciplines that political candidates, incumbent and potential bring to the table, perhaps the voters would vote for a better country. Until then, it is SOS.

...Shouldn't the VOTERS also understand this screening process?..or Have we gotten past the 'rum and chicken' syndrome...just asking!

There is a gaping hole in the organization and conduct of the party faithful in Saint Lucia. Quite rightly @2:43 PM, there is the dire need for capacity building in both parties. Such would allow the rank and file through continuous education, to learn the mechanisms of good governance. No party so-called leader has ever emphasized or introduced that in our politics, meaning, ignorant followers are just what we need, as long as they elect me the leader.

How can one ever respect such people who happen to bubble to the top of their parties?

To paraphrase Dear Father, "Watch out. In the stream of life, SH-T bubbles up, floats on, and remains at the top too."

I was born and raised as a Labour supporter but since the last general elections I have observed that this government that I have always voted for is not ready. I listened to the town hall meeting about a month ago, and it is then I realized that I can vote yellow. That is, ONLY if Dr. Preville becomes leader of the UWP.

2:49 PM,

What? You are still there pushing for more 'broomstick' candidates? And yet you think that you are ready? For more 3rd World backward country bookie type representatives? You make me laugh. You are so funny. Comical even. Joker.

Instead of making a very strong case for party selection criteria for leadership being based and weighted on hardwork and enterprise, and not on flaky issues like race and colour, we got an earful of minutiae on age.

Why are we dwelling on the wrong things and not spending time and effort on issues of building a culture of meritocracy, job experiences and past performance and most of all achievements? Some of us feel a sense of betrayal, with such writers doing a great disservice to the readership.

What has become of the brains of our columnists? Have they gone addle? Turned to mush? Are almost all (99%) of our journalists and columnists lame-brained?

This article is most definitely part of our national problem and is NOT in any way part of the solution.

We continue to breed an unsustainable hordes of poorly educated children that parents cannot afford to rear properly.

They are so Uneducated that the workforce that these represent cannot gain a meaningful employment other than that created by economic genius of STEP and NICE.

But we see supposedly a well-intentioned concentration of effort on the trivia of politicians' ages.

This begs this question: How are we going to correct for the abject failures we have had so far as Ministers of Finance? Is it by any chance by comparing the ages of those attempting to elbow each other out of contention? Or, is it going to be by way of reciting from this article above, its staggering litany of unalloyed idiocies?
