I have been campaigning for this for a long time. Living outside of Slu means that I'm not able to be as hands on as I would like. Doesn't mean that I'm not concerned about the number of deaths on our roads due to largely avoidable accident.
While on holiday recently I noticed the absence of speed limit signage on our main roads from Vieux-Fort to Gros-Islet. This is unacceptable on so many levels. First for the obligation to our local population. Next it is our obligation to visitors to our shores.
All I can say is that I hope that plans are speeded up to change the current situation with road fatalities. This not only affects the families but this can also hurt the country. As we recently saw a road fatality of a foreign national; not for the first time I hasten to add.
Please let us clean up our act and reverse this very avoidable scurge that seems to be taking a tight grip on our lives.
There is so much more I can write about this matter; re drivers overtaking multiple vehicles at dangerous intersections; witnessing near misses and that is during a 9 day stay. Enough said, guys lets do it. I'm sure the entire nation will support moves to put right our sad state of road fatalities.
Radar hand guns was given to the police many many years ago but never implemented. The question is why the police took so long to realize something has to be done.
Oh BTW The same government you praising gave us The Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act 2003 which does not have the speed limit of the country. That is why it cannot be posted. It is not legislated by the person Kenny Anthony gave money to write the legislation in 2003. The previous one 1995 did have it. Wish all you political hacks would be the ones in those traffic accidents.
