“ALL HANDS ON DECK!”

Sounds just like Menissa Rambally when she took over before her disasterous term as Minister of Tourism.

From an international standpoint, Kenny Anthony has already screwed up by appointing two ex-sex offenders to his cabinet which demonstrates total arrogance and lack of respect for women.
Violent sexual assault against women is not the same as accusing some one of drug trafficking, or money laundering; Rape is most the most despicable crime on the planet.

Anonymous said...

He had better travel up to New York & Atlanta to explain to travel agents there why they should continue to encourage visitors to St Lucia.

The internet is filled with revelations about this man's past. Talented and filled with potential, he may be, but he should not be in an outward facing ministry.

Women in the travel industry are shocked and disgusted, and are using their influence to guide visitors AWAY from St Lucia. Some Minister of Tourism!!!

Do the island a favor, keep him out of the news!

Anonymous said...

Nos 2 & 3 above, these charges are allegations, arn't they? Remember, one is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Anonymous said...

@ January 10, 2012 11:18 AM

Allegations indeed, and proven innocent perhaps. Remember though that OJ Simpson's speaking engagements dried up after the Isotoner incident.

Rape is a sticky allegation on a small island.

Do you seriously think that female travel agents will send their customers to an island where detail of sex pest behavior can be found re the Tourism Minister? I will give you a clue NO WAY. And I work in the business - this man is already contributing to reduced bookings.

Don't you care about the island's premier revenue stream? Isn't this a risk too big to take? Give him housing, treasury, sports... any ministry other than tourism which is less sensitive.

It’s only a matter of time b4 this guy gets his US Visa revoked. Can you imagine this man holds diplomatic immunity protected by the Vienna Convention of Diplomatic Relations?
This means he can neither be arrested nor prosecuted for crimes committed in the US or any other country while in the official capacity of St. Lucian government.
Women right’s groups will get word of this man’s past violent sexual acts against a helpless woman { http://www.slideshare.net/Dontvoteslp/the-stlucia-labour-partys-dark-star} and will start calling and e-mailing they congressional representative to make sure he never be allow enter the US again.
Ladies, your new PM has shown his true color, he lacks respect for women.

I will be writing to the travel agents which promote Sandals, Anse Chastanet and the larger family resorts to demand that they no longer promote St Lucia until a man - or even better - a woman of better credentials is put in charge of tourism. I am shocked and disgusted by the links above.

This man's leering smiles are an insult to the women who visit St Lucia.

Let us girls keep the pressure on the PM. St. Lucia deserved a better representative that this man!

Well, what a marvelous resume of St Lucia this is!

A post about 'All Hand on Deck' to encourage tourism and then all posts about the rapist Lorne, eat shit, Lorne haters, white girls no longer come here.

What kind of backwards nation chooses a man with this background for tourism? What kind of uneducated failures tell others to 'eat shit'?

Fair St Lucia get a minister without sex criminality, and educate the lowest portions of your people or the whites will come no more and you will starve!

Why do Saint Lucians continue to pull down their very own my word....anonymous 1& 2 please get a life and leave Saint Lucia to Saint Lucians. If you were in any way Saint Lucian and loved your country you would put country FIRST. STOP THE NEGATIVE RANTINGS. It will take us NOWHERE when outsiders see us tearing down one another. Lets put all hands on deck and work with the goovernment for the betterment of our country. UWP SUPPORTERS SORE LOSERS please get over it that the elections are over and it will never be business as usual. Your government did enough to destroy the image of our country locally, regionally and internationally. Thank God for no more scandals, bobol, nepotism and corruption. Please get your Leader Stephenson King away from the leadership of your party and commence the rebuilding process. We are no longer a Saint Lucia of the 1960"s or 1970"s. Give Dr Gail Rigobert and Claudius Preville a chance to rebuild the party. All renegades vacate the party immediately. Then the UWP will be able to at least make a showing by 2016.

Anonymous said...

@ January 11, 2012 4:41 AM

Indeed, St Lucia should look to the future, but is a sex pest in charge of tourism the way forward?

Being against rape is a bipartisan sentiment which is beyond the Labour / UWP divide.

St Lucia deserves better than a man who harms our reputation through his past. See posts above - actions are being taken in source markets to DISCOURAGE visitors due to his reputation.

We should all be terrified by this!

Kenny, please, keep Lorne by all means but reshuffle the ministries, give him a portfolio where rape allegations will cause less harm...

You all uwp hacks who continue writing all those negative things, when will you all give up the fact that you all lose and slp is there to stay whehter you like it or not. why don't you all go and get work to do.

When the new story was about Bruce Duane Tucker, all SLP idiots were dancing and that was the talk of the Island. Now there is evidence of a despicable crime committed by the SLP golden boy you want us to shut up. Remember if you live in a glass house don’t throw stones.

Anonymous said...

It really is unfortunate that the SLP's "new leaf" turns out to be two individuals accused of rape and not the nicest characters in this country, appointed by this latest Kenny Anthony Administration.

Not only does this deminish the positions filled by these suspect characters but puts paid to the notion that this Administration will be any more competent , accountable or transparent than the last ones.
We are on the way down the slippery slope because these liberal elites do not understand it is the fundamental issues of governance by persons with values and a moral base that will bring us out of this economic ans social downward spiral.

In some ways part of the blame for this slide in values and sense of responsibility to the people of St. Lucia has to be laid plainly at the feet of the United Workers Party.

By their rogueish display from 2007-2011, by their acceptance of a former felon, an individual with ties to the drug underworld and a clear lack of moral leadership by Stephenson King the party laid the groundwork for a much lower standard in public office.

You could say that when Kenny saw this he felt that he did not have to risk any internal antagonisms withing his part by rejecting two immoral characters who he had to give their pound of fleash for their party affiliation.

Anonymous said...

In yellow or in red, a rapist has no place in politics.

Lorne, read the comments in this thread. Is this the kind of publicity you want to attract to St Lucia?

What would you say to a female visitor landing at Hewanorra?

Your predecessor may have had faults, but rape was never part of the national debate.

Do your country a favour, ask Kenny for a ministry where you will do less harm to this fair island.

Anonymous said...

I suppose no female tourist are going to St Vincent and the Grenadines these days, because their PM was ACUSED of rape, just like Lorne.

Anonymous said...

The appointment of accused rapists to his cabinet, Kenny Anthony demonstrates his insensitive towards women. His actions further reveal a high level of arrogance and incompetency.
I could care less what goes on in St. Vincent or other contries, I care about what goes on here at home!

Anonymous said...

The accusation is stain enough - look at this forum for crying out loud!

Lorne is 'damaged goods'.

His reputation is damaging our island and holding back our potential.

The minister of tourism should be an honorable family man, not a cad / sex pest / rapist!

Anonymous said...

This is one of the reasons people refer derogatorily to us as an "underdeveloped country".

They see us acting in an uncvivilized manner by putting two such persons in government and they think we are barbaric. Ditto to the ANC in South Africa.

It is not as if those two persons have any fantistac talents that we must do with to advance as a nation.

I feel sorry for poor Choiseul which had a choice between a former felon and an accused rapist. What in fact does that say about our political parties, the people of Choiseul and indeed our people as a whole to give us such choices.

Kenny though had a choice when it came to the President of the Senate and he choose to kick us in the face with that abomination.

I have emailed Anderson Cooper, Bill Maher and Megyn Kelly about the rapist Minister of Tourism in St Lucia.

I will not stop until this filthy man is taken out of power. How dare st Lucia choose a sex pest to attract tourists to the island.

How does karma work for rape victims? What had Lorne's victim done to deserve sexual assault? Are you not ashamed to have a rapist representing you?

This has nothing to do with rouge or jaune. Rape transcends party lines, as the blogger says above.

Labour deserved to win the election. But this doesn't give them a mandate to put a rapist in charge of tourism - St Lucia deserves better than that.

Ok. There seems to be the tendency to forgive and move on. However, the problem seems to be when do we start. Let us star from here and move on. The challenges facing St. Lucia could consume all of us if we do not come together as one will all our weaknesses and frailties. The gentleman was elected which means that he passed the first forgiveness test. Can he receive national forgiveness? I think we should while at the same time being sensitive to the plight of women.

Wonder why you never mention forgivenss when it was Tucker's turn?

Anonymous said...

8:50 AM are you a christian, do you read the Bible? Have you ever read where it say ALL HAVE SIN? Have you ever read where the Bible say no sin is greater than the other? I supposed you have never sinned. So the day you sin you should not be able to find any employment to make a living.

Anonymous said...

I did mention forgiveness for Tucker. In fact, I saw it as a "brudder" trying a ting to educate himself and it did not work. Mario Michel had the same position on Tucker..i.e. he should not be condemned.

But the problem with Tucker is that he continued to demonstrate that kind of behavior in different ways. It was not a one off situation. He was ruthless. If he had behaved himself, then the Tucker issue would be a non issue. That's the difference. If this current Minister demonstrates any kind of behavior similar to the one he was accused of, then we must put fire under his feet. However, he has not shown that tendency. I hope not. Let us give the brother a break and focus on the global challenges facing us.

St. lucia like the rest of the Caribbean is in much more dire straits than we accept. Our public fiscal position is very bad. Our social harmony and functionality is even worst, just look around at the carnality , vulgarity, and immorality of how our women (even young girls) dress and deport themselves.
We may think we are "modern" but as the USA and Europe are finding out this so called advancement is just that of degrading societies.

When under those circumstances we put two accused rapists and not very nice characters in power it just shows that we do not have the attitude or philosophical approach to good governance. It may seem like a simple thing but these appointments show that this Administration has already failed.

Anonymous said...

Kenny Anthony the world is watching. Are you going to let accused rapists and not very nice characters stay in power?
If so you as our new PM should consider resigning pronto!!!!!

I don't remember such open hostility to this man when he was just a candidate. I believe rape is a horrible crime and all perpetrators should face their due punishment. I may be wrong, but I believe this man went through the legal system and was not sent to jail.

Is the outrage because he is the Minister of Tourism? Because we're so dependent on tourism? So the women around the world will stop coming to St. Lucia because the Minister of tourism was accused of rape? I don't think so. And those of you who plan to tell the world to stop visiting St. Lucia because of this,go right ahead, that will surely help us. I'm sure the tourists who listen to you guys can go spend their money in Barbados or Trinidad or one of our neighboring islands.

Anonymous said...

This is what success does in St. Lucia. St. Lucians are frightened of success due to the consequences and not the rewards. Lorne and Kenny should stand firm and not allow that kind of thinking and behavior to succeed. Yes. Go ahead and sabotage St. Lucia's tourism industry because of Lorne and see who will suffer. Your brothers and sisters. It looks like for St. Lucia to develop some people may have to be repatriated. But to where?

I may be wrong, but I believe this man went through the legal system and was not sent to jail.

The Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), coordinated by the U.S. Department of Justice, is a cooperative effort between jurisdictions hosting public sex offender registries (“Jurisdictions”) and the federal government and is offered free of charge to the public. These Jurisdictions include the 50 states, U.S. Territories, the District of Columbia; Your Tourism Minister was never jailed for his sexual assault on a helpless woman was due in part to his financial status and your corrupt system.
As a foreign national with a history of sexual attack on women traveling to the US most likely on a diplomatic visa, we will make sure US Customs and Boarder Patrol notify NSOPW each time this man enters the United States. It is the law!

For the first time in my adult life I am PROUD of my Lucian brothers and sisters for FINALLY standing up for what they believe is RIGHT. No longer will we stand by and accept unethical practices/behavior by those who claim to represent our Island Nation. BRAVO! For those of you who believe our motives are politically motivated, you are dead wrong! This is indeed about our integrity as a nation. The last thing we want, is the negative publicity.

Anonymous said...

If the man did not go to jail because of his financial status and a corrupt system, as someone suggested here, then the legal system needs to be changed. In the eyes of the current law he was found innocent.
If we are going to notify the world that we have an "accused" rapist as our Minister of Tourism and that they should not come here because of this, then we should also inform them of the high incidence of crime. It seems to me they are more likely to be victims of another violent crime in St. Lucia than to be assaulted by the Minister of Tourism.

Anonymous said...

Dont care what all the above has said, Lorne sure looks damn good in this photo.

Is statutory rape more acceptable than rape of an adult female by an adult male? They are equally despicable. Shouldn't we as a nation have sent a strong message - many years ago - to those pedophile men that irrespective of their political power even as PM,we would not accept the debasing of our females. I am all for highlighting the wrong but some of us have no moral authority to do so. Let's call a spade a spade!

There was no evidence to support the rumours surrounding Richard Frederick either. Even when the SLP was in power they could not produce this evidence. But that didn't stop them from labelling Frederick as the most dangerous thing to happen in St. Lucia politics. Rufus Bousquet's past was brought up time and time again, even though the people of Choiseul had twice elected him despite his past. Theophilus's guilt was never proven in COurt but a case was brought against him by an accuser. But if Frederick can judged in the court of public opinion why shouldn't he and Francis? What is good for the goose is damnwell good for the gander.
