BIG up, Saint Lucia!

I agree. Our port is one of the most beautiful ports in the Caribbean.
If the road to Soufriere was half as good as our port, we would be in business.

we can feel proud but at the same time port castries should have been on its 1st phase by now .. we have a great treasure harbour and we the second most scenic harbour in the caribbean after st thomas usvi. i know its good biz sense to allow royal cbean cruises to finance castries port couldnt we have started the process many yrs ago..? every thing in stlucia functions on a snail pace.. while barb keep moving far ahead of us..and antigua and esp st maarten.

it will be nice 2 see if works starts this yr and the harbour gets a major facelift and boardwalk and a mini hotel castries should have a mini hotel in its down town yrs ago.. next get rid of those old CDC buildings pls

Yes, the CDC buildings, one by one, should be replaced with modern 5-story residential structures; especially around the Castries Market area; a major tourist hub.

La Carenage! It was and is still a natural deep harbour and that's why the French and British fought over it for so long. They knew something way back then.

But frankly, why was the prize given? For the harbour's natural beauty or for SLASPA's expert management?
The article does not state clearly enough the reasons the award was given to St Lucia.

Best Port in the Caribbean; best honeymoon destination; best marina in the region; best Caribbean land-mark (The Pitons); etc., etc.
Best this and best that; yet, places like Grenada continue to beat our behind.

And maybe little St Vincent soon.
Too many words and unkept promises.
