Well put. Mr. George. I know nothing about the details of this saga. But one thing is sure the President has flagged some very important issues which many of us have spoken about albeit not loud enough in the Public Service.

Who really matched the Scholarship holders; with the needs assessment of the country; and the capacity of public and private sector employers?

These Ministries Public Service; they merely operate like ROBOTS. Just pushing paper; if you will.

As mentioned by the President, of what use then should a student be bonded? Of what use then is there a National PRIORITY LIST.
Shame on the Ministry of the Public Service; where both the Minister and the Permanent Secretary are complete mess and waste.

And oh no; shame on the Government which some of us were made to believe were more progressive than the last administration. Shame on the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia.

Both Phillip Dalsou the Permanent Secreatary of the Public Service and the Minister James Fletcher are square pegs in very, very round holes.

It is about time citizens and residents come out and refute the lies made by Public Officials; starting with the obvious lies of the Prime Minister. He always gives a cock-eyed view of the issues at hand.
Bravo to the truth; to the Public. Bravo to the President of the Alumni Association.

Politicians lie too much. We must at all cost expose them; so they can be kicked out of Office as fast as possible. We are just fed-up.

Micah, this is not a good picture of you. Please remove it. It is a turn-off.

The University is happy after all it has been paid.

No loan should be given to anyone dependent on the person giving the loan also having to employ you.

That is not what happens in the real world. You know too good to be true.

Wouldnt that be sweet.

Simple matter Government should not be guranteeing Jack Shit. Have the students family carry that burden.

I sympathize with the students plight of those fortunate students that are given loan guaranteed by the Gov't and therefore the taxpayers of St Lucia. The issues that you all are going through , alot of other St lucian students go through the same, but unlike you all they do not have luxury of having loans secured by the govt. Yes i know that some students cant find jobs, but some do have jobs here and in the USA, and still make no effort to pay their loans, and guess who suffers as a result? Those who come behind struggling to find ways to pay for a degree.

George, they Cannot afford to pay back the loans. Now, what part of this statement that you don't understand?

A must read for all future overseas students.By the way,get a good american lawyer to look into this matter for liability on the part of the school.I know. I had 'lawyer' and 'good' in the same sentence.

Governments are not employment agencies. No government in the world are there for employment of it nationals. The administration of each government is there to create a suitable environmental program for investment and by extension employment by the private sector.

There is no way i am going to blame any administration (UWP/SLP) for the problems these students are going thru.

Students and their parents must understand what is it to take a loans. It is each person responsibility to service your loan.

George Odlum father was a barber, John Compton father was a fisherman yet they paid the way thru in England and Curacao respectively.

They also blame the university for problems. What has happen to studying at UWI?

They knew what they were getting into so it is time to pay the bank!!!! Please pay up....

If each person use the same lame excuse for not paying his home loan what will happen?

The advancement of oneself is all about application and sacrifice, and not about a show at attending higher learning in a USA school.

These students are finding an excuse not to meet their commitments. Things are tough for everyone but does this give them a reason to renege on their commitments.
There is s simple way to solve this. The banks simply let credit agencies in the US know about those students defaulting and watch their credit ratings go bezerk. They now will have no choice but to repay their loans as everyone else, because in the US with bad credit you cant get anything. No credit card, no car. You want a higher education but believe that you are owed it as a right please grow up. higher education is not a right its something you work hard at.

Some of you are obviously missing an inconvenient truth. For the chosen career paths of some people, UWI does not suffice. A decision to study at an alternative learning institution does not automatically mean a UWI snub. What was good for you, isn't suitable for everyone.

People who've pursued their studies beyond this region (internationally) are often better equipped to lead diverse teams. Given the realities of a more connected global environment, this is a plus.

Some of you UWI grads have an inferiority complex because you chose to remain in your comfort zone. Be proud of your degrees and allow others the freedom to do the same.
