MARCH SET FOR MONDAY

March! for what?

Why don't you civil servants thankfully pray to God that you are gainfully employed, as opposed to thousands who wished they had a job and an earning, no matter how small.

Mary Issac, where is the government (be it SLP or UWP) taking the money from for the salary increase you are demanding.

Look around you (mostly the industrialized world) and appreciate the austerity measures being implemented by those rich countries; take a page from them and advised your members accordingly.

Simpleton!

Am I missing something here? I distinctly heard the CSA president say that they were not offered the benefits afforded the other unions. Hence their resistance.

After watching last night's newscasts, it occurred to me that she needed to change her selling point. Had the strike been hinged on the salaries of the Grade 1 workers, she would have elicited much more public support and empathy.

How does one justify a take-home pay of $700+ after taxes and NIC contributions, when the PM's monthly allowances alone are double that?! Factor in inflation and VAT and you're barely left with anything.

And, can someone explain that "entertainment allowance" accorded ministers and political appointees? Why are we footing the bill for their entertainment when Grade 1 workers are left to suffer? Lead by example.

If you cannot contribute wholesomely to a thread, do everyone a favor and STFU. Fed up of you nuisances! Tough times are ahead, get serious or get out of the way.

Hey! I love a march! How about this one?

Cut and paste the following link in your browser window.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSFycP6opLo

Crank up the volume! Strike up the band!

"Oh, the grand old Duke of York,

He had ten thousand men,

He marched them up to the top of The hill and he marched Them down again.

And when they were up they were up.

And when they were down they were down.

And when they were only half way up, They were neither up nor down."

mary had no time knowing that at school, because she was making "BEST" STAYING AWAY.

They have no choice but to march. What else are they going to do? The strike has been ineffective. Actually the strike has been effective in showing all that we don't need so many civil servants. At least they'll get some exercise while marching.

There goes another of our idiots. So if the Chinese did not give the government any money, you would have called off the strike?

Did the CSA know for sure that the Chinese would be giving money to the government to pay the CSA, it would seem?

The CSA is both top heavy and bottom bloated. It is a very, very very, sick organization.

The CSA is just proving over and over again, that we have been paying just too many people and for too long, to do too much of a lot of nothing.

Anonymous said...

Why, absolutely, above. I totally agree with you. The CSA is a joke; a big one at that, and Mary Francis is leading the circus. This woman is nuts.

Anonymous said...

Funny how poor Mary Francis' name comes up for chastisement in matters totally unrelated. I think you meant Mary Isaac, above.

Anonymous said...

Yes, indeed, above. Thank you for the correction. I meant Mary Issac, NOT MARY FRANCIS.

I do apologize, Ms Mary Francis. I got the names all confused and mixed.

Have a great day.

KENNY ANTHONY lied to the voting Public; when he told us that he would be able to pump ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS into the economy when he got into office.

Then now we learn of the Legal Suit made against the St. Lucia Government of FIVE HUNDRED MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS. relating to an approval granted by KENNY ANTHONY for Oil Exploration in our sea beds.

That DEAL is being said to have not been known by his Cabinet Ministers; as well as the issue of such approval in the Law; being only the purview of the Governor General.

The CANNELLES PROJECT which now stands out/and depicts disaster was also under his watch and his doing.

This man has become a BIG FAILURE and is hard-headed and determined to bring this Country to the ground; because he knows that he will never again form any Government in St. Lucia.

I feel great deal of trepidation regarding the future of this country. The people do not bother their heads at all, at all, at all, who they propose, select and eventually elect to parliament.

The party machinery of both major parties is incapable of attracting genuine people who have an eye for the honesty and integrity of those individuals that the various constituencies put in the forefront to represent the area on the ballot papers.

We keep on presenting highly flawed characters and repeatedly unsavory characters to represent those and eventually Saint Lucia.

A country which wishes to attract a certain type of foreign direct investment into this country should by now have been showing a much greater and keener sense of social responsibility. We don't.

The CSA is right on target. Kenny Anthony needs to be removed from Office. He lied to the Nation and is failure.

The Public Servants know the TRUTH on many "deals" gone sour and others not yet revealed; and are right on target standing up for what is FAIR, RIGHT AND JUST.

We the majority of St. Lucians stand at the side of the CSA. We have your back.

Away with phony, ineffective. NO VALUE ADVISORS and CONSULTANTS. No difference from the PAST. Only now getting WORST.

Anonymous said...

Since when does one person speak for the majority of St. Lucians? I'm definitely not on the side of the CSA.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter which side you on blogger the fact of matter is that Kenny Anthony has put the unions against each other and the public against the unions. This is gonna be a problem we will have to deal with for a long time, wake up st Lucians this man is taking away our freedom in this country and putting us against each other just so he can remain in power.

Anonymous said...

Kenny has that much power to force people against each other? News to me. I was under the impression people could think for themselves.

Anonymous said...

You are giving Kenny too much credit for what is quite the opposite reality, which is the lunatic intransigence of the ignoramus leadership of the CSA.

What the myopic CSA leadership does not even now recognize is that as a block of such a large number of voters and a key segment of the workforce, any administration would be wary of even seemingly attacking this group.

What the CSA has done is to show that it does not appreciate the underlying but fundamental principle of unionism, which is that unity is strength.

With a win-win approach as today's dominant negotiations strategy in the business and political arenas, negotiators on both sides of the table recognize the need to shelve some issues and make up for others in subsequent rounds of negotiations.

After all, both sides with perhaps different representatives at the bargaining table, will be there in the future.

Therefore, there is no great need to persist with distributive bargaining as is the position of the CSA, as opposed to the integrative bargaining that has been exhibited by the other members of the TUF.

Later, labour unions can always highlight great reasonableness when the country faced this numbing combination of circumstances of an economic downturn both locally and abroad.

My bias perhaps, but a man in the leadership position of the CSA would probably have been much less emotional and a lot more realistic.

Reasonably speaking, a bargaining agent for any union for that matter, cannot bring in past and current political misappropriations and misspending by any administration, as the basis for its unreasonableness in the business negotiations between say, the CSA and the government of the day.

CSA's immaturity is on show for all to see. Leave the politics out of it. Try to embarrass the government, if you must, in some other way.

Anonymous said...

So CSA goes back to work in the morning with a 4% and $100 or $175 more than they had. That is the most ineffective strike in the history of SLU.

Anonymous said...

How does one qualify as a negotiator? Does one even have to be vaguely assertive or articulate? Perhaps the best results would emerge from these two qualities. But what do I know?

Anonymous said...

First, it requires a special skills set; second, a certain temperament; third, special knowledge of and/or experience in the subject area of the issue(s) being negotiated; and last but not least, a negotiating strategy with tactical plays around your BATNA.
