One of the party members sought to dispel this notion that the UWP is not united I told him don't convince me convince the populace as they are the ones with this perception. If that was not a clear case of cognitive dissonance I do not know the meaning of the term.

There are fissures within the party caused primarily by Chastanet's having WON the leadership elections. All the king's horses and all the king's men refuse to accept defeat like TiChas had robbed him of his patrimony.

I believe they are not only hurting their party but the people of Saint Lucia as well who want a worthy opposition to the government to ensure that government does not overstep it's bounds (case in point unconstitutionally purchasing that building to house the SSDF), and to keep them honest.

It would appear that opposing Chastanet bring some members more satisfaction and is a greater priority that winning the next elections.

Shape up or ship out. Use the party machinery to regain the leadership just as TiChas did when the next contest for leadership rolls around. In the meantime help him mend the party's image and increase it's electability.

Unity? Mercenary motives do not make for unity. It's each clique or faction is for itself. The only goal they have in common is what drives the narrative to date. Their goal is power. That is the end all, and be all of this titanic struggle. That is playing out before us.

Witness also, that there is precious little being disclosed about plans for the future of the country. It is just party, party and party.

It is very obvious now, even to the dumbest amongst us, that the UWP is unashamedly just little more than a bunch of immoral self-serving opportunistic mercenaries.

Perhaps at the last UWP convention 'everybody was there', but commonsense did not show up.

Mr Bishops presents a finely balanced column/article-again. The blogger responses too, asserted objective perspectives.

I especially liked the call for stout nation building clarity within the opposition's public conversations or party communiques to keep the current authorities-honest!

"Cognitive dissonance" -now that's a reasonable filtration or worthy gauntlet to brew a revamped series of political checks & balances in the post "myopic" era of our political stalemate. The party (s) need to see the forest for the trees-

Island govt needs a neutral (think gear shift)body for "previous and or year to date budget GNP review /critique. Their objective journal deals only with factual data and is presented to the governor general who then either returns it for edits or submits it directly to the official Gazetteer for public publication.

This neutral gear acts as a barometer for the looming budget on the horizon. The government of the day now have a journal sanctioned by a "jury" of vested economic peers. It has an objective tool with which to augment if not distill recommendations for its new budget and or economic priorities/policies.

Who are the "neutral" members of this data driven think tank?
Prescribed slots should be given to representative (1 per) {Agriculture growers- Agriculture goods/services- Hospitality sectors- Imports /exports cartel-manufacturers- banking/ finance- civil service by sector- other unions by sector- medical emporium- secondary school student-college student-

Finally, Mr T's humor shows acceptable usage of bio appendages & orifices with a nod to parental filter or PG rating in effect.
Here is one that only a Lucian officer in the Officers mess may decipher

"The marine CORP COTS in the barracks are sturdy sleep inducers".

UWP has always been a one-man, dog-and-pony show. That pony knew one thing well. Bananas.

Surrounded by broomsticks, when that went downhill, the pony had no other trick. All the broomsticks were useless. Some had become unelectable. "The Sins of the fathers ...." Those electable had no basic intelligence to get the show back on the road.

Even now, the less than capable, are doing much of the infighting, whilst trying extremely hard to become relevant to the situation required to put their own dog and pony show back on the road.

Relevance? This is becoming increasingly elusive. The UWP has neither the depth nor the skills bank and talent to help Saint Lucia move forward. Look at what they did last time around! Now Dr. Rigobert, their only swallow, does not a summer make.

There is redemption. There is, if Dr. Rigobert can attract and surround herself with a decent pool of talented Saint Lucians, while distancing herself from that hothead, gauche, ill-bred, and ill-tempered foreign-born.

UWP has legacy issues. Whitewashing sins, and vigorously buffing a patina of respectability are definitely not helping.

UWP, a party of misled idiots, for hopeless idiots, by despicable idiots!

If there were more guns, these political bandits, this Ali Baba gang of parliamentary robbers would have long ago formed a circular firing squad and would have started firing. Saint Lucia then would be rid of voting frauds.

UWP cannot do better because those with the voting power do NOT know any better. Garbage in and garbage out.

NO guns (Tazers perhaps) in dis ya demand for change and transparency in all credits and debits ledgers of the People.

Here is a Wailer's chant to soothe the angst away from violent solution

(We don't need no more trouble)

Wo! Oh-oh-oh!
(We don't need) We don't need no (no more) trouble!
We don't need no trouble!

(We don't need no more trouble)
Make love and not war! 'Cause we don't need no trouble.
What we need is love (love)
To guide and protect us on. (on)
If you hope good down from above, (love)
Help the weak if you are strong now. (love)

We don't need no trouble;
What we need is love. Oh, no!
We don't need - we don't need - no more trouble!
Lord knows, we don't need no trouble!

(We don't need) We don't need trouble (no more trouble) -
no more trouble - no more trouble!
Seek happiness! (...) Oh, ...!
Come on, you all and speak of love. (...) Oh, yeah!

We don't need no trouble;
What we need is love, now. (What we need is love!)
(We don't need) Oh, we don't need no more trouble!
We don't need, no - we don't need no trouble!
We don't (need) - no, brothers and sisters ... (no more trouble!)
