One has to be tone deaf not to understand the primary purpose of workers' representatives in the present global economic climate of uncertainty is not "give backs" but job security.
You can argue deficit till you are blue in the face or till the cows come home. Nowhere in the world is it mandatory for unions to negotiate their employer's expenses. (Two or more unions can represent bargaining units in one employer's facility.)
Remuneration is just one of the many expense items on government's income statement (if this administration had had the inherent intellectual capacity the smarts to develop one).
But then again, we still have the backward accommodation for non-performing governments, maintaining the colonial cash accounting system. We still do not have a reliable cost of living index. We still do not have a reliable index of domestic inflation. We still do not have an ongoing manpower plan. We still do not MEASURE NATIOANL productivity.
Therefore, BOTH the government and it mock negotiating team are no more ready for serious negotiations today than would be Bram Bram.
Both are out to sea on the key economic variables that are supposed to offer us serious talking points, or to, dictate and warrant real and meaningful discussion.
Somehow, I get the distinct feeling that the political directorate in this country are operating as if they have a loose screw somewhere. Either this, or they cannot see the forest for the trees.
Kenny Anthony has earned the bad reputation of treating civil servants like DOGS if they do not cow-tail to him. He has earned the dubious reputation as the WORST Prime Minister and Minister for Finance this Public Service and country has ever seen.
If he observes that you do not pander to his crap in the Civil Service, he goes to every trick in the book to frustrate; seemingly punish, victimize (openly) and even attempt to destroy an individual, using whomsoever he can use in the process.
We cannot wait to see his evil back out that bloody door.
Imagine today, Kenny Anthony is utilizing the skill? of Chester Hinkson ? No shame Kenny Anthony.
After he did all he could to kick Chester Hinkson out of the Bank Of St. Lucia unceremoniously;
And brought in a blasted TRICK-I-DAD-IAN.

He has indeed the dubious distinction of a Minister of Finance who vapourizes money at a rate of twice the amount of his last egregious blundering.
The last figure stands at $168 million. Some say $500 million and counting. At such a rate, his next blunder might well be $336 million or $1,000 million!
Who knows what carelessly dangerous financial burden this country is being saddled with as we speak. The last financial transaction was an unconstitutional overreach which bypassed the role of the GG. Not strange at all, it was done in secret.
He is also, a not so very amusing political prestidigitator. He forces you to take 4% and then later on reaches out to grab 5.
The CSA and the smarter people in this god-forsaken country, except the rent-a-a-crowd Fidel Castro Cuban-styled en rouge-nistas can all see through this no so very clever trick. Way to go Saint Lucia!

Chester Hinkson out of the Bank of St.Lucia Then we should congratulate Kenny for burying the hatchet, and appoint Mr. Hinkson as the GNT chairman. I think Allen Chastnet can take a page from that, and try to reconcile with those he believe that are against him, he will do well to re-establish his party base. Because the party and it's executives have truly destroy this base. There is a very disturbing acceptance of the duplicity and outright political deceit that forms the backdrop of these negotiations.
First, is the outright deceit associated with the demonstrated overt support for the 14.5% increase that caused a further national debt borrowing of $160 million.
Second, is an acknowledgement that it was KNOWN at the time of the demonstrated support and that march, that this country could NOT afford the 14.5%.
Third, such callous indifference and POLITICAL BETRAYAL OF TRUST is what is so DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT, and ... THAT THIS IS GOING TO GET A PASS just because the actor is a prime minister? Really? Really, Saint Lucians?
What? Have we as a people only traded one set of blasted colonial masters and genuine goons for just another lot, of our own creation?

August 24 at 8.41AM I would be the FIRST person to reconcile and support others reconciling; but the key issue here is this....Kenny Anthony's TRACK RECORD shows that he has never been a man of sincerity.
He USES people. He has absolutely no compassion for others. He will use you to your own detriment; with no remorse.
He is a trickster; deceptive and very devious.
This is why I insist that unless he (Kenny Anthony) after all that bravado about Richard Frederick; cannot now enlighten the Public or the United States Embassy about what he claimed he knew; then I have no time for Kenny Anthony; and unless he is man enough to provide the Courts in St. Lucia with the so-called EVIDENCE on Frederick; then in my view he 9Kenny Anthony)is just "car-car chien" (dog-shit).
I will sooner support Richard Frederick for whom he can provide no evidence; with all his (Frederick's) bravado; at least I have some idea of the person I am dealing with;
compared with those crooked/ cocaine dealing politicians who pretend to be lily-white and then they are under the shadows of the darkness; WORST than Frederick; devious; wicked, evil and wretched; and their deeds cannot compare with that of Frederick. These politicians are much, much WORST.
Pretty soon they will be exposed for who they really are; like we see with Bruce Tucker stashes house and luxury car etc in Miami.
I can still recall the much talked about cocaine found in the United Kingdom in banana boxes coming from Vieux-Fort, St. Lucia which was linked to a certain politician.
Then too; I can also recall the man who was facilitated through the infamous VIP Hewannora Airport Lounge; and was arrested in London upon his arrival found to be loaded with cocaine.
The lady who facilitated the man through the VIP Lounge is well known in political circles.
Then we now hear of the scandal in the St. Lucia Consulate in Martinique about VISAS being sold.
By the way to date; we never heard one word about that VIP Lounge Affair; neither from the Police at that time nor SLASPA. It died a natural death.
SLASPA is in interesting times. Kenny Anthony's family now Heads that institution. Interesting times are ahead.

Why would St. Lucia's Minister of Finance have to guarantee fourteen million dollars for UWI?
What happen to the University's INCOME STREAM?
Have we in St. Lucia been seeing advertised in at least one leading newspaper here; the balance sheet and income statement of the University Campus that he is guaranteeing such a loan?
Are University officials living on largesse? Do we know?
Is Kenny Anthony using the job we St. Lucians gave to him for a time to make contacts for current and future favors for himself, family and friends? And by doing this he will be in their (University's) good books?
Kenny Anthony is overstepping his boundaries. And he will be made to pay for his reckless behaviour.
The University of the West Indies must operate like all institutions within its means. And that too includes Government.
And when one really lokks at what is happening in this Caribbean Region; one is forced to ask the question; HAS THE UNIVERSITY TRULY SERVED ITS PURPOSE in uplifting the standard of living of the peoples of this region?
Or;
Has the University through its doctrines and teaching; wittingly or unwittingly; produced a whole lot of pompous; semi-literate (de facto) self-aggrandizement of men and women; who believe that 'they have arrived' and they are the be-all-and-end-all?
This matter is preoccupying the minds of many of us here in this Region. We see too many FAILURES and few successes.
